Marwell Hotel near Southampton: Southampton Hotels

Good Points: The staff were brilliant, very friendly and efficient, can't fault the customer service. Also, the hotel itself and the grounds were lovely, a very enjoyable experience.
Bad Points: The heating seemed quite high during the night, but we found in the morning we could've changed that.
Further Comments: The whole family loved it and we are now considering returning for a longer break. Its a very nice hotel with well-trained staff who were very helpful. The pool could've been a bit warmer but on the whole it was a great stay.

Bad Points: nothing to dislike
Further Comments: we enjoyed our stay at the hotel as it was booked for us as a present so we never knew where we were going, and it was a lovely suprise, the hotel was great, the only thing that i might have changed would be the resturant, even tho the food was great, it would hav ebeen nice to have a different choice to eat in the resturant.

Good Points: very impressed by the food, dinner was excellent, would recommend the rack of lamb.
Further Comments: thought the whole place was a bit overpriced, upgraded to an executive room before arriving and asked for a 4 poster bed, this didnt happen and was dissapointed as my partner and i were celebrating a very special occasion. wanted her to be really impressed when we entered the room instead i had to leave her there while i went and sorted it out, not the start i had planned. after this we found we had no towels or shower gel or any other bathroom stuff, realised about the towels after bathing so had to sit there and wait for some to be brought. overall i was really dissapointed, i wanted to make it special for my fiance and that certainly didnt happen, working in the travel industry i dont think i would recommend your hotel at the moment.

Good Points: Very clean, spacious and relaxing.
Further Comments: Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The service in the restaurant was excellent. We were sorry we had to leave and will definitely be returning.

Further Comments: very good value stay, very clean, staff friendly, the grounds could do with updating, outside of building looking a bit tatty, nice gardens would complete the overall experience.

Good Points: Rooms where nice and in touch with the zoo.
Bad Points: Dirty towells and bath in the room.
Further Comments: The restaurant was fully booked and the hotel is in the middle of no where so we had to spend 1 hour trying to find somewhere in Winchester. Despite paying over ￂﾣ120 the hotel still very kindly added a service charge which was optional but still very embarassing to ask to have it taken off.

Good Points: The accommodation was clean (as were the sheets & towels etc). The beds were comfortable and the room was an adequate size. The amenities (tea, coffee, cups etc) were also fine. The only very minor issue was a squeaky bathroom door.
Bad Points: I don't think we had any real criticisms. Very minor points were: 1. A squeaky bathroom door. 2. The bottom catch on the sliding balcony door didn't work.

Good Points: The hotel was quite unusual and we liked that - room was a good size and restaurant excellent food and service
Bad Points: Swiming pool area was not very clean in the changing rooms. Also, wedding was going on and lots of noise and disruption from children in bar area and corridors. Appeared only one bar area for hotel guests and wedding reception which was quite noisy

Good Points: Hotel was great and a little different with the African theme, the staff were helpful and freindly,an enjoyable stay
Bad Points: Beds and pillow a little to hard
Further Comments: A very enjoyable stay with freindly and helpful staff. The African Safari Lodge theme was fun and made the stay more memorable than the usual business hotel overnight stay. I had one of the tatstiest and best cooked steaks of my life in the resteraunt and I look forward to trying some of the other dishes when I return. I will visit again when I am in the area.
