Good Points: The hotel is very grand and top of the range, The facilities were good and the lounge area excellent.
Bad Points: The view was poor, the windows were dirty and there were some cobwebs on the windows.
Further Comments: I did enjoy my stay. The hotle is ideally situated in the heart of Newcastle's nightlife and also in close proximity to a number of excellent restaurants. The hotel is queit despite the nightlife. The staff that I encountered were very helpful and there was no complications.

Good Points: The location is great
Further Comments: The locatoin of the hotel is great for access to St. James' Park, the local nightlife and sightseeing. I found the concierge to be extremely helpful with places to eat/drink etc. The shower and bath was so powerful.

Good Points: Good personal and helpful service, very good standard of accomodation, and in an excellent location.
Bad Points: Our only dislikes about the hotel were the difficulties in finding the place when first arriving in Newcastle. Also the hotel could only be improved by having a swimming pool.
Further Comments: We enjoyed a pleasant stay in the Vermont Hotel. The hotel is classical and traditional. It was great to stay in a hotel with some character and to be treated as true guests. This makes a pleasant change compared to chain hotels where you can feel like a room number and not an individual. We highly reccomend this hotel to people looking for a hotel in the city centre.

Good Points: Hotel is in perfect location just off the river tyne and around the castle walls, within easy walking distance of all amenities, Staff are ever present and very courteous, also free valet parking and added bonus not found in many other hotels in Newcastle
Bad Points: The shower was very much large let down of the hotel, when you pay so much to stay(ᆪ240 2 nights) you do not expect a 2 star rated shower system plenty pressure for an ice cold shower but a dribble you can hardly get under when warm, very dissapointing! The room overall was nothing you wouldn't get at say Jurys for ᆪ70 a Night plus you would get a power shower!
Further Comments: Ideal Location , Free Parking, very Courteous Staff really a hotel for well to do mature people not really for young couples and especially not a group of revellers, Water System needs upgraded in Bathrooms to match the High Priced Accomodation

Good Points: A comfy and clean room. The lights were good for reading (so often a weakness in hotels for some reason). Our room was at the back and overlooked the railway line, but the double glazing meant we could barely hear the trains.
Further Comments: It would be worth asking for a river facing room. It is a very good hotel (though not of course cheap!) for a city centre break - everything is in walking distance.

Good Points: Central position, very relaxing lounge and bar area. The concierge on duty at all times was a mine of local information and had just the right attitude to service.
Bad Points: Housekeeping, our bed was not properly made, just had the cover put back on, but sheets were not straightened or pillows plumped
Further Comments: Newcastle was a great place for a week end and the Vermont Hotel added to one of the best breaks ever. On booking the trip, I wanted to stay at Malmaison as my husband has stayed there on business trips before. However he was adamant that the Vermont was by far the better hotel with the finest breakfast in Newcastle. Having walked into Malmaison and found it to be dirty and smoky, I agreed that we had definately stayed in the better hotel.

Good Points: Very spacious room, quiet in the evening and clean and well presented.
Bad Points: More staff manning the bar area.
Further Comments: This hotel was easy to find and in the centre of town. Only 5-10 mins walk from everywhere. Down a hill though so be prepared for some walking. Really clean and friendly atmosphere created by all staff.
