Good Points: Good central location, quiet clean hotel with breakfast included, as many hotels now charge extra for this. Decent sized double room. Car parking to hotel, and was easy to park.
Bad Points: Very unhappy with housekeeping staff - on first day our room was not serviced at all because we were getting ready for family event in early afternoon. Some towels and tea things were left dumped outside the door. We went out at 1.00 - I do not believe housekeeping staff only work in the morning, as I have done the same job in Harrogate hotels, and a full working day is allowed for cleaning rooms. Also on the day of departure we were hassled 3 times before the checkout time of 11.00am by the member of staff allocated to clean our room, and despite a 'do not disturb' sign on our door. This was unacceptable, and more so staying in a hotel whose prices are increased for the bank holiday weekend.
Further Comments: It was fair - I was also disappointed not to be asked if we had enjoyed our stay etc by the reception staff on check out. This should be standard customer service procedure. I booked this hotel with my fiance who is not from the area, having stayed at the George 10 years ago and thought it was good. I was disappointed this time round, and would have second thoughts about booking again.

Good Points: Clean and well ordered room
Bad Points: Couldn't get the shower to run hot early in the morning
Further Comments: I only stayed one night, but it was ok. Staff could smile more. A touch taciturn.

Further Comments: Old grand style hotel with interesting features in public areas but our room although large, clean and adequate was in need of redecoration.

Further Comments: we had an enjoyable stay at this hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast basis and the food was very good. I would go to this hotel again but the hotel could do with a little updating.overall a pleasant stay.

Further Comments: Shower was permanently hot. No way of regulating it. Had to get the television changed, as that didn't work either. Hotel is past it's best. Good breakfast though.

Good Points: Food was excellent value, both breakfast and the dinner for ￂﾣ10 over the accomodation flaaat rate.

Good Points: Pleasant staff, good food.
Bad Points: Room.
Further Comments: Room was a bit tatty. Not the furnishings but the walls, ceiling etc. We requested a non smoking room but were originally allocated a smoking room, however the management quickly remedied this. Overall a pleasant stay.

Good Points: The location was excellent, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The breakfast was well presented and hot.
Bad Points: It was in need of decorating and a general uplift and looked very tired.
Further Comments: It would have been nice to know that it was located on the main road (our room was at the front)even though it wasn't too noisy. If we hadn't got a great deal from yourselves I would have been highly disappointed with the Hotel and the price we would have paid, it certainly isn't worth ￂﾣ92 (single room) a night for B&B. As I mentioned before if the decoration was spot on it would be worth it, it really let it down. Let me know when it has been re-furbished.

Good Points: There was nothing I particularly liked, but thought the room was a good size and ok
Bad Points: I thought the bathroom was truly awful. I must admit I did not want to use the facilities in there, it was so bad.
Further Comments: I found the staff really friendly, the building beautiful and the food excellent. I thought that the rooms are in need of updating though.

Good Points: The room was fine apart from a dripping shower that kept me awake

Further Comments: My stay in this hotel would have been great if the shower would stop dripping apart from this my stay was fine. Overall I would recommend this hotel as the food was lovely, the bedroom was great apart from the shower

Good Points: Excellent positing right next to the town hall where we were working.
Bad Points: Rooms need updating
Further Comments: Lovely old building in keeping with the architecture of the town, the hotel itself is just a bit tired and could do with an update - the bathrooms certainly need a spruce up - but it is all clean and adequate and the staff are friendly - at least the ones that understood English were!!

Good Points: The atmosphere and the warm friendliness of the staff, who were excellent.
Bad Points: Keeping some music stands handy. On a serious note, having at least 5 White, 1 Rose & 4 Red wines by the glass, and a decent local real ale on tap.
Further Comments: That the hotel had shower gell instead of bars of soap. Also the map you use is pretty low on important information - the Hotel was much better situated than I initally thought! Overall, a really good stay, improved still further by being able to camp in the foyer after our music competition was over while we waited for our train. Very helpful and prompt service at this point - well done to all the staff!
