Fenton House dates from the late 17th Century and remains largely unaltered since then. Whilst the house is simple, but attractive, the real interest of Fenton House lies in the porcelain and keyboard collections it holds.
Fine examples of German and English porcelain were collected by the late Lady Binning, who left both the house and collection to the Trust.
The keyboard collection was a bequeath of Major Benton Fletcher and includes a number of harpsicords, mostly in working order.
The original owner of the house and architect are unknown. The property takes its name from a Mr Fenton, a Baltic merchant who bought it in 1793.
An orchard, roses and vegetable garden can be seen in the walled garden.
