Good Points: Good location
Bad Points: The breakfast was poor in range & choice, the tea was stewed, the orange juice was Sunny D sugar, there was limited parking.
Further Comments: The lobby looks great, but the rooms are faded and shabby. The breakfast was especially poor, a great disappointment.

Good Points: I thought that the accommodation was clean and tidy the rooms were spacious. I thought the area was nice and even though there is alot of students around it was very quiet, i did enjoy my stay and could not fault it.
Further Comments: The only thing i would have liked to have known is that the train station is called west jesmond which is not far from the hotel as me and my friend got off at jesmond and had a good walk.

Bad Points: The bed & pillow were so uncomfortable that i couldnt sleep plus the fire alarm going off for no reason at 2.30am didnt help. The bar closed at 11pm .
Further Comments: For the first time in my life i checked to see what time the 1st train home was so i could go home to my own bed I have never been in such an uncomfortable bed plus the fire alarm went off at 2.30am. I will never book with Cairn Hotels again.

Good Points: Proximity to the event I was attending. A teapot in the room. A window that you could open. The Breakfast was good.
Bad Points: Not really a 'dislike' item, but the chrome rail that the shower head holder slides up and down on, was loose. Not a major problem as the shower head was the detachable hand-held type. I didn't think about it long enough to mention it to Reception, though perhaps I should have.
Further Comments: The hotel was quiet, though in a busy night-life area. It seemed to suit a wide range of guests - couples with young children, ladies alone, groups of blokes who could have been on a leisure weekend (one was wearing a bandage for a top-of-the-head injury on Sunday morning). Breakfast was good and offered plenty of choice. Coffee was fine. Parking is convenient behind the hotel, but watch out for the telegraph pole when reversing out of the parking bays into the back lane. It's not that easy to spot and I managed to tap it - though so slowly that there's just a smudge on the bumper.

Good Points: Bathroom was very nice, room was good size, price was very competitive and the parking was okay (I was early enough)The breakfast was excellent and the staff were attentive.
Further Comments: I have to say that as I was on a very tight budget, the price was very good compared to the other hotels that I was given adresses for. My companion who also stayed in a single room, was very pleased that we had stayed in Jesmond rather than down town by the Quayside, she like the general ambience of Osbourne Road, and our taxi, booked by the hotel staff, was very speedy in arriving, and not expensive. I thought I might hear other people through the walls, but actually that was not the case. There was noise outside during the night, but as I was on the rear side, I could hear nothing that was disturbing. For a brief stay I enjoyed the night.

Good Points: The hotel is in a nice area for local shops and restaurants, the staff are helpful and some of the rooms nice, although some in need of a little attention.
Bad Points: The first room I was shown was badly in need of refurbishing, however I knew they could do better as I'd stayed there before. I was offered a much nicer room, however I had to run the shower for 15 minutes before getting any warm water.
Further Comments: This is a decent hotel, however it seems to need a little attention - perhaps the reviewers should visit more regularly to ensure they are aware of the state of the rooms. I was very slightly disappointed.
