"The negative points spoilt what could have been a very good stay. There is a sense that there is a will to provide a good stay, which is spoilt by some lack of care in some areas."
Generally helpful staff. Good food on site. Adequate car parking. Plenty of hot water. LCD digital television in room.
Poor reception at check-in. Broken shower spray holder. Out of date and certainly not liquid cream in room on beverage tray. Not very comfortable bed.

"Great. Staff very friendly. Food excellent. Rooms comfortable and cosy."
You really must try the Rock grill night every Friday. Two 8oz Fillet Steaks cooked on a rock on your table for £20.00 per couple. Fantastic.

"Almost packed up at 2am to look for an alternative"
Entry door locked. Had to enter via bar at other end of building. Nobody at Reception desk. Toilet did not flush. Bed broken. Radiator made banging noises all night. NO sleep. Nobody to inform at 1am. Upon checkout, told should have rang the landlords. Not explained on check in

"A quiet, friendly, popular hotel. Has many regulars. Be sure to ask for the door code if going out at night though."
Very quiet hotel. No noise in corridor at night.
Returned to hotel at midnight to find ourselves locked out! A very insignificant notice was stuck on the door asking resident going out to leave thier keys and ask for a door code - no use if you don't see the notice until you're locked out! The staff member who checked us in knew we planned to go out as we asked for the price of a taxi to Xtreme but she did not point this out to us... Rooms basic but clean. Could do with an extra towel per guest and hooks for towels and robes in bathroom. But do not be put off by these things! We WOULD stay there again but would ask for the door code next time!

"very good but gentleman needs lesson in customer serice and manners."
Room ok food good value and female staff very attentive and polite
We were to blame for loss of room key that was found later and handed in but the man who opened the room for us was rude aggressive and sarcastic. We appologised and attempted to sort out the problem without being abused. We drove early the next morning to collect the key and appologised to the female staff for any inconvenience.

"The hotel was okay! The decor was comfortable with good value food on sale in the bar."
Quite location, for a good nights sleep.
The free wifi described in facilities did not work. When asked the staff did not know what the password was and came up with some way-out exscuses as to why it did not work!

"This is an excellent hotel with friendly staff and good service that repesents excellent value for money. I look forward to staying there in future, but not in room 3!"
Very comfortable, good location for me, food good and overall excellent value
I was in room 3, a disabled room not used very often. The shower had that damp smell of lingering water and needs a damn good clean. TV remote didn't work - no excuse for that these days.

"Friendly staff. Clean and with wonderful meals. One minor issue. No receiptionist working on Sunday. Waited 15 minutes to be booked in after 160 mile drive. Staff were very busy with Sunday carvery though. Will stay again in the future."
Clean and friendly

"What a find!! One of the nicest places we've stayed in. We thought we'd give this a try instead of the usual tried and tested formulaic hotels and found it to be homely, well-run with an excellent kitchen offering wonderful food as some of the best prices I've ever seen. Try the Rock Grill experience - I guarantee you'll enjoy it! It just goes to prove that bigger is not always better - some of the big hotels could take a leaf out of this hotel's book. We're now looking for an excuse to be in the area and stay there again soon. Thanks to everyone and especially to 'Sheila of Outhwaite's' in Reception."
Everything from the check-in right through to the check-out. The aromas greeting us from the Carvery area behind the Reception area were wonderful and we couldn't wait to get in and eat. The bar area was lively but it also had a lovely chill-zone where you could unwind and spend some quiet time with your partner cosied-up on the lovely leather sofas.
Absolutely nothing.

Good value for money adequate accomodation.
Our room was a little noisy - close to reception and some private functions.
