Borde Hill is traditional country estate in the area of outstanding natural beauty lying between the town of Haywards Heath and the village of Cuckfield in mid Sussex. The gardens and parkland occupy the 200 acres around the mansion house and contain the best private collection of champion trees in Britain and one of the most comprehensive collections of trees and shrubs in the world. In 1965 the main parts of the gardens were leased to Borde Hill Garden Ltd, a registered charity. Borde Hill Garden is Listed Grade II on the English Heritage register of Parks and Gardens
The Main Garden surrounds the mansion house and is naturally divided into separate areas, or 'rooms' each of which have their own atmosphere and plantings. Of particular note are the Azalea Ring, the Round Dell with the Chusan palm and other exotic species, the Old Potting Sheds with the collection of herbs, and the Bride's Pool with water lilies and Mediterranean style borders.
