Good Points: Friendly hotel. Room was a good size and quiet. very comfortable. Most staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - particularly bar staff on Saturday night/early sunday morning and the male receptionist on Saturday.
Bad Points: Only one dislike was the initial unhelpfulness of one female member of staff on reception on Saturday, when we enquired about booking a taxi. We were told we should have booked it earlier as they were scarce and then given a bundle of taxi cards to use. After having no joy, a staff member on reception was more helpful and did book a taxi for us. As we had booked into the hotel with no car (the train station being in the next village) it would have been obvious that we would require a taxi at some point, and perhaps it would have been good to advise us at this point of the potential difficulty with taxis. The following day (Sunday) we asked for a taxi and the staff were very helpful.
Further Comments: Again the majority of staff were exceptional and this to me is what makes a hotel special and one I would return to. The cleanliness and condition of rooms and communal spaces was very good.

Good Points: Convenient location, easy parking, spacious room and bed.
Further Comments: It was just an overnight stay so didn't really use any of the facilities, hence the 'Good' rating. We will definitely make use of the hotel again and I have already recommended it to work colleagues.

Good Points: Clean hotel in general. Staff efficient and helpful.
Bad Points: Small, shabby room - sockets coming away from wall as a very pertinent example. No heating. Ridiculous bed (hardly a double). Badly creaking floor. Noise from hotel machinery from 5 am until late night. Buffet breakfast cold. So called superior room for the final night was a major improvement in size and comfort but remained shabby and unheated.

Further Comments: Hotel and room were all up to a good standard and certainly had the character of an old coaching inn.The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food was also of a good quality. It should be noted however that the Crown is situated on a road which can get busy and some may find the traffic noise intrusive, particularly in the morning. The one real improvement I would suggest is getting rid of the musak played at breakfast.

Good Points: It was clean
Bad Points: Noisy, room was cold when we went into it. There was a bath but the taps only allowed for a shower. Bar food and restuarant prices expensive.

Good Points: Easy access to the surrounding attractions. The style of the hotel very good with many original features.
Bad Points: Pillows were rather hard, bathroom a little cramped.

Good Points: the decor was lovely (room 205)
Bad Points: (room 204) was above the kitchen and very noisy through night due to the fridges
Further Comments: The hotel itself is lovely,very oldie worldy with some beautiful pieces of furniture. The staff were very friendly, polite and eager to please. The garden area is very peaceful. Unfortunately the room we stayed in on the first night was above the kitchen and the noise from the fridges was constant through night. We were moved to another room for the second night. This room was beautiful, very plush. I would definately stay here again. Its just a shame that the first room was not as nice as the second one.

Further Comments: I would of liked to have known that the hotel was going no smoking in all public area's the day we arrived. the breakfast was very poor the first morning we went down at 9am and most of the food was dried up. the facilities were poor for a three star hotel. The only good thing i can say about the hotel was the cleandiness of our room. Overall it was a very dissapointing experience.
