"Although the rooms were ok, because the breakfast service was so poor it left a very bad impression of your hotel. The overall price was more than I would normally pay so I expected a better than normal service. i would not recommend this hotel to family and friends. We do not normally complain but the service at breakfast was so poor I actually complained when paying the bill."

    Room was good

Breakfast service was very very poor. Had to wait over an hour for a cooked breakfast. Had to ask the staff to order or breakfast, had to ask the staff for coffee and toast and cutlery. Nobody approached us to apologise or explain the delay.

"food was ok. surrounding and views over the bay were lovely."

Rooms all very clean, hotel gave impression of being a higher class hotel, the receptionist when we booked in was helpful, and the waiter at breakfast treated my wife as a proper lady.

the beds were far too bouncy mattress and bases not matched, if you turned over you nearly fell out of bed. No remote controls worked for any tellies. Breakfast felt very rushed as though we were almost in the way. some of the decor on the upper rooms left a lot to be desired. the shower did not drain properly and shower cubicle was far too small. the morning receptionst was as awkward as could be and gave a bad overall impression of the hotel, it was if we were an inturuption of her day. No help was offered to carry any of the bags, even though it was clear that my wife had difficulties walking. It felt almost like a self catering complex not a good quality hotel.

Good location. Adequate car parking. Pleasant and helpful staff. Food was good. We thought the suite was good value.

The matress was a bit lumpy.

"Very enjoyable. Excellent location and amenities."

Excellent food and restaurant facilities. Very good bar and relaxation facilities.

I would not call these bad points just a little disapointing! Room lacking facilities advertised. No TV, WIFI or internet connection.

"An oasis in the middle of a run-down seaside resort."

The restaurant service was superb at dinner, despite a busy wedding function, the food was of a quality I would have expected in a top class city restaurant.

"very pleasant and for the price would definately recommend "

Staff were very friendly, hotel ameneties were good. the food was very good and service was prompt.tea and coffee facilities were the best we have come across for a long while.

The room was a good size but had an odour, possible reasons could be we appeared to be above the kitchen and some cooking smells were apparent, though not unbearable.

Personal touch from staff and offer of a free room upgrade

A larger TV would be good but maybe thats only a problem because the room was so big!

"We were looking for a good quality B&B hotel for an overnight stay Friday night on route to Scotland via car. Most places were booked up in our price band internet search, probably because started looking only two days beforehand, but the Clarendon had a double room for a mere £50 total, so we booked it online straight away. We expected to be in a back room facing a wall, but had a wonderful sea view - and watched the sunset over Morecambe Bay! Great breakfast too!"

Good facilities, sea view, good value for money. Booking process easy.

"Everything was great with the one minor exception above. The proprietor I think his name was Ian was very courteous and helpful. This was the best hotel experience we had while in England!"

The internet directions to the hotel said to follow the highway signs for "West Gate" to the sea, while the actual highway signs said "West End"

"Staff were friendly when we had contact with them. We used the hotel as a base and only really slept there."

Room was clean if a bit small

shower was just a trickle, we needed to put all lights on in order to read the paper as room was very dark. Road noisy throughout the night.

"Would not return, but feel need to say it is nothing to do with lovely staff. They were fabulous"

Staff fantastic, hotel in a good location near the sea front

Room was poorly furnished; double bed very narrow and noticeably sloped on one side. The mattress itself was very old and no support. We both felt sore in the morning. The furniture was decades old, very dark wood, dirty net curtains, little natural light was able to get through them. The artificial lighting was inadequate, leaving the room in dim light. The decore itself was strange,a dark green/olive curtain was hung over the top of the bed in a hood shape, definitely not a becoming feature. The bathroom had a series of lights, none of which made you feel the room was any brighter, probably because of yellow 40 watt bulbs.

"Apart from the two points above the overall standard of the hotel and staff was very good and we thouroughly enjoyed our stay."

Staff very pleasant and obliging, Hotel is very well managed and the food is of a high standard.

On booking my confimation said Non Smoking twin room, the room they gave us smelled very strongly of smoke, the manager of the Hotel said such requests do not go through to the hotel,as my husband is on oxygen 24 hours a day it didn't really help his breathing? also the Hotel only had 1 disabled parking bay but non disabled people are allowed to park in it and the hotel wasn't prepared to do anything about it when queried with them.
