good breakfast very well located

"Good for a weekend but wouldn't recommend if you are looking to chill out, relax and get much sleep! "

Nice modern hotel with good location for town, friendly staff and very nice room.

Very noisy, noise from Dome next door and what seemed to be smoking area from both venues right outside our hotel window! Double glazing in rooms not very good at sound proofing!

Our first room the safe and coffee machine did not work . The room is next to a night club so we had a very poor nights sleep.The hotel is expensive and I feel a camp bed for the third prson in a room is very poor especially when we had booked a suite

"We stayed at the Hotel LeMonde for our tenth wedding anniversary. We were lucky enough to stay in the Cairo Suite - and we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the suite itself. The hotel staff arranged for beautiful bouquet of flowers to be placed in the room and even sent us an anniversary card! The room service was impeccable - nothing was too much trouble! The restaurants and clubs were infact my favourite places to eat and drink in the whole city. I would go back tommorrow if I had the chance!"

The hotel was the most wonderful part of our holiday - it was so beautiful, luxurious and welcoming. The atmosphere was just perfect. The staff couldn't do enough to please us and we enjoyed every second of our stay.

"room noisy most of the night until approx 04:00a.m.. Reported the coffee maker broken on first morning, still not repaired or replaced 3 days later. Glasses in room not replaced if used for a drink, by the end of the stay had to use coffee cup for drinking. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Whole concept of LeMonde flawed it is a night club first and foremost and that should be remembered when booking. A very, very busy place the bars and restaurants are vitually full from opening to closing and it is very difficult to get a table. Very much a young persons place and I don't consider myself old at all."

Style and quality of the room and surroundings

Le Monde is basically a nightclub with a few room attached. There is nowhere private for the guests of the hotel to escape the exceptionally large number of people visiting the restaurant and night club. You were not given any kind of priority for booking a table for meals from approximately 13:00 through to 04:00 the place was extremely busy. you were then just another member of the public if you wanted a drink or a meal.

"Le Monde was a fantastic hotel with great decor and excellent service with a personal touch. It's ideally located on George Street and has access to cool bars. We got a great deal, but wouldn't want to pay much more than what we paid. However, would definitely stay here again."

Location, service, facilities...the bathroom in particular was fantastic with a built-in TV above the bath. Loved the fact they put chocolates on your pillows and had a full ironing board.

The door handle was a bit dodgy, the mini fridge was hard to open and the lifts had a very dark interior. Could have done with more information leaflets. If somebody was staying from abroad, they may want more information freely available such as map or guide to edinburgh rather than have to ask for it.

my wife and i enjoyed everything about our short stay at le monde..we have been singing its praises since we left.

the only grumble we had was the parking outside hotel is robbery.parking attendants are very keen to slap a ticket on to any car...

Too many gadgets

"The hotel in general was excellent. The bars and restaurants are fabulous. Would definitely come back to try out some of the other themed rooms. A novel way to spend a short break."

"Bars and restaurants are very lively and noisy- great fun but a little wearing at my age! The waiting staff were superb and looked after us extremely well. I would certainly go back to Edinburgh and would definitely stay at Le Monde but might eat somewhere quieter. Overall an excellent experience."

Fantastic concept beautifully executed

"our stay was slightly wasted as on the first night we went to go into our room around 10.30pm, the entry system jammed and we did not get back intoour room until 3am. we were put up in another room but we had none of our personel belonging i.e. night cloths etc."

Themed rooms

Few things were broken - safe not working, cupboard door to safe broken, no face tissues in box, curtain rail broken.

"The hotel is well appointed and offers a degree of luxury. However,with relatively few rooms each with an individual twist offered an experience that took the stay out of the usual chain to make it feel the more special. It is well situated to explore Edinburgh and take in the evening delights of the New Town without strain."

The room was well appointed and service discrete but helpful.

TV in the shower which was a bonus, didn't work. That aside was excellent.

"The staff were as ever excellent. They helped me make reservations, organise connections for travel aswell as post back to me some medication that I had left in my room. This was particularly good as it was all wrapped carefully. Excellent - well done. On the areas for improvement side, the plug in the London room's bath did not work and the remote batteries in the bathroom were dead. Also the 24hr pass for the internet did not work and I had to call reception 3 times for new codes. This did not detract from the stay however as the staff were great. Also the breakfast and service was excellent as ever. Thanks"

"this is a excellent modern hotel central in edinburgh for shopping bars attractions a bit expensive but you only get what you pay for .The stay would have been 10 out of 10 but for a few things in the room that did not work overall i would stay here again."
