Good Points: It was the only available hotel
Bad Points: Better soundproofing in the bedrooms, we were kept awake until 3.00am Sunday morning because of the extended licensing hours and the accompanying noise. Better mattresses as our was very lumpy

Good Points: size of room
Bad Points: sound proofing rooms to combat live rock bands till 3am on friday and saturday nights
Further Comments: would liked to have known about the late licence for live music. Due to live music no food was available. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Good Points: close to where I was Working
Bad Points: Noise at night from either the road outside or fans withing the hotel
Further Comments: A basic hotel with i have no problem with, but at οΎ£65.00 per night I would have expected a better level of accomodation. I had one night where i got no due to fan noise. The management were very good at getting us moved and we still suffered from road noise. Steel single glased window frames did not help

Good Points: Very informal.
Bad Points: cleanliness and hot water system needs sorting out as soon as possible. Water was scalding and tempremental. More lighting needed in the rooms, far too dark.

Good Points: Central location. Warm & reasonably comfortable. Good breakfast.
Bad Points: Redecoration. Soundproofing from music below. Reduce noise of door closing in corridors outside the room. Restrict car parking to hotel guests more thoroughly.
Further Comments: The hotel is quite tired and needs a makeover (woodchip wallpaper and dated furniture. The room needed redecorating and the mattress replaced. We were disturbed by the noise of the corridor doors and my wife was unable to sleep until 2am due to noise of music downstairs. The dining room was very uninviting and dowdy. The breakfast menu was either a full fry or cereals. Nevertheless it was well cooked and adequate. I think the price was high for the quality of the accommodation compared with other establishments that we have stayed in. It was difficult to find a space in the car park which was obviously being used by people other than guests.

Bad Points: We stayed in a room with a 4 poster bed - the room was clean but in need of redecoration as it was very dark and gloomy
Further Comments: We were generally disappointed with the service and the accomodation. On checking in we were not asked if we required breakfast or informed the arrangements for this. We were not told at any stage that on the Friday night there would be a disco which continued until 2.30 am and on the Saturday night that there would be a live band performing until the same time. After the events on both nights fights occurred outside the window of the room we were staying. We did wish to complain about this when checking out but there was no staff available either to take payment for the room or to speak to about our concerns. Furthermore, we required room service for drinks which was advertised in the room but when requested were told that this service was not available. A very disappointing stay.

Good Points: Clean if a little tired.
Further Comments: Well located, reasonable hotel. The accommodation is clean if a little worn, public areas are OK, staff either good or OK. Would stay there again

Further Comments: good...it's not the greatest hotel in the world...but if you want to visit the city, it's near the centre. The hotel is good if you're going to sleep and nothing more.

Bad Points: The shower area didn't look very clean and the bathroom floor was not clean when I went into it.
Further Comments: It was difficult to get to sleep until about 5.00 am when it was finally quiet. There was a lot of noise coming from the bar up until 1.00 pm and then a lot of noise from people, motobikes and cars outside the main entrance (unfortunately my room was immediately above it).

Good Points: The room was large.
Bad Points: Availability of food in the evenings.
| Further Comments: I felt that the hotel was not good value for money. I was attending a course and had limited time - breakfast was very slow (at the weekend I had to go without a cooked meal as the staff were late starting food preparation). After a full days work I needed a hot meal but on both the Friday and Saturday there was no food available. I therefore had to go out (on my own in an unfamiliar place) to find a hot meal.
I will use Holiday Inns in future. |

Good Points: I had to come back late from working, and the hotel put a sandwich in the kitchen for me to eat.
Bad Points: Making rooms non-smoking, cleaner should not smoke, non-smoking breakfast room, better choice of breakfast food.
Further Comments: Not very nice, however, it was not my choice to stay here. I would never choose to stay above a pub.

Good Points: Convenient location for transport etc.
Bad Points: Could be quieterA
Further Comments: A reasonable hotel for the price in an area with not much choice. Being on the high Street it was a little bit noisy with traffic and late night revellers. Breakfast ok. No complaints.

| Bad Points: the breakfast room was untidy with not enough clean places for 8 of us. There was no attendant to be found for at least 10 minutes after which time a young girl turned up wearing rubber gloves.
On our return to the Hotel on the Saturday evening we hoped for a quite night cap but were met by a live band in a night club situation. |

Good Points: Classy rooms, clean and tidy.
Bad Points: Check in took abit longer than expected as there was no one on front desk.
Further Comments: I would stay at the Royal Hotel again, the rooms are excellent. Very clean and the facilities are everything you would expect. I would recommend this hotel to any young couple however with the music on a Friday night it might not be suited to everyone's tastes.

Good Points: Not a bland chain hotel.
Bad Points: Windows didn't fit - draughty.
Further Comments: Should mention that music below room continues until midnight and bar closes at 1am. Accomodation adequate and clean - watch out for the creaky floorboards!

Good Points: Large, clean room. Lots of hot water and good bathroom
Bad Points: Being told food was available up to 9.00pm on arrival and then being told only an hour later that no food at all was available on any evening including the day of arrival.
Further Comments: Good room, but can't rely on there being any food available
