" very good will certainly visit again"

hotel and grounds stunning, spa excellent, food good but expensive

out building containing suites was not in keeping with style of rest of hotel, shower was blocked, room clean and tidy, but not traditional as with rest of hotel rooms

"The hotel room we stayed in looked in need of a refurbishment. Didnt like bedspread with blanket. "

went for a drink before dinner, no cold wine had to ask for ice. Glasses were not clean and unpolished. Used plates not cleared off tables. Breakfast again glasses were not clean and the buffet was not refreshed.

"A lovely, but rather tired hotel, which needs rennovation in luxury suite wing tired decor, paint peeling, sofa shabby, no shower instructions and shower doors not working well etc. Great location for event we were visiting. Great potential to return to top quality hotel."

Majority of the staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. Lovely setting and grounds. Suite rooms have good facilities and the bathrooms are very big and well equiped. Excellent breakfasts.

One rather officious unwelcoming female member of staff who ignored customers when they are clearly waiting for service. Her manner was over formal, patronising and unhelpful to customers overall. The food in the restaurant did not meet our expectations.

decor a bit tired, daytime reception staff not the friendliest person

Helpful staff, made to feel welcome, nice rooms

Bed was two mattresses pushed together so kept falling down the gap!

"A charming hotel in a pleasant setting with equally charming staff. We will definitely make a return visit. "

We were welcomed by a really charming receptionist, the suite of rooms was a delightful surprise and perfect for my elderly mother. We shall definitely be making a return visit as we have relatives who live locally.

Only one tiny point - we ordered ham sandwiches in the evening without mustard and the accompanying salad was smothered in mustard making it inedible. If they have to use mustard why not put it on the side as not everyone likes dressings.

"The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, both before and during the booking. The hotel is very attractive and rustic, although the inside of the hotel, in small part, needed some updating. However, overall the experience was great. The breakfast was varied and enjoyable, the spa facilities were excellent."

The suite had separate living and sleeping rooms, bathroom was big and spacious, spa facilities brilliant, lovely looking venue.

Heavily chlorinated water in the pool!

"Excellent value for money at discounted rate would not have rated it as good value at full tariff and a treat to stay somewhere that wasn't the same old travellers hotel."

    Size of room

Not as clean as it could have been and starting to show signs of wesr and tear. Disappointed with the standard of breakfast for a 4* hotel

Well equipped, clean, extremely spacious, Great value in terms of space for your money.

The decor. Doesn't feel like you are staying in a country hotel at all.

"I enjoyed the general feel of the hotel. It was welcoming and relaxing. The evening meal was excellent, but breakfast was a little greasy. The location was perfect for my business visit to Derby."

Beautiful buildings. Comfortable accommodation. Lovely restaurant.

It was a little difficult to find someone when I wanted to book out.

"It was easy to book on line though I had to ring the hotel to clarify how to book accommodation for a grandmother, mother and grandaughter. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We chose the hotel because it had a pool. The times for use with a child were limited, this did not inconvenience us but might for some guests. We had a very pleasant stay."

Very clean, comfortable and attractive. Good facilities.

the entrance doors looked abit like a prison from the outside.

"I was incensed to book into a place which advertises itself as a spa hotel and find that the spa facilities closed at 7pm on a weekday. The hotel was perfectly acceptable as far as it went, but I only went for the prospect of a long leisurely swim at the end of a hard day's work. I got 19 minutes. I shall never stay again. I was even less impressed to find that the info in the room implied that the pool was open until 8.30 - and even that is too early in a place like this."

    Decent room; pleasant staff

Bland, boring business hotel experience. Mediocre food, poor choice of wine. Not good enough at these prices.

"Lovely Hotel, nice grounds, had a separate suite within courtyard. Booked just 3 hours earlier, got a great price. Room service was quick/helpful and food was fine. Rooms were fine, twin beds instead of double was not ideal. There were some cob-webs in the bedroom at head height, not just ceiling. skirting board never cleaned?? BUT, have to say, didnt put me off, enjoyed my stay and it was great value - booked at Sunday lunchtime for that evening - got a great Price!!!!"

Nice suite, very good value last min. booking deal, staff very good

Overall clean but some areas not as clean as should have been. Not a double bed - just 2 twins put together - therefore couldn't sleep as well as should have been
