Good Points: The ensuite was nice and well aquipped.
Bad Points: We were told we were getting a superior double. Our room was very small and had obviously seen better days. The rug was filthy as was the carpet. The stair carpet to get to my room was very dirty.
Further Comments: From the website the rooms looked a great deal better than the one in which we stayed. It would have been nice to know that my daughter's room was over on the other side of the hotel.

Good Points: It is very central. Right in the town with the shops on your doorstep
Bad Points: Had to wait at the front desk with no one to receive me for at least 15mins pressing the buzzer when i first arrived.
| Further Comments: I was told the food is very nice even though I didn¬タルt get chance to taste any.
The breakfast finished too early so I didn't have any of that either.
I didn¬タルt like the fact that you had to walk through the restaurant to get outside. Handing the keys to reception each time was not good because you had to wait for someone to come out each time.
The room was small but clean but the water pressure in the room needs sorting.
It is a very basic no frills hotel that is in need of a makeover. |

I really enjoyed the location, full in the centre of town, in the hub of things. Would stay there again. |

Good Points: Central to all ameneties in Ipswich, also right next door to a Whether Spoons pub.
Bad Points: I was woken early by Pigeons on my window ledge. They could do with some sort of Anti Pigeon device.
Further Comments: The hotel was generally very comfortable. Parking was a bit tight but bearing in mind it is in the town centre a bonus. Staff were generally pleasant but it is a shame it is now a noodle and not a traditional pub.

Good Points: The staff were friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel itself was good.
Bad Points: We had a Superior Room, but this meant it was overlooking the main sqaure itself, as a result we had very little sleep on both nights. I thin that the fact the room overlooks the square is actually a disadvantage rather than a benefit and would advise not to choose these rooms.
Further Comments: Apart from the lack of sleep the hotel was friendly and pleasant, good breakfast and location. I would recommend this hotel, but be aware of the noise issues.

Good Points: It was really central to Ipswich and in particular the IpArt exhibition we wanted to see. The car park at the rear of the hotel was also a good feature in the middle of town
Bad Points: It was a little noisy on Sunday morning with the square getting cleaned
Further Comments: This was a busy little hotel and our visit started on a very busy Saturday so we had to be patient and accept our booking in could not be before 3pm. The staff were friendly and very helpfull. We had a great week end in Ipswich

Good Points: Very clean and quiet room.
| Further Comments: The uniformed staff were polite, efficient and readily available.
The restaurant is beautiful, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were both efficient and friendly whilst non-intrusive. The many common areas were well furbished and restfull. An ideal place to stay for either short or long periods. Well worth the extra journey along the A14 from Ipswich
We will definitely be re-booking. |

Good Points: room was clean and comfortable, nice view
Bad Points: cooked breakfast was cold and took ages to arrive
Further Comments: Generally good, liked the room, but the staff member who was on at breakfast seemed a bit overwhelmed and as previously mentioned, we had to wait quite a while for the cooked breakfast and then the food arrived cold.

Good Points: Location, breakfast, free parking
Bad Points: Small room, Noodle Bar on ground floor
Further Comments: Great location overlooking the market square with a free car park immediately behind the hotel and an excellent cooked breakfast. I'd heard that it could be noisy due to the market setting up in the morning and late night revellers at the nearby clubs. Our room (no 6) was a quieter room but very small. We had no problems getting to sleep. The ground floor of the hotel had been converted into a noodle bar which totally spoiled the character of the place. However there was a good traditional English pub next door.

|
Good Points: Proximity to city centre
Bad Points: Because the ground floor of the hotel building is a restaurant, the noise level was more than I wanted.
Further Comments: This hotel is conveient to the town centre as well as the train station. Its only drawback is that it is noisy at nights, as there are pubs and restaurants nearby, and the town square.

Good Points: The cleanliness and overall state of the room and the privacy given to us by the hotel staff.
Bad Points: One of us left behind a piece of clothing. When we called the next morning, the item had been removed and thrown away. It would have been more appropriate if it had been kept for at least a couple of days. It would have been even better if the hotel staff had contacted us to inform us that they had found something we had left behind. It would have been a great service.
Further Comments: Overall we have had a wonderful stay at the Golden Lion hotel. The room was really clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and obliging. We thought the hotel would be bigger than it actually is, but we did not mind that at all.
