| Good Points: staff - river location | |||
| Bad Points: old fashioned, needs a makeover | |||
| Further Comments: On balance this is worth a visit, mainly because of the very friendly and helpful staff, and the lovely Tyneside location. Had we stayed in one of the fifth floor luxury rooms, our experience may have been better. Our first floor room was shabby, and in need of modernisation. The carpets were awful. Breakfast was the usual standard buffet, but the smoked fish was a good additon. The cooked breakfast looked awful, and we didn't touch it. Th location is quiet and yet only ten minutes walk away from the Baltic and central Newcastle. | |||

| Good Points: River view, especially of the bridges, not spoilt by views of oil depot!! Convenience to Town centre and quayside. Proximity of good value,clean cafes serving breakfast to a varied clientele - a bacon, egg and black pudding stottie is beter than a continental breakfast anytime! Excellent car parking and free!! Staff genuinely friendly and helpful | |||
| Bad Points: Room rather tired Tap difficult to stop dripping, skirting missing, cracked tiles poorly repaired, Heating inadequate even after intervention of staff. Staff were prompt however and also provided fan heater quickly | |||
| Further Comments: Minor concerns only regarding tiredness of rooms | |||

| Good Points: Great room with very friendly staff. | |||
| Bad Points: A small gripe is that the built in hairdryer was poor. | |||
| Further Comments: Our first impressions were very good with a lovely foyer and check-in staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. Our room was great with little extras like robes on request and the cleanliness was outstanding.The location was also excellent with everything we needed within walking distance. Highly recommended. | |||

||
| Good Points: Nice sized room, overlooked the river. | |||
| Bad Points: Breakfast was far too expensive! We had a good breakfast round the corner from the hotel for ᆪ4! ᆪ15.95 is far too much! | |||
| Further Comments: We were willing to pay the ᆪ79 for the room but felt that breakfast should have been included. I hope the management take note of this comment as I'm going to tick the yes box to the following question. | |||

| Good Points: Clean, spacious rooms overlooking the River Tyne, within easy walking distance of the city along the riverbank with wonderful views across the Tyne. | |||
| Bad Points: We appreciate business customers expect to be served promptly at breakfast, however as we were on holiday we didn't appreciate our cooked breakfast arriving on the table before we had finished our cereals. We thought the waiters were a little too keen. | |||
| Further Comments: The staff were very friendly and the accomodation excellent. The walk along the river in front of the hotel into Newcastle was wonderful. We were happy with our online booking and weren't disappointed when we arrived at the hotel. It was rather expensive but we thought it a super hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. | |||

||
| Good Points: Good views | |||
| Bad Points: Could hear the piped music from downstairs very clearly in the bedroom and from an early time which disturbed our sleep | |||
| Further Comments: Rooms were very hot, not enough refreshments in room ie milk cartons for tea and coffee. Window did not stay open properly. Bar prices were very extravagant | |||

| Good Points: the connoiseur room and longe. a king size bed is important. the service offered in the lounge was good apart from breakfast when we had to wait 30 mins for orange juice which when it arrived was very poor. | |||
| Bad Points: the leisure club. the gym and pool area are tired. paint peeling off the walls on poolside etc. the changing rooms a bit tatty. | |||
| Further Comments: it would be nice to be greeted by a porter to take our bags and park the car. however the receptionist who checked us in was very helpful and pleasant. the room was good, the conoisseur lounge very nice, the wine reception an added bonus. we would stay again. | |||

| Good Points: Room was excellent nice setting, close to centre of city. Staff were great, really friendly & accomodating. | |||
| Bad Points: Food. | |||
| Further Comments: The evening meal was poor - waitress was not well informed by the kitchen. I don't think you get value for money with the food at all. However the hotel did follow up our poor review on their questionnaire. Disappointed that we had to pay extra for breakfast. Also problem with Reception on some of the tv channels. | |||

| Good Points: It was comfortable and had all we needed for a one night stay. The room (125)was very quiet (apart from being woken by some noise in the morning that sounded as if someone was scraping metal chairs across a hard floor above - may have been staff setting up ready to clean etc. | |||
| Bad Points: We didn't stay long enough to judge. It was ok for us. | |||
| Further Comments: It would have been welcome to have breakfast included in the quite high tariff. Great to have carpking included though - and generous sized spaces. | |||

||
| Good Points: reasonably clean though dated decor | |||
| Bad Points: the cot bed was very poor and not fair on the third person in the room | |||
| Further Comments: it was a shame that the lovely seating area was cordoned off for a private business function on the saturday afternoon as i had a couple of hours to meet my friend and sister and we were not able to relax with a coffee. the bar was full of men from a stag party so not so good. worth thinking about for future guests? room and view was fine. breakfast fine though a bit pricey. not many channels on the tv! tioletries could do with improving. service was very pleasant. | |||

||
| Good Points: Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. | |||
| Bad Points: More information about what is available and where within the hotel including costs or availability. | |||
| Further Comments: The booking was excellent over the internet, very quick and easy, the location of the hotel was good as there was great access into the centre of Newcastle. | |||

| Further Comments: Generally excellent. However, I did need to use wireless technology for my laptop to retrieve e-mails and although the directory offered this service, when I rang reception both people seemed vague and said they couldn't help me. This meant I had not done as much work as I would have liked. | |||

||
| Good Points: Friendly efficient staff, excellent facilities, location, and views of the Tyne | |||
| Further Comments: This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location for visiting Newcastle, but again the level of service from all the staff made our stay. | |||

| Good Points: Harry's Restaurant was a great choice to eat. | |||
| Bad Points: Our room No. 230 had to be the worst room in the Hotel. We had a broken bed, and another guests dental floss etc under the bed. The bathroom was in need of URGENT repair. When using the sink the water would not drain and just filled up with junk - definite health hazzard! The sink tap was almost falling off, and the shower head was covered in mildew and limescale. We also visited the Spa and the jacuzzi was murky and very dull looking. Paint was peeling off of the walls, the towels given were old and frayed and half of the sauna had been ripped out. | |||
| Further Comments: I'd booked the weekend as a treat for my husband; I was really upset to book into a 4 star and get the quality of a 2 star. Whilst I appreciate I did not pay the hotels full rates I didn't expect the quality of room to be quite so poor. | |||
