Good Points: clean, adequate for one night and good breakfast
Bad Points: The shower was very weak in power and took a long time to get warm. The bed was adequate but not the most comfortable. The noise travelled a lot and you could here people walking on the floor upstairs. I am glad I had ear plugs with me or I may not have slept to well
Further Comments: Adequate accomodation for one night although there needs to be a little bit more attention to detail. Breakfast was good and the staff were helpful. A great location and nice character.

Further Comments: One of the best short break hotels I have found. The breakfasts were very good, the staff pleasant and helpful. The room was basic, but very comfortable. The only drawback was the very small shower room which was difficlult to manage.

Good Points: friendly staff, clean room close to the town
Further Comments: Ideal if you are travelling for business on your own and would like something with a bit more soul than a TravelLodge,but not so small you feel like your staying in someones home.

Bad Points: Too expensive for the standard of the room and facilities
Further Comments: There were irritations like a toilet seat that wouldn't stay up without being held, poorly fitting shower door, inoperative ventilator in bathroom, no bedside table on one side. Otherwise the room was acceptable with some nice furniture and the hotel had welcoming staff. We felt that it was expensive for the facilities offered though. At this price there is usually a radio and satellite TV and often a pool or other facilities. This was of the standard of a ￂﾣ55 double room hotel, not ￂﾣ90. It was conveniently situated which was a plus point.

Bad Points: No bar and noise from stairs and banging doors at the bottom of the stairs.
Further Comments: We were welcomed and showed to our rooms which had four poster beds. One room had a king sized bed with an ensuit with bath. The other room had a double bed and n ensuit with a shower. Considering we paid the same for both rooms the double room was smaller! In the rooms we had tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There were bottles of water each day. The rooms were cleaned daily. We found breakfast quite early for a weekend 830-930 and only managed to get there twice. On one occasion we arrived at 920 and were told that they were not expecting us and so had turned the kitchen off, however they did open it again and we had a lovely full breakfast. Our rooms were at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. There was a staircase between our rooms and a door leading to outside. We were woken by people walking up and down the stairs and banging the doors. On a couple of mornings (sat and sun) we were woken at 9 by a workman working on the shed outside our window! We enjoyed our stay and found it to be located in a quite area of Newport. Although they did not serve food through out the day there was a great pub around the corner next to the river. It was disappointing that the hotel did not have a bar.
