London Zoo has an incredible range of over 650 species (around 8,000 animals) and specialises in the conservation and breeding of many endangered species.
The Zoo's 36 acre site located at the northern end of Regent's Park can take a full day to explore. Amongst the zoo's main features are: reptile house, aquarium, penguins, rhinos, camels, big cats, invertebrates house, and nocturnal animal house.
A whole range of activities take place at the zoo during the weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays from 11.30am to 5pm including Discovering Reptiles, Feeding the Pelicans, Penguins, Fish and Snakes, Pony Rides, Elephant Baths and Weighing.
The Zoological Society of London work both locally and with organisations and communities throughout the world to conserve endangered species. Their website contains several interesting stories relating to their conservation projects.
