Christopher North House Hotel near Edinburgh: Edinburgh Hotels

Good Points: Great apartment on Royal Mile. Excellent position to explore the Old Town. Heating good.Fixtures and fittings generally good.
Bad Points: The cleaning was poor, sitting room not hoovered crumbs on floor, microwave dirty, fridge dirty, no dishwasher tablets or hand/tea/oven gloves towels, pots and pans appalling. No teapot. All kitchen draws filthy.
Further Comments: These apartments are great but they need to be maintained to the same standard as the hotel room. I have not stayed in one of your hotel rooms but I suspect the cleanliness will be good. This is the standard for the apartments. The cleaners arrived late and appeared rushed. Maybe more cleaners required on the apartments.

Further Comments: Very clean and well furnished ￢ﾀﾓ loved the dￃﾩcor. Everyone was welcoming, helpful and informative. Although a ￢ﾀﾜlittle cosy￢ﾀﾝ in the breakfast room, the breakfast was well presented and tasty. We did have to make our own bed which as strange, but didn￢ﾀﾙt spoil anything for us. My husband loved the TV- it was huge!

Good Points: Space
Further Comments: The apartment was a bit cut off and while reviewing the details I got the sense that it would be part of a serviced building; only to discover it was a single apartment. No lifts or concierge so had to carry our luggage up two flights, even though we w ere told it's on the first floor! Otherwise it was great.

Further Comments: i have to say one the best hotels i have stayed with extremely friendly and helpfull staff that couldnt do enough for you, well worth staing in when visiting edinburgh and only a short walk to the shops. pubs etc....

Good Points: The decor was very nice and the room was well serviced. The room had a massive flat screen TV with freeview and a DVD player.
Bad Points: We had a room with twin beds but they did not butt up against the wall so the pillows disappeared down the back of the bed and it was difficult to sit up in bed to read or watch TV. The room was very hot, even after turning the radiator off. There was no lift, but the staff did offer to carry our bags up and down the stairs, which was appreciated.
Further Comments: We arrived early and the hotel staff were very helpful and allowed us to store our bags until check-in time, giving us directions into town and information about where to eat, shop and visit. When it came to check-in time, they started to escort us to a hotel annex next door, but when we complained they sorted out a room in the hotel quickly and gave us coffee while we waited. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our visit.

Good Points: Un accueil vraiment trￃﾨs chaleureux et sympathique de la part de tout le personnel. La chambre ￃﾩtait trￃﾨs spatieuse et joliment dￃﾩcorￃﾩe, fidￃﾨle aux photos du site.
Further Comments: Sￃﾩjour trￃﾨs agrￃﾩable, le personnel de cet hￃﾴtel est charmant et disponible. La chambre a ￃﾩtￃﾩ mise ￃﾠ notre disposition dￃﾨs notre arrivￃﾩe, avant l'heure prￃﾩvue. Le petit-dￃﾩjeuner est lui aussi de qualitￃﾩ avec un excellent service discret et aimable.

Further Comments: Hotel in great location. We stayed in the Scott Suite which has private access to the rear garden. The room is huge for two and could easilly handle a family with 2 children. One minor complaint is faint smell of cigarette smoke in the room. Staff more than helpful and very pleasant.

Good Points: Staff were excellent, very professional and always friendly. Room was spacious and well presented, very clean Area has many close by amenities, including bars and restaurants. The views of Edinburgh from the rooms are amazing
Bad Points: There were no elements of the hotel that I disliked. The one thing to mention would be that there are no lifts within the hotel and therefore if you have issues with stairs then it would be worth ensuring you obtain a room on the ground or first floor. I would add though for people who are happy to walk up a couple of flights of stairs the lack of lifts does not pose any issue.
Further Comments: The staff within the hotel made our stay very pleasant. They were friendly and helpful at all times and very professional. The hotel is well placed for access to Edinburgh city centre but is also far enough away not to be disturbed by the city noises should you want a quiet night. It was clean and very well presented and had a homely feel about it often lost in big city hotels. It is certainly somewhere we would stay again and we have in fact already planned our next visit.
