Mardale Guest House near Edinburgh: Edinburgh Hotels

Good Points: It was quiet most of the time, nice staff.
Bad Points: It was a little too small.. my boyfriend is very tall and did not fit in the shower. Breakfast was only 45 min.
Further Comments: I wish I knew the size of the room better. I didn't realize the shower was so tight and small. The phone did not work, we coudl not make outside calls. Other than that it was fine.

Good Points: Very convenient location;quiet, yet a pleasant walk to the royal mile. Staff friendly
Bad Points: We found the mattress uncomfortable

Good Points: Close to public transit that allowed quick access to the downtown core.
Bad Points: Everything about the place was little underwhleming - room, breakfast and the proprietors.

Good Points: Very quiet and nice room, good breakfast in nice dining room, friendly host. Convenient walking distance from city center, good bus availability.
Bad Points: Lack of free car parking. Small room and bed, no table to do writing, very small bathroom with no place to place own things.
Further Comments: Expensive considered the small size of room and bath and no parking.

Good Points: Everything we expected was there.
Further Comments: The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to walk to the city centre comfortably from the hotel. The only problem was not related to the hotel, that being parking in the area is in very short supply.

Good Points: The room was VERY spacious, toilet/shower facilities very clean and the room was generally in a good condition.
Bad Points: There were no problems with the accommodation.
Further Comments: Very nice guest house, recommended. Breakfast was slightly too early, but good and filling.

Further Comments: The guest house was in a quite and friendly area of Edinburgh,(5-10 mins bus ride) the room we stayed in (room 2) was quite small with separate bathroom, decor bit dated, fair choice for breakfast, the owners were friendly and helpful - they gave us a card with what bus's to catch to city and back again, were to eat etc.No good for people with mobility problems as you had to go upstairs for breakfast.

Good Points: Lovely people, very nice room which was clean and bright.
Further Comments: The hosts at Mardale are very down to earth, friendly and helpful. They were a wealth of information and only too happy to help. The guesthouse is close to a bus stop and it was very easy to get to the city centre.
