Nothing was really bad, just an ordinary experience

Expensive internet, and given wrong advice about costs

Good location, good facilites, excellent breakfast

There was only one bedside table and light and room felt a bit dark

"Very enjoyable due in the main to the attentive approach of all the Staff and the excellent facilities."

Without exception the staff were all excellent. The quality and presentation of the food was of a consistently high standard.

Bedroom appeared on first inspection to be dark due to a lack of natural light and the use of dark furnishings.

"The stay was fine, however the resturaunt was fully booked and i advide booking a table before your stay, this was something i was not advised. The rooms were great the hotel is in a good location. Pity about the reception staff. "

hotel and facilities are excellent, the room was huge and was comfortable.

The staff were not friendly and largely aloof, i had a few issues which they were not prepared to be helpful on. As a result no part of my stay was explained by recpetion and i felt they were deliberately being difficult.

"overall we were not very impressed"

Booked a taxi the night before, for a interview, which was booked for 8.30am by your front desk who assured me it would be there on time, we were still waiting for it at 8.40am when I went to the desk and asked where it was, no one knew anything about it, luckily another guest had just arrived in a taxi different company and we managed to persuade the driver to take us, the result was that we were late for a very important interview. Also the bed had just a sheet covering half the dirty duvet.

"We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and it was well-situated for the purposes of visiting nearby places of interest such as Chatsworth House and D H Lawrence-related areas. "

Most of the staff were very friendly, the range of food in the restaurant was restricted but good, the room was excellent and nicely decorated. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean and sparkling.

As a conference centre, it is really built for large business gatherings rather than individuals and couples on leisure breaks. As a result, the lounge/bar area and restaurant felt cavernous and uncosy, despite the decor being comfortable and pleasant. We ordered a newspaper for the morning, but it didn't appear - a minor irritation in an otherwise pleasant stay.

Very smooth booking. Hotel is absolutely fantastic and very child friendly! Breakfast was superb!

The website specified that a cot was free of charge for children under 2, however when we checked out there was a charge of

Room was lovely. Staff were very helpful on the phone to suggest alternative local dining arrangements as the restaurant was closed.

Restaurant not open on the Saturday night.

    "Not impressed "

Hotel was clean, nice and modern

Radiator didn't work, room was cold. Was supplied with a fan heater which turns the air dry. No literature in the hotel room for things to do/places to visit locally. Restaurant was closed which is surprising for a Fri night

"Lovely hotel will stay again. Nice breakfast and facilities."

Very nice surroundings and grounds. The hotel was clean and had a relaxed atmosphere.

The room was adequate with a shower that was a little faulty. It would have been nice for the staff to let us know of the activities of the hotel eg a college ball friday night and a wedding on a saturday night.

"Hadn't really loked at the map so didn't realize quite how far out of Nottingham it was. The weekend we stayed the trams were not running beyond The Forest so the journeys in and out were a bit of a nightmare as it wasn't clear where the relief buses were going or where to pick them up from. So accommodation was just fne, but would like to have know that it was a bit inacessible except for cars."

    Lovely setting

Too many corridors - couldn't find our way round at all easily.

the surrondings were beautiful breakfast was excellent staff very friendly and efficient

the bed was a small double and the pillows were very uncomfortable

"Found the room and the bed rather small. Tea/coffee in room disappointing bog standard sachets."

A little too big and impersonal for our taste.

"Apart from the above breakfast problems and the minor room service problem we enjoyed our stay at your hotel and would certainly reccommend it. But would also have to point out to any prospective visitors that although cooked breakfast is included in the price it was not of a standard acceptable. Personally I would rather purchase a better quality produce than risk a bad review."

Quiet retreat, close to amenities, quality of accommodation and facilities

The accommodation was faultless, however the cooked full breakfast was not edible, therefore we had to settle for continental breakfast. Bacon & sausage were very poor quality, obviously not cooked fresh as very tough which suggests reheat, black pudding was completely rock hard, another example of reheat. Also tea & coffee facilities in our room where not replenished which resulted in us having to purchase our own from local Morrisons.Furthermore, we did not receive a change of towels on our second day and had to dry them by way of airing them at our bedroom window.

"bed was a small double in a large room that could easily have accommodated a king or two singles. We could hear what was happening in the next door room and in the corridors as if there were only paper between us"

    situation

miles to walk to room and bed was tiny for the size of the room. Also very noisy - we were woken on three occasions by rowdy people

"Major late night function taking place - no problem for us as our room was as far away as it could be but could be bad for many less remote rooms; otherwise superb in every way - pleasing parkland environment, friendly staff, good swimming pool, luxurious ambience, excellent breakfast, smart and comfortable room to the standard expected for this type of hotel. Would be helpful to see a restaurant menu displayed or as part of the in-room info."

    High standard in every respect.

Two easy chairs rather than just one would be appreciated - plenty of space for a second one.

"Nice Hotel good facilities but we should have been informed that a Folk Festival was on and that the place was packed. Getting food at breakfast time was difficult."

All facilities that we used were good

Could not get into restaraunt due to being fully booked, there was a folk festival on at the time and it seemed that this to over anything else.

"This was a good choice for overnight stay as it was clean, well appointed, and the beds were very comfortable. We had read previous reviews saying that there was no dining facility at weekends, so we ate elsewhere, and this was a pity because the dining room was open for dinner Saturday. There was a wedding and another function on, so the common parts were busy and noisy, but staff were friendly and helpful and directed us to a quieter area. Although our room was a long walk away from the main area, the benefit of being in a quiet part outweighed the inconvenience of the distance. This is a corporate or conference hotel, but great for overnight or short stays."

It was clean and very comfortable

"we had a really nice time and would be happy to visit again the above problems did not spoil our stay but could do with fixing. The only other problem was getting served at the bar on saturday night - I know there was a wedding on but it still should not take 15 minutes to get a drink!"

    generous,clean and comfortable

    1. poor picture on the tv 2. door lock/handle loose 3. floor tiles in bathroom loose - room 142

The shower leaked all night, the radiator hiss all night, had to set our own table at breakfast as staff were too busy, food came out in stages - was worse experience in a hotel ever.

"Highly recommend a stay at this hotel and with the view & grounds makes an ideal location for a wedding reception/photographs. Staff very helpful, extra towels were provided very quickly and also helped with travel directions."

Initially booked hotel as we thought it was close to Nottingham City Centre however, it was a fortunate mistake as the Hotel was one of the best we have stayed in in the UK. Quality of Rm at an inexpensive tarrif. Very good breakfast selection.
