    staff good, nicley presented

"Pleasant, would hope that the lighting is sorted if i were to stay again."

    Clean bedding, pleasant reception staff.

most of the lights in the room were without bulbs, window ledges dirty, beds not made, worrying cracks in the ceiling. Waited an age for breakfast the first day causing us to miss our first lecture at the university.

"It was adequate. However as the hotel is only a 2 star maybe I am expressing an injustice. I certainly will try to avoid 2 star in the future."

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent and the public lounge was comfortable and homely.

Decor in room and corridor was in need of refreshing and updating

"Okay but not fantastic - we woke up in the morning to the sounds of 80's disco music being played loudly by the kitchen staff and by trains running very close to the hotel."

    Spacious room

Food in restaurant was okay but not fantastic and the dining room lacked atmosphere. The hotel generally needed some money spending on it to bring it up to scratch - I was relieved that I got a bargain on the internet I would not have been happy to pay the full room rate for the night

"Pleasant stay and satisfied as value for money."

Good welcome from reception and information given. Restaurant meals fair value and quality

State of repair to room left a little to be desired. Redecoration is required

"At £59 for family room including full enlish b/fast this was a bargain. Child went to bed so could relax in cosy lounge area with fire and tv. Would definitely stay again. Close to dan Maskell tennis Centre at Uni."

Big family room, very nice lounge/bar area with fire. Well signposted and easy to find. Good breakfast, served promptly.

Would have preferred duvets on beds instead of blankets

Well prepared food at value for money. Comfortable leather furniture in bar/lounge.

Noise transfer from corridors to rooms.

"Disappointing. Run down atmosphere, carpets tacky, grounds scruffy, general air of decay."

Hot water. Passable breakfast. TV. Staff quick to offer alternative room when first was too noisy because of extractor fan outside window. Clean beds. Fairly quiet.

Only one plug for both sink and bath. No socket for clock radio or table lamp so not sure why they were provided. Poor state of decoration. No blind or curtain in bathroom. Sluggish hairdryer. Wrongly billed for beer at 2.30a.m.

    "Enjoyed"

Staff very helpful, hotel very clean inside, a bit sad for itself outside

,Bath tap dripping, kime scale in bath at drip point, TV only worked one channel, hairdryer not working, kettle nice size, but difficult to use, only one easy chair in a double room, only one pack of biscuits again in a double room

Small room, could do with some internal work to make room easier to move around the room. As you entered the room there was a shelf on the right hand side, that made passing dificult.

Room was dirty. Dust and cobwebs. Toilet seat loose and cracked. Cooling fan did not work. No evidence of PAT testing on all portable appliances. Swimming pool a disgrace

    It is quirky

    Some redecoration needed

The location being close to my clients office

The poor condition of the room. No hanging facilities in the room. The sink was blocked. The curtains did not fully cover the window. The room was cold and also you could hear the noise from the bar downstairs. The general condition of the room was in a generally poor state of repair.

The condition of the bedroom and the soil pipe from next door's room kept me awake all night

    Friendly Staff

The hotel is in need of refurbishing and the heating needs caps on radiators so that you can ajust your room temperature

"Would like to have known about bath or shower in room at time of booking. Location of hotel is excellent - very easy to get to and away from. Quiet location with friendly atmosphere."

Reasonable sized family room and close to our destination on the following day. Breakfast excellent. Staff equally good.

No bath in bathroom. Difficult to operate shower and keep floor dry. Mould on ceiling in bathroom and missing wall light shade and 1 broken shade in dangerous location. Uncomfortable double bed - past sell buy date. Limited choice available from food stock in restuarant for evening meal.

"The staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel was poorly managed. The rooms we had had seen better days and on arrival the eletricity failed. The TV in one of the rooms we booked didn't work. Neither did the shower in the bathroom. The hairdryer in the double didn't work and there were no blankets on the bed when we arrived - just a sheet and a bedcover. To top it all they had no eggs for breakfast."

Very little. It was quite shabby and down at heel.

Everything. Nothing worked. TV, shower, hair dryer ere all faulty.

"Generally ok, Public areas have been modernised. Bathrooms rather worn. Hotel was fine for a short stay. Hopefully the modernisation will continue thoughout."

Public rooms have been revamped and are fine. Comfortable lounge bar.

One bedroom too hot and windows were jammed shut. Water cold in the evening. One TV didn't work. Bedrooms a bit dated.

    clean, large rooms

breakfast service not very good, had to go to reception to find someone to get us some toast that was meant to come with breakfast. check in porter told us the wrong time we had to check out, and in the morning the receptionist came and knocked on door and told us we were late leaving.

"One of the best things about this hotel is its location! As soon as you come off the dual carriage way it is literally the first thing you see! I would definately recommend this hotel, its reasonably priced and is suitable for an overnights stay."

It was a pretty hotel, little dated interior but that was the stlye of the hotel. The room was nothing spectacular but it served its purpose.

There was nothing i can say i really disliked, but the breakfast waitress was a bit unfriendly and rude.
