"Excellent value for money and will be booking again in the future."

Really enjoyed being in an historic building with much character. Good breakfasts - comfortable spacious room on the top floor - interesting lift listed I believe

"Good value for money, spacious, clean and friendly - just let down by the room decoration."

    Clean and very friendly staff

'Tatty' decoration; in need of a lick of paint and fixing curtains fixture coming off the wall

"we stayed here because we had an early ferry the next day to Isle of Man, and we will definitely stay there again. The hotel is very central and there was room for our car also. a late night bar was available and room service. Altogether a very enjoyable stay."

beautiful chandeliers in a very impressive dining room which was very clean and the food was ample and very varied selection. staff very friendly & helpful. The hotel was very well kept and we enjoyed the way the old building had been restored, it was very spacious and we would recomend it to anyone. Everything which you would require was there for you.

I would hsve preferred an individual tea pot at breakfast as I like my tea strong and hot.

Location of hotel and very good deal on room

Toilet seat broken in en suite, TV had to be retuned a couple of times to get all channels

    "Very good."

Quiet room despite overlooking the main road. Warm/comfortable. New TV. Excellent breakfast.

Would have liked sealed cups for drinking in room. Shower was a little difficult to set.

"It was ok, I was disappointed with the cleanliness as it is important to me."

The hotel was reasonably priced. Good location. Comfotable bedroom.

The room was not clean. There were hairs in the bath. The toilet seat was cracked and uncomfortable to sit on. There was a lot of noise from the stairs during the night. The reception staff did not smile or make us feel at all welcome.

    "decent"

excellent location staff very friendly and helpful

General cleanliness of room leaves much to be desidered. Not even the bed was properly made the covers were just about straightened.

"Staying one night in Morecambe was disappointing for us as the whole reason for trip was to be in Lancaster City Centre. Hotel receptionist was helpful though and we were able to reimburse taxi fares between Lancaster and Morecambe."

Location of hotel and friendliness of staff. Rooms were spacious and well-maintained.

Internet-booking system had over-booked available rooms so when we arrived at hotel were told we would have to stay one night in Morecambe as no other hotels had rooms available in Lancaster.

"it was a couple of days break for us now that our children have grown up, and it was a very good feeling that we are able to get out and about to enjoy our lives for once, instead of being tied to the house."

we have stayed in a number of hotels over the past couple of years, and we found this one the best so far.

    we found no bad points

"overall our stay was in your hotel was good."

staff are very pleasant & helpfull, equipment in the room, dinning room was very nice.

parts of the room were dated & needed updating, the lift was old & hard to use & it was small for the size of the hotel.

"Although the staff were friendly and helpful and the price was the cheapest for the hotels in Lancaster, so basically you get what you pay for."

Near to the town centre and the railway station. Plenty to eat at breakfast.

In spite of double glazing you could still hear the traffic in the street below. The only light in the bedroom was above the bed and did not give enough light to the bedroom. The bed was too short for me.

"Very disappointed. It is a long time since I stayed in such a bad hotel. Never again!"

The building itself is beautiful and very central to the town.

Where do I start!!! The whole of the interior needs refurbishing as it is looking very shabby and dirty. The rooms and bathrooms are old and outdated. The lift is disgraceful! It needs to be brought back to it's original glory as now it is extremely sad.

    "Awful. Downright awful."

It was the cheapest place in Lancaster. £35 online

Where do I start?! First of all, the wallpaper was coming off the wall, displayng the damp; the room wasn't clean; litter was left over from the previous customer or, I expect, the few before that; of the appliances that came with the room alarm clock, kettle, tv, hairdryer, iron etc only the kettle worked; in said kettle were many brown/black bits that looked like teabag innards; their informative literature was very out of date, to the point of being useless such as how to access their very intermittent wi-fi; the sole person attending reception had a disability which meant he was unable to talk down the phone useless for somebody whose primary method of contact is the phone; the toilet smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in years although it looked visually like it had; the mug and glass provided were chipped and stained; the towels were like large brillo-pads, uncomfortable to touch and thoroughly unabsorbent; the window was unable to close; none of the light fittings worked, I had to fumble around in the dark for about 10 minutes before I was able to turn on a bedside lamp; the sole usable mains sockets was at a place useless to anybody the other side of the door to the desk, about 1.5m away; there were more mains sockets around the room in places that were actually useful such as near the bed and desk but they used a non-standard socket to stop customers using it; whenever you walked, the floorboards made an elephantidesque noise; the desk had graffiti on it and wobbled; the wardrobe missed a handle; the ironing board cover had what looked like curry stains on it.......... The list goes on.

staff were excellent in every way possible

hotel was very dated decoration was very poor and inital room allocated to us was extrememly dark and dingy. We were given a better room but the decoration was still poor

"Very disappointing far too expensive what we got."

Central location to Lancaster city centre and castle.

Room was dark, very damp and smelly, bed was unbelievable uncomfortable, bath had hairs in, cups not clean. Hotel bar only sold 1 draft larger which was supposed to Kronenburg, but was undrinkable, bottle beers were warm. Mixers were not on draft and flat.

"It was quite worth the money."

I stayed at a single room. Though the bedroom was small, the bathroom was spacious, and as a whole, it was nicely proportioned. I could feel at ease at the beautiful restaurant, too.

The light above the bed did not come on, and so the room was rather dark.

"The hotel was conveniently placed for what we required. We wouldn't necessarily stay there again. Unfortunately it is an old hotel and I doubt whether it would warrant spending much on it."

Breakfast was good and well served

Initial room had to be refused as it had not been cleaned. Room occupied had a leaking toilet.

    Very friendly staff.

Bathroom looked a bit 'tired' and in need of upgrade. Tiling had grout all over it and the shower was not easily controlled either being too hot or too cold

Staff were friendly. Breakfast was in a very nice elegant room and the food was good. There was a good choice and some things were ordered and cooked especially to your request.

The room was tired, old and too hot and teribly noisy. You could not have the window open as the traffic noise was so great that sleep was impossible. With the window shut the room was so hot that you couldn't sleep. Very little sleep all night took the enjoyment out of the stay and ruined the 'romance' of a night away from children and responsibilities.

    Breakfast

The carpet in my room didn't seem vacuumed. The hotel was old and did not live up to its on-line photos or its 3 star status.

    breakfast was good

very dirty and lacks cleanliness, light bulbs and system half working, towels not changed without our consent, elevator unfriendly and requires closing two doors with both hands

Very central to all ameneties. Excellent breakfast included, television picture very good with some sky channels, extra tea, sugar etc in room brought up immediately upon asking. Ironing board, iron and hairdryer very useful.

Saucer and spoon unwashed on tea tray, but a very small complaint.
