Dunster Water Mill dates from the 18th century but records in the Domesday Book indicate a water mill on this site from 1086. The present mill was in use until 1962 and comparitively recently restored in 1979.
The Mill has interesting features both out and inside. I enjoy working buildings and find the crude, but functional, mechanics quite fascinating. The mill also houses a museum of old agricultural machinery.
This Mill is run and maintained by private funding - NT members have to pay.
Wheelchairs and pushchairs can access the ground floor level at no charge. Please note that car parking is 3/4 mile away.
Dunster itself is a charming little town with many interesting buildings. At the opposite end of the town is Dunster Castle and a large car park.
