Opened in October 2008, Westfield London has 265 shops covering a retail floorspace of some 150,000 square metres. 80% of the stores at the Westfield shopping centre are fashion clothes related, with 40 outlets offering clothes at the luxury end of the market from the boutique style surroundings of The Village. The 5 anchor stores at the Westfield Centre are Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Next, Waitrose and House of Fraser.
Westfield London claims to be the largest in-town shopping centre in Europe and is the 4th largest shopping centre in the UK, with an expected 20 million shoppers a year!
The nearest Tube Stations to Westfield shopping centre are Shepherd's Bush and White City on the Central line, with Wood Lane and Shepherd's Bush Market on the Hammersmith and City line.
If arriving by car you'll be pleased to hear that there are 4,500 car parking spaces beneath the shopping centre with up to 2 hours free parking from Monday to Friday. After the first 2 hours and at the weekend parking is £2 per hour up to 4 hours. Westfield recommend using the postcode 'W12 7SL' in your SatNav to ensure that you arrive at the car park entrance along Ariel Way. There is also a live free car parking space readout on Westfield's website.
The Westfield Shopping Centre caters for a wide range of dining requirements with cuisines from around the world, whether you want a quick snack or 3 course meal. The Southern Terrace catches the sun to provide both indoor and outdoor dining at 17 restaurants, 13 outlets on The Balcony offer a more communal dining experience, The Loft is a family friendly eating area, and the Food Station presents the fast food outlets. In all, their are nearly 50 outlets offering 25 nationalities and styles of cooking.
The Village area of Westfield Shopping Centre offers shoppers that feeling of exclusivity when shopping for luxury brands such as Gucci, Prada, Dior, Burberry Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo, Versace and De Beers, to name but a few.
When Westfield built the shopping centre they also included a new £2 million library for the Shepherds Bush area which has 10,000 titles and includes 25 computer stations.
Green Credentials
Westfield claim to have made sustainability a priority during the build by their own company, Westfield Construction, with one third of the roof area being a green roof, all timber used in construction from sustainable sources, and 50% use of recycled materials. Low water consumption fittings were employed along with a rainwater harvesting system. Down in the car park, there are 30 charging points for electric cars.
