"Would recommend this guest house and would go back again"

Although the room was small decoration was clean and very high standard. The high ceilings help to make it seem larger. Very lovely building

"Enjoyed our stay and would recommend it."

Owner of the B&B was very friendly and helpful.

Only small point was the shower in the room. The shower head kept slipping down when the shower was on.

"Due to feeling ill the day before our visit we cancelled the room last minute, but fortunately managed to get the rooms again as my virus went away. The way we were treated was exceptional, extremley considerate given the circumstances. The breakfasts were delicious, although our only comment was the toast was too thick! I like crunchy toast! Visitorwise, a lovely stay and would definitely reccomend it to our family and friends."

The room was a good size and the bath within the room was very comfortable. It was beautifully decorated and the breakfast room also. It had a nice modern feel about it. The hotel was also in easy walking distance of the centre of York ideal for our weekend break.

There was nothing we disliked, however it would have been more comfortable if toilet access was in our room, not on the landing, and a full length mirror in the room would have been useful.

"Staff were friendly and helpfull. The property is a good 20min walk from the centre of town and probably about the same from the race course which is fine in good weather but could make a rainy stay very miserable. Don't bring your car to York!"

Friendly staff, good breakfast, comfy bed, good value for money.

A little too far out of the centre, bedroom furniture a bit 'tired'. Could have done with a later breakfast time on sunday, currently 8am-9am all week.

"We stayed in Room 1 which was a good size, light and airy, with a very comfortable king size bed and excellent shower, my husband particularly liked the cookie jar that came with the tea & coffee. Breakfast was nicely cooked, plentiful and hot with good choices. The owner and his staff were very friendly and helpful."

The Hotel was within 5 minutes walk of the shopping area of York city, was easy to find and had free roadside parking.

"The accomadation was overall excellant for our stay as it was convieant to the city centre, also it had shops , pubs and an excellant Indian curry house just down the road.Very clean attentive staff, who looked after us, and was willing to give us information if needed."

Very near to City centre which enabled us to park the car and leave it for weekend.Clean room and breakfast room, friendly staff overall a very pleasent stay. Would reccomend it as it was quiet at night.

The room we had was on the top floor, with only a small window. We would have preferred a large window. Although it did not detract from us enjoying our stay.If we had ssked we probably could have moved , but we did not bother.

"We enjoyed our stay at the Ashley Guest House and found the owner most helpful and informative. We both felt the room was small and could do with some more hanging space. The shower room/toilet could do with a shelf to put your toiletries"

Clean room, comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast

Room advertised as king size, was on the small side with very little hanging space for clothes

It was close to city centre.

The room was tiny with a window in the ceiling so no view! Breakfast was 8am til 9am which was to early. The pumps for the toilets and running water keep you awake most of the night. Hotel located on a busy street so parking is not very good and our car ended up getting scratched to bits by vandles!

"Definately the walking distance from the centre of York was a plus side. we had a key to let ourselves in and out as we pleased, the accomodation was just right for our few days away with a T.V in room, tea and coffee making facilities and an on-suite shower/toilet. The people were very friendly and helpful in guiding us with where to eat, drink visit etc."

The accomodation was lovely and only a ten min walk from York centre. The owners of the guest house were lovely and very helpful giving us advice on places to eat and visit, and also the flexability of being able to come and go as we please once booked in was great.
