"Poor housekeeping, poor maintenance, poor customer service for problem solving, poor attitude to customers that have saved money online."

We eventually moved ourselves to a room upgrade, after being offered a twin room. This room seemed smaller than the first.

The shower in the room did not work, poor attempt to rectify by staff. Partner was ignored by reception staff; therefore I had to sort the problem out myself. The receptionist sent a maid to fix the shower, then offered a twin room?

"This was a reasonably priced hotel with no frills. Breakfast was plentiful and good. In the evening we ate in the restaurant and were only offered the serve yourself carvery until we asked for A La Carte we had already checked this would be on offer the previous night. Staff said this would be o.k., but we felt they didn't want the extra work! Menu was quite limited but o.k. Ordered some olives which arrived in a gravy boat with no cocktail sticks when we asked for cocktail sticks, waitress returned with a 4 sharp ends of skewers which had been cut! After the meal, husband ordered Irish Coffee from menu and it arrived in tall glass with a jug of milk. We told the serving lady this was not Irish Coffee and she said no one on duty knew how to make one. A long discussion between 4 members of staff was observed! and 20 minutes later a coffee arrived, which looked like a latte. We decided to give up on that and explained how to make one. A minor thing, but why was it on the menu? Not the fault of the staff, but the hotel obviously needs to invest in proper training. Room was cold and was informed heating was timed to come on at 6:30pm, on request housekeeper brought a stand alone electric heater. Overall hotel was very fairly priced, reasonably clean and comfortable, but don't expect too much."

Reasonably priced and good breakfast included.

Room was cold as heating was timed in hotel to come on at 6:30 p.m. They did, on request, provide an electric heater.

"Happy with my stay at the hotel and would book again when visiting Chester providing i continue to get a similar rate with the same facilities."

The room was very clean accept for some damp under the window. The bathroom was like new and the bed and pillows were the most comfortable ones i had ever slept on. The breakfast offered in the restaurant was excellent value for money and i enjoyed eating there.

I like to have bottled water available in the room and have found that in alot of hotels this is offered just like tea and coffee.

"Whether we could have the room requested without hassle, and how far hotel was from chester city, and that the hotel served frozen over-priced average food at exorbitant prices."

    Fairly clean

Didnt allocate room we required, food in bar very basic and way too expensive for frozen food, restarant food looked old and dried up hence bar food.

Nice room, long walk which turned out better as few people needed to pass our room to get to theirs so very quiet. Quiet setting. Good breakfast and it was included in the price! Clean spacious room.

No biscuits with the tea and coffee!!!

"The rooms have all the facilities you need fridge, safe, coffee/ tea making facilities, internet access. The room service menu is extensive with some items available on a 24 hour basis. There are also good restaurant & bar facilities and the breakfast is particularly good, with an extensive range of hot & cold dishes, fruit, cerial, yoghurt & juices."

Modern, stylish, well equiped rooms with comfortable beds.

Check-in staff could have been a little more friendly

"This hotel offers value at the rate I paid but not if you have to pay the displayed rate. Dinner was only a carvery and expensive for what was offered. Breakfast suffered from being on display for too long with many cooked items dried up."

Good well equipped rooms. Good value for price paid

"The staff were friendly and the hotel was lovely and great value for money. The breakfast in the morning was excellent - great choice and lovely quality."

Clean room, nice decor, nice clean bathroom and very good quality breakfast in the morning with plenty of choice

From the outside the Holiday Inn looked a bit grotty so I didn't like the appearance of the place however all my fears were diminished when I saw the inside of the building

The hotel staff are really friendly, I have stayed there before and went back because nothing is too much trouble, I even nominated a staff member EOM.

The noise and lack of supervision around the floors, we are a family of 4 and was woken at 12.30am by unconsiderate guests, we didn't want to go out and confront them ourselves, more staff monitoring would help all guests have a restful night's sleep!
