Good Points: the old world atmosphere, log fires, peaceful surroundings, the excellent food and the excellent service.

Good Points: It was warm and comfortable and had tremendous character.
Bad Points: Pillows on the bed were uncomfortable; the room was adequate - it gave the impression of being squeezed in; we are now used to duvets rather than restricting blankets.
Further Comments: The staff were excellent - it is such a pity that it has to be foreign staff working hard and cheerfully that show up the terrible state we have been suffering for years! The bar food was excellent as was the breakfast. The floor boards creak terribly - we were fine on the top floor, I hate to think how the people under us must have suffered. Toilet is situated too close to the ensuite door and toilet roll (especially in the middle of the night!). I think it would be better if the wash basin and toilet positions were swapped.(we were in room 207).The electric wiring looked old. But really we enjoyed ourselves so much - I don't think I needed to know more before booking and we may well come again.

Good Points: It was in a nice position for our requirements. The hotel was nice and had character.

Good Points: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything in the room was clean and in good working order. Excellent shower.
Bad Points: It would have been good to be told that we needed to book early for dinner in the restaurant. Having said that, the bar meal was excellent.
Further Comments: Overall it was a fantastic weekend stay in spite of the weather! Would definitely return.

Good Points: The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was generally very relaxing and well presented. The room had a lovely view of the church opposite.
Bad Points: The room smelled strongly of smoke despite us leaving the windows open all afternoon, and the room and bathroom generally looked tired.
Further Comments: The location and hotel facilities were very pleasant and we very much enjoyed the stay. Breakfast and the bar were good and the staff very pleasant. However the room whilst reasonably priced, and therefore it seems excusable that it did not look brand new, smelled strongly of smoke which was in retrospect very disappointing.

Good Points: charicter of building, atmosphere, friendly staff.
Bad Points: showing signs of wear, needs repairs to the minor things, mostly.
Further Comments: pleasent stay, nice hotel, good staff.

Good Points: The hotel is really picturesque.
Bad Points: We had a room at the front of the hotel and the taffic is very noisy!
Further Comments: I would stay there again but ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Good Points: Comfortable beds and well-equipped room. Pleasant lounge, breakfast room and attractive gardens.
Bad Points: Lack of usual soap, bubble bath and shower hat.
Further Comments: We were very pleased with our stay. The receptionist was extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent - good food and good service. Altogether, a very pleasant stay and excellent value.
