Good Points: Excellent annexe....five miutes walk to lovely Globe pub, another 10 mins walk to town centre, ten more to Odeon another 5 to Snow Dome
Further Comments: The lady proprietor was most helpful, especially as I arrived by M/cycle and she saw me safely out of the steepish hidden drive on Gungate Hill when I left.

Good Points: Location was good, staff were friendly & left me alone to come & go as I please.
Bad Points: The parking arrangements were horrendous. I had to reverse down the drive into a main road.
Further Comments: A one night stay is arguably not enough to form an impartial review upon but I felt that the hotel was perhaps slightly understaffed as I was wandering around for about fifteen minutes trying to find someone with whom I could check-out. Otherwise the staff were very helpful.

Good Points: Clean, polite staff, pleasant building
Bad Points: Not appropriate for a business traveller. No broadband internet access and no proper desk to work on. I could gain Internet access via the telephone (very slow) but the telephone was nowhere near the only working surface.
| Further Comments: Broadband Internet access is essential for business users. It is very cheap for a hotelier to provide. All other issues are less significant than this one.
The accommodation is fine for a leisure traveller I suspect. |

Good Points: spacious bedroom, quiet, pleasant dining room with comfortable chairs. The proprietor went out of her way to provide exactly what we asked for regarding the room and a light evening meal the latter without previous notification.
Bad Points: Facility tray contents could be a little more generous, and bedroom stool leg was broken. Renewal of bath sealant required.
Further Comments: After we booked we went on line again and found the on-line description of the twin room to be confusing as it appeared not to have ensuite facilities nor a t.v. If we had noticed this at the time of booking , which we did in a hurry , we would probably have booked elsewhere. As it was, we being the only guests in that night, we were given a room in the coach house which was en-suite and had all the facilities that we required..

Bad Points: Accomodation was poor, shower did not work properly and no soap etc provided. Room was very small.
Further Comments: Probably would not stay in a B&B again out of choice.

Good Points: coach house gave a lot of freedom, good (if smallish) cooked breakfast
Bad Points: oldish styled rooms
| Further Comments: Not as cheap as say a travel lodge but not as impersonal or clinical either.
Made to feel welcome when arrived although felt like we were holding owners up when we stayed until the latest check out time on departure day. Useful bar on premises and even some entertainment on one of the nights.
Although enough parking spaces, you can get boxed in if in the wrong bay which could be a problem if you have an early start.
Priced on the high side of reasonable and mostly worth the money.
Rooms were comfortable if a little dated. Definitely no real complaints. Pretty much as expected and we would stay there again. |

Good Points: The Gungate is a particularly lovely restored Victorian Mansion in beautiful order and condition and very comfortable.
Bad Points: There was nothing that I did not like.
Further Comments: The owner, Sue Tipton, was very charming and friendly and extremely helpful. I stayed in the Coachhouse accommodation so that I could come and go more easily. The bedroom and bathroom were roomy and very nicely furnished. The main house dining and lounge areas are magnificent.
