Kinver Edge is a woodland and heath park stretching across a sandstone ridge which extends into Kingsford Country Park. Where Kingsford is mainly woodland, Kinver Edge has areas of open grass and an enclosed heathland area of special interest. The trees are largely silver birch and oak with ferns interspersed.
There are superb views from the top which can be reached via several routes. You can walk the sandstone ridge which will take you south past the heathland area and seamlessly into Kingsford Country Park.
Several rock houses are carved into the sandstone and were occupied until the 1950's. The wardens house is built onto the sandstone rock face, and was only quite recently restored.
There is wheelchair access to the lower caves at Holy Austin Rock.
Parking is provided along the roadside but can be busy at the weekends, especially in the summer.
The attractive Kinver village centre is only a short distance away and offers a number of shops and pubs. Antique or bric-a-brac fairs take place most weekends at venues in the village.
