"Loved the ambience, but the "Cell Style" rooms did not do it for me."

I thought that this hotel was absolutely fine, receptionist exceptional. Hall, Bar. Lobby and facilities impressive.

Big Downside the rooms are just far too small for one let alone two! In terms of facilities styling and decor they are excellent. But you just can't swing a cat! The Lighting control panel is awkward to navigate, particularly when initially entering the room. Noise and vibrations from the corridors. I would only stay here again if there was none of my usual hotels available.

Quiet room, comfy bed, enough ventilation without resorting to the air con

No windows. No room for 2 people trying to get changed as nowhere to put clothes etc and hardly any floor space though I think it would be adequate for one person

"Only in the hotel for a limited amount of time, but I would definitely stay again or recommend to friends."

Friendly Staff Great Location Good value for money Good atmosphere / setting

    Room was smaller than expected

"Good for overnight but not for longer as very small - this was expected though"

Very clean and comfortable - shower room excellent

Air con was not cool enough. Tried to turn it to lower temp but just kept flashing and jumped back up. Needed more than one hanger for clothes as there is no where else to put them

"We stayed as my daughter was competing in the Miss Universe GB competition, I doubt I'd book this type of room again for another pageant due to the lack of space to hang all of her stuff - only two hangers are present and attached to the wall - no hooks other than the coat hook on the back of the door were available - although for an overnight stay for instance to go on a shopping trip the room would be adequate."

We found the hotel nice and clean, staff were very helpful and it is a short walk from shopping areas and the ICC.

Although we understand these are classed as 'city rooms' and space is limited - we thought that there could be improvements such as a hairdryer hook on the wall next to the desk area to save cluttering the small area. We also thought that a face and bath towel per person should be provided not only bath towels luckly we brought our own. The small desk although atheistically nice wasn't practical due to the fact that it curved toward the back and front, this meant stuff rolled or fell easily from the front and it wasted space at the back. I also thought that the actual room dimensions should be added to the website as the virtual tour is very misleading - both me,a friend in another room plus our daughters expected a slightly larger area. Lighting although seemingly plentiful is very poor wattage even with the dimmer etc turned on full. Although I did not book breakfast I could not understand why it is available in a bistro ajoining the hotel for £4.95 all you can eat - when the hotel charge offers breakfast at £7.95. The shower is definitely not a power shower although there is plenty of hot water. Probably because the rooms are crammed in you can hear 'everything' that goes on... even several doors away.

"I have never been clostrophibic in my life until now. Considering i could have booked a "room" at other city hotels instead of a box for only a few pounds more I feel this was poor value for money. I will not be returning"

Trendy feel, modern, well lcoated, friendly staff

outrageously small room !! and horrible air conditioning which was fragrenced with an overpowering scent. No hairdryer

    "Good for what we wanted."

Excellent all round service and cleanliness. Great position for all the amenities.

Having no window was very claustrophobic. TV did not subsitute and was very in-your-face size-wise. Found shower door embarrassingly near toilet being glazed.

close to city centre and rail station clean, comfortable and good value for money good sized wet room

Room a bit small and insuffient storage space no window either.

"It was o.k. Chose the hotel on location and price. Wasn't disappointed by either and the concert was great!"

Very attentive staff. The room, although "extremely" compact, met all the requirements for an over night stay. The bed was very comfy, slept like a log! Very convenient for the Symphony Hall.

Adjusting to the "compactness" of the room took a little getting used to, but, apart from that everything was fine.

"Hotel was clean and tidy with friendly staff. enjoyed the visit but double rooms I would say are simply not big enough to accomodate two people. Would use only for a single person visit. On the whole was very pleased."

Check was very fast and efficient. Staff friendly and helpful. Bed comfortable. free interent.

I had a double room for myself, had I however been staying with another adult; I feel that the room would not have been sufficient. One small suitcase alreay obscructed the exit to and from the room. two small suitcases would have been a fire hazard.

"I take the point of being environmentally friendly with the heating system, however, having to huddle in bed is not comfortable and would put me off booking again in winter months."

Very clean and modern, lovely reception and friendly staff, conveniently situated for city centre.

The room took a long time to warm up, took me a while to get used to being so close to the TV! Small room, also I hadn't realised when booking that there is no window - though this wasn't a problem for one evening.

"Perfect if you're just after somewhere cheap to say the night. All the basics were done well."

Cheap. Nicely decorated and well-maintained. Free wireless. Good shower and facilities except chair - see below. Good lights and temperature control.

Chair very uncomfortable. Restuarant had very unnappealing menu. Everything involved bread: sandwhiches, burgers, pizza. Nothing fresh. It also played banging house music, which is what stopped me going in there. It wasn't relaxing in the slightlest. A minor point: hotel did not have my room booking when I arrived at the hotel, which was about 40 minutes after I booked by phone. This was nothing serious, but required a phone call from me and from the hotel receptionist.

"We were going to a concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall so this hotel was just the ticket, being so close, so inexpensive and not needing much luggage/wardrobe space. The shower in the wetroom was luxurious. Could have stayed in there for ages!!"

Very clean room, clever interior design to make the most of the limited available space. Great, friendly service at reception. Good price for such a central location.

Room was very small with no window but cabin design did much to compensate. Ok for one night but if We'd stayed much longer we may have ended up with cabin fever!

  • 50% Individual on Business

"I can believe that some folks would find this tiny 'cabin-like' space appealling, but it is remiss of you not to make the fact that there is no window explicit. A 42" plasma screen showing an outside view is hardly the same."

    Excellent shower

Your description of this hotel did not make explicit that the room is very small & has no window. I am not generally claustrophobic, but this room took me to the brink. It is a very particular thing to be in a tiny room with no window, and potential guests should be made aware of this. Also, the bathroom is a wet room, in effect, so after a shower the floor around the basin & toilet are wet, so shaving etc become very soggy processes.

"Room was extremely small, nowhere to put your clothes other than a hanger on the wall. The lack of window really was a big negative and made me realise how claustrophobic I must be. I couldn't sleep, and couldn't wait to get out. Sorry because the staff were very good and facilities were good."

Nice modern hotel, vending machines at intervals on corridors, good shower, very quiet. Good central location.

No window, so was very claustrophobic. I don't think this was mentioned on the website and it should be, because some people are claustrophobic and would not be able to stand it.

"our overal stay was quite good the only things we were a bit disapointed about was the size of the room for 2 adults staying in there it just wasn't enough room to move about plus having luggage it made it even more of a problem. also we were very disappointed with the breakfast to pay £5.95 for a english breakfast to find that you only end up getting bacon and susage was a bit of a shock we were expecting eggs and other things you usually get with an english breakfast"

    the big televison

the size of the room was not big enough for 2 people to get around

"V pleasant and cheap stay for the city centre"

nice modern apartment, although pretty small. Lovely big plasma TV, and nice shower room

We couldn't get the sound on the TV to work properly until girl from reception came up to sort it out - quick repsonse though!

    Clean, Well equipped Centrally located.

Felt it needed curtains in the lounge as it doubles as a bed room. My daughter found it to light in the morning.

"Stayed for four nights and it was too much. Love the concept for a one night stay at the price but it becomes annoying after a couple of days. My wife was with me for a couple of nights and I think we would have fallen out if it were any longer, there is not the room for two people to get ready at the same time."

    Clean, modern

    Size and lack of window,

"The website gave me all the information that I needed before I made my decison to book. The rooms are advertised as small and they are, but for an overnight stay, even two nights, they are more than adequate and excellent value. Staff very friendly and helpful with fast, efficient check-in. In fact the service received was up to American standards."

The bathroom was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. I have stayed in more expensive hotels that did not have this standard of fittings, or indeed cleanliness The bed was very comfortable.

    Nothing

"In a hotel room I looke for a comfortable bed, good shower and cleanliness - this room provided the highest quality in all three areas. I do think though that it would be too small a space for an extended hotel stay - one or two days is OK though."

Although compact, the space was used very creatively.

The TV channels could not be set to proper widescreen reception.

  • 80% Individual Visitor

Good location, easy check in process and comfy bed

The television was far to big and caused eye ache when being watched. Also I could not seem to turn it off totally, only put it on Standby. Not only does this waste energy, it also made a noise which annoyed me

  • 70% Young couple

from Northampton UK, stayed on November 28, 2007

    Modern, clean, very functional.

Very claustrophobic, lack of privacy within room, very hot and stuffy air conditioner under bed and you could barely feel the difference on the bed, a couple of buttons were unclear as to what they did.
