Dudmaston is a late 17th century house situated in the Severn Valley overlooking extensive gardens and a lake.
I found the house and interior had very little to recommend it. In the garden, however, is its saving grace; the Dingle.
This wooded valley is a haven for wildlife. It's so quite and peaceful down there, you could be in a different world. Several lakes support a wide range of water fowl, and you can also reach the River Severn along a wide path. It is a fair walk so you may want to consider parking at the NT car park at Hampton Loade and start your Dingle Walk from here.
You can cross the River at Hampton Loade on the small ferry to reach the Station on the Severn Valley Railway, and there are pubs and a restaurant on either side of the River.
Pushchair and wheelchair access is good but the Dingle walk is unsuitable. Self drive powered vehicle available. Toilets adjacent to house.
Attractions near Dudmaston include Wolverhampton, Daniel's Mill at Bridgnorth, Severn Valley Country Park near Alveley, Rays Farm Country Matters at Bridgnorth, Bridgnorth Golf Club near Bridgnorth, Highgate Common at Wombourne, Kingsford Country Park near Kinver.
