    " Disappointing."

Clean, well heated accommodation in a quiet loaction. Easy parking.

We were expecting a large family room with english breakfast and free wireless connection. The room was cramped with two double beds resulting in our thirteen and ten year old boys sharing a bed. The english breakfast was not provided as booked, due to the Christmas period we were told, instead a continental breakfast left in the kitchen for us to serve ourselves. The wireless connection was not working despite us reporting this. Staff unfriendly.

"friendly staff, adequate accomodation, a short but pleasant stay"

Friendly welcome, no fuss, everything explained. We liked the shared kitchen, most convenient. The creaking floorboards from upstairs did not bother us,it added to the character of the place which was quaint but cosy.

As others have said, difficult to find, the notices outside were inadequate.

    "Most enjoyable !"

Extra facilities as there was a shared kitchen. They made good accomodation for our small dog at no extra charge. The hotel was clean and also very interesting achitecturally. Easy parking.

Slightly difficult to find as the hotel is listed and therefore not allowed to put up large signs.

Staff very polite and friendly. Food very nice. Overall very nice .

Small point only: Cord of hairdryer too short. Putting Sign up at street level. Missing street number Passed the place twice without noticing it at 9 PM.

"Comfortable but the owners were a little cool. "

Nice set up, reasonable location, nice and quiet

It says pet friendly but then my dog was accepted through almost gritted teeth.

"We were not altogether happy with the supplies for breakfast arranged in the kitchen, e.g. ran out of milk, bread and eggs, but realized the Christmas period would hinder usual routine."

    Attractive and comfortable accommodation.

    "Enjoyed it very much."

The courtyard was very lovely, and the room beautiful. The kitchen area was very useful.

The bedroom was very warm, so I would have reservations about stopping there during the summer months. Also we were using sat nav to find the courtyard but still had trouble, so a clearer / bigger sign would have very useful.

"Wonderful stay wish we could have stayed longer!"

Very clean room, a shared kitchen with hot drinks facility and snacks. Very helpful staff. Beautiful relaxed atmosphere. Very helpful staff

Signs outside was difficult to spot and no sign in courtyard letting you know where reception was...although almost as soon as you arrive a member of staff appeared

Comfort of rooms and kitchen facilities.Much preferred having a chalet style accomodation than just another hotel room.

Just slightly disappointed with the cooked breakfast could have been hotter bearing in mind the number of guests.

    The room, facilities

The noise due to excessive creaking floorboards from the room above.

"The main problem with this hotel was the size of the room. It was a classed as a large family room but there were no comforable chairs one chair only, no table, no space to put any bags. There were two double beds but no room to move around. There was a tiny wardrobe. It would have been very difficult for a family of four to stay in this room for any more than one night. On arriving at the hotel, the heating was faulty not working and there was no explanation as to why this was and whether/when it would be rectified. Our stay was at the end of October and the temperature outside was 3 degrees. The description says a fluffy robe is provided. This is correct as there was only one fluffy robe between four people. Also, please don't be early for breakfast! We were five minutes early and it wasn't appreciated."

Decor nice and the room clean.

The room was not big enough for four people.

The welcoming feel you got on arrival. The place has great areas available to use un like a normal hotel. Lovely setting.

People in room above Freisian Suite on first night of stay very noisy owing to floorboards being creeky.Resulting in very little sleep

"The experience was much like a holiday camp, which is not the type of place we had expected, your brochure suggested that is was for couples, who wanted a quiet break, not a concert room full of coach parties playing games."

    The swimming pool

The buffet type dining room was not what we expected. Being on a turkey and tinsle break, we expected turkey to be a choice on the menu, alas it was not We were also totally overwhelmed by coach parties, approx five, seemed to be staying, that was not expected either.

"Beautiful and comfortable accommodation. However, check out is a VERY strict and non negotiable 10am, with not even a 30 minute concession. Whilst I accept rooms have to be prepared prior to the next arrival, there were sufficient people checking out early to have allowed some small leeway. For those who like a lazy Sunday, like myself, this doesn't allow for a leisurely experience."

The courtyard was so quaint in the middle of a very busy built up area - a very pleasant surprise when the electronic gates opened - it felt like being in the countryside - beautiful.

There was nothing to dislike - it was beautiful!

Everything. The en suite and provision of kitchen and dining facilities were excellent.

"The hotel is perfect for business users, dont confuse this with a Holiday Inn or Travel Lodge, you are given a cottage to stay in with all the facilities that you will ever need. Shepshed as plenty of places to drink and eat, and all the staff are vey polite."

    Very nice rooms and facilities.

    Close to client

Strange breakfast arrangement. Having to go and beg for milk.

The accommodation was very clean & the whole business was run very well. Great Full English Breakfast. The shared tea/coffee area was pleasent with everything you needed. Well worth the money & very Convenient just of the M1.

Some water pipes were boxed next to the bed in the corner of the room, very noisey at times. Sink in bathroom, very small with shelf in the way when you either shaved or cleaned your teeth. Hard to adjust shower. But I must say this is me being fussy dont let it put you off

"The website pretty much said everything we needed to know about the accommodation. The actual bed size would have been the only thing I would have included - i.e. double, king size, queen size etc. Most hotels don't tell you. I made the assumption that because we'd booked a higher rate room that we would get a bigger bed! hubby is 6'4 and I'm not small, so we like the space Oops! The chap that met us on our late arrival however was most helpful and we could have moved. The dining room was charming and reminded me of bygone times when one had chiming clocks and took tea etc. Really lovely. The breakfast was yummy and just enough. In the accommodation I loved the fact that we had a fresh milk and not that UHT individual portion stuff. Also fresh fruit and bread for toast if we'd wanted it. There was also a well maintained lawn/garden just off the kitchen to sit out and have a sundowner or morning coffee etc."

The home from home experience of having a fully functional kitchen if we wanted it and breakfast being provided/cooked so that we didn't have to bother shopping for it or preparing it. The room itself was lovely, very clean and in good decorative order.

Being upstairs with small windows it was quite warm.

"Definitely the place to stay if you're visiting Donington Park or Alton Towers in a group - facilities excellent as you can share the cottage with friends. Not too sure I'd book if travelling as a couple. Breakfast 10/10 Staff 10/10 Grounds 10/10 but felt a little ill at ease with the school headmistress approach of senior member of staff. Would I stay there again - most definitely now I know the rules."

Excellent if you're travelling with a group of friends as youcan share cottages - a bit too personal if you're on your own and you don't want to comunicate with other guests

"As my husband is slightly disabled, it was very good to be able to park and walk straight into our room. Although there was another room in the cottage, it was unoccupied so we had the full use of the kitchen etc. The breakfast was served in the main house which was stunning and the food was very good. We would certainly book the Grange again if we were in the area and would recommend it to anyone."

The room and whole place had a lovely old atmosphere and it was wonderful that the period features were kept.

It was superbly appointed and absolutely spotless. Attention to detail was superb

There was nothing I disliked. It is one of the best places I have ever stayed.
