Good Points: Large bedroom and the sea view
Bad Points: We arrived late & found the car park was full.It was quite a distant before we found on street parking.Good job we had no rain!
Further Comments: We had an enjoyable two night stay & found the hotel very comfortable with very helpfull staff .

Good Points: comfortable bed, room size, good shower, coffee making facilities.
Further Comments: Checkin was poor as the girl on duty just went through the motions without the slightest smile of welcome etc. This was not a good first impression. Some of the younger members of staff looked as if they just wanted to get home which was a shame as overall the staff were very efficient. The bar area certainly needs organisation as there was a constant flow of food from the kitchen and some of the staff continually walked around looking for whoever had ordered it. Simple table numbers would solve this. Really good breakfast buffet. Very good location.

Good Points: the service and facilities were of very good standard.
Bad Points: the walls were quite thin and I woke up by a neighboring guest singing in his room - minor issue for me though

Good Points: The room decor was pleasant, and the room service tidy. We liked the big tiled bathroom and its accoutrements: huge bath towels, good personal items like shampoo etc., and the updated tub and shower apparatus.
Further Comments: We liked the Royal Beach Hotel in Portsmouth because it was in an interesting part of the city and convenient for walking to museums and the historical port, where we spent a day touring and on the port tour by boat. The staff at the hotel were helpful about city transportation services and helped us decide whether and where to take buses or order taxis. They took care to look up facts they didn't know, and they were cheerful about their work.

Good Points: Location. We were at a family gathering which took place at the Pier opposite hotel.
Bad Points: Decor inside hotel was very dated. People smoking outside the front of the hotel. On Sunday morning the floor was covered with cigarette ends. The hotel car park is very tight to park in. There is a small area outside the hotel, which again is very difficult to park in.

Bad Points: very very creaky floorboards above us ,the person above us was up early and the noise of them walking constantly around woke us at about 5am

Good Points: Reception and housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly.
Bad Points: Staff in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. Room was cold with windows that did not close properly but it was noted that the hotel is being refurbished.
Further Comments: The staff on reception were really helpful and knowledgable about transport and events in the Portsmouth area. The hotel is nicely situated in a reasonably quiet area of Southsea so there is little disturbance from the student population. I booked it because it had a secure private car park and this is an essential for Southsea in my opinion. The car park was quite tight but the car was definitely safe. The real disappointment was with the breakfast service. The food was not what I'd expected from the hotel and the staff seemed indifferent to the needs of the customer. This undid the positive impression that I'd received from reception and I did not bother with breakfast after the first day of my stay. There is a lift but it is quite slow at times. This wasn't a problem for me but would be a consideration for a guest with restricted mobility.

Bad Points: TV had poor reception - no C5, noise even on BBC1, poor text recption. asked for retune on next day and even worse. Wifi connection didn't reach to room - and I was on 1st floor. Bar man in lounge bar was run off his feet - no one from kitchen would bring out meals resulting in luke warm food arriving.
Further Comments: For the cost (ￂﾣ70/night) I would expect a little better in terms of TV/wifi, but room was good size with sea view which was nice for ,y longer stay.

Good Points: We arrived late at night and reception was open 24 hours so that was great. Our room was very small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included and was substantial.
Bad Points: We were on a seven week trip and this was the smallest room we stayed in.
Further Comments: I think you need to indicate that the rooms are very small. The decor is tired but that can be overlooked if clean, which this hotel was. We had a room at the back and although a non-smoking room smoke poured in from the smokers below.There was no airconditioning so the window had to stay open and the smell of smoke prevailled.we only stayed one night after a ferry journey and our bed was comfy and we slept well which of course is the most important.

Bad Points: if the hotel has a function on the car park is very limited. we also found the room beds to be very uncomfortable.
Further Comments: general carpark facility at the hotel very poor if a function is on ie wedding.we were offered council carpark ten minuets walk away not good if you own expensive vehicle. staff did manage to get my car in carpark with some shuffling about.
