The Post Office, pub, school and several picturesque thatched cottages border the village green of Great Tew. The delightful cottage gardens are edged by neatly trimmed hedges, which were part of the planting scheme of John Claudius Loudon, who was responsible for Colonel Stratton's estate, of which Great Tew was a part.
The village is still privately owned which may account for the advanced stages of decay of some of the properties that lie beyond the village green area. I personally find the more delapidated properties more interesting!
St Michael's and All Angels Church is worthy of a visit. It has an Italiante gateway which probably came from Tew Park.
