Good Points: location was easy to get to
Bad Points: Horrified to pay ￂﾣ14 to park overnight - should have been included in the hotel room price. This is not standard practice (as reception tried to inform me) and totally disproportionate to any parking charges I have - including London. Charging for parking during the day is absolutely fine - but not for overnight for paying hotel customers. The lift was difficult to use when loaded down with luggage; and the sink in my room had a partial blockage (I left a note concerning that). The room had a sash window left open presumably to cool the room - but it was too high to shut without balancing on the sill or a chair - and even then I couldnt reach it! this meant a noisy night from traffic and locals.
Further Comments: It wasn't the worst by any means, but the parking charge really did irritate me - especially when the gentleman on reception suggested it was free for me to park 'on the street' if I didnt like it!

Bad Points: Dirty, dusty room. TV did not work. Air con did not work. Had to order breakfast twice. Hot Breakfast was poor (egg & suasage not fully cooked)
Further Comments: Shocking, I WOULD STAY IN THIS HOTEL AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT AND WILL BE PUTTIN A REVIEW ON TRIP ADVISOR ADVISING PEOPLE TO AVOID STAY THERE!!!!!

Good Points: Staff very helpful - we left some items in the room after check out and the reception staff acted quickly to ensure they were found and held at reception for us to collect.
Bad Points: Room very small and smelt musky - TV not working - air con did not work, we had to opened the window - woken by road works that started very early on the Sunday morning, if we had been told we would have stayed at another hotel ? this was my girlfriends birthday and it was ruined
Further Comments: From the description of the hotel we were left disappointed.

Bad Points: Whilst the room price was fairly expensive (ￂﾣ165), the standard of decor of the room was extremely dated (in a bad way). The air conditioning in our room didn't work, and we were moved to an ungraded room. The room was slightly bigger than the last, but aside from a 4 poster bed (which was a shoddy one at that) was not much better than the previous room. I'm glad I hadn't paid the extra. Also the TV didn't work in the upgraded room, and we were told this was a problem across the Hotel which wouldn't be rectified until after our stay.
Further Comments: The Hotel is in bad need of modernising, at the rates it currently charges

Good Points: location,exellent breakfast,shame about the staff,brings a whole new meaning to the words self service. (or as we say if you want a job doing do it yourself.
Bad Points: bathroom too small,electrical appliances need attention,air contioning not adquate,try a smile on reception a sense of humour would help!!

Bad Points: Cleanliness not brilliant. Room smelt musty and old. Decor very shabby. Leaky shower.
Further Comments: Staff helpful, polite and friendly. Decor very shabby and the hotel looked very tired and in need of an update. Hotel not very clean, the glass doors were filthy, wallpaper was peeling off the walls, I found a toenail on the floor near the skirting board after the cleaner had been in (not mine!), the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and the general look of the bathroom was old and worn. I have stayed at The Grand in Brighton, another De Vere hotel, and this hotel was like its much poorer relation. I would not recommend this Hotel because i don't think it provided value for money, however, the location was excellent.

Bad Points: It took more than 12 hours to fix the internet connection.

Good Points: The room had a superking bed, which was extremely comfortable
Bad Points: The decor could have done with being updated - the bath room in particular was looking tired, especially the bath!
Further Comments: The hotel was centrally located, 5 min walk from Cambridge Centre. We had a booked a standard room & although quite adequate for an overnight stay, due to the size of the bed, there was not much room left. The bathroom was looking worse for wear & could have done with being replaced. However, everything was extremely clean & well presented.

Good Points: A truly 'grand' hotel in a very convenient location, with quiet views
Bad Points: Outside paintwork in serious need of renovation. Some small technical problems (eg TV switch)

Good Points: Co-ordinated fabrics and carpet used in the room. Matching furniture.
Bad Points: Heater which had to be controlled by a hand held electronic device. No instructions available. The set up seemed unecessarily complex.Toilet handle loose.
Further Comments: We were most impressed by all the staff who were always pleased to help in any way that they could ~ reception, car parking, dining room. The only meal that we had was breakfast which was in buffet form., There was a wide choice of food. The hot dishes were constantly replaced and had no chance to congeal or overcook.ￃﾂￂﾣ12 seems expensive to park for 24 hours.
