"excellent mainly due to staff welcome and good food for an exceptional price. "

"Lovely hotel in a quiet location. Modern and friendly feel about it the staff were excellant and actually seemed like they enjoyed their jobs which is missing in a lot of hotels I stay in. Restaurant was very good with a menu to suit all tastes and budgets. Only minor gripes were about my room - it was a bit cold and could not find a heater except in bathroom and basin plug pop up did not work. Visitor than that excellant value and hope to return soon."
Modern clean, quiet and comfortable hotel Good quality restaurant Excellant value
None really - my room was a little cold and could only find a heater in the bathroom

"We had a very good stay, it was a pity we had only booked one night. We will definitely return."
We have stayed at this hotel before and were very impressed with their new extension. The bar area was really relaxing, and food excellent.

"Lovely hotel."
The service and food in the restaurant were not as good as the rest of the facilities. The restaurant was very quiet but the food still took quite a long time to come out.

Very limited TV options. I would expect all the freeview channels as a minimum

Quiet, newly refurbished, good quality food.
Special requests made at time of booking on the internet were not relayed with the booking to the hotel.

"Overall, we were very happy with the hotel, and it will be even better after its opening following complete refurbishmentthis coming weekend."
When I said that I couldn't easily climb the stairs, the reception found us a downstairs room.
The breakfast area was rather dark in the refurbished stablesand the fruit provided could have been better.

"I wouldn't have booked into a hotel where wifi wasn't available in all the rooms."
Lovely new well appointed room
The shower only had COLD water ! And I couldn't access the internet.

"unfortunately the main hotel section was still in the process of an upgrade with a lot of building work being carried out both internally and externally. it would not have stopped us from booking but it would have been nice to have known the extent of this work in advance but looks like it will be very nice in the future."
comfortable, clean, fresh.

"Did not have a copy of yellow pages Food was not really as good as it sounded on the menu Would not want to stay there again until the building works are finished. Would only recommend after works are complete"

"Will be lovely when all the work is completed, however in the meantime this work does cause inconvenience to guests and the staffing levels are at a bare minimum it appears. However, room was very clean and comfortable!"
The room was spacious and very conmfortable.
Renovation work is causing quite a bit of disruption, although I did know before visiting renovation workwas being carried out, the impact was greater than I anticipated. Also the Bar area was freezing!!
from Fareham UK, stayed on February 13, 2008
"The staff were largely dismissive and certainly did not readily offer help. The bar was poorly staffed and very expensive. However, if all you want is a clean bathroon and a decent bed in a quiet hotel this is a nice place."
The room was very clean and obviously new.
The hotel is a lovely old building and disappointingly the room was a souless white refurb - no personality. Low, plasterboard ceiling was oppressive.

"Restaurant staff polite but inexperienced."
Good size room
small window for natural light, lack of fresh air, vent didn't appear to be working on bathroom
from London UK, stayed on July 25, 2007
"The bar was rarely staffed often had to wait for service The restaurant service was incredibly slow we booked for 7:15 and got our first course at 8:30 bread was stale and sent back - all unfortunate as the rest of the food was good Hotel decor is a bit patchy - awaiting refurbishment so should improve"
Clean, pleasant spacious rooms. Pleasant decor
One room was very warm
from Oxford UK, stayed on June 14, 2007
Spacious, well-appointed, very clean, smart room.
TV remote didn't work. Shower a nightmare to operate -- the screen makes it impossible to turn on and test the temperature before standing under the shower head, resulting in one scalding and one freezing. The exterior of the hotel is very dilapidated, there was rubbish all around the main entrance and a dead bird near the reception door.
from Hull UK, stayed on May 13, 2007
"Excellent & friendly staff. Only negative about hotel was very shabby and dated restaraunt, food very good."
Rooms were excellent

The rooms have been built to a modern design and are very good quality. The car park feels secure.
Some of the fixtures where broken and didnt work correctly, and the costs is expensive for the quality of the stay.

"Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Incredible value for money, great staff, excellent service and a beautiful hotel and grounds. What more could you ask for!"
The staff were very friendly, approachable and looked as though they enjoyed their work. The hotel is stunning in itself, especially the new bar area. The full length windows make a gorgeous setting for relaxing with a nice drink beside. The meal we had was one of, if not the, best we have ever had, it really was beautiful and at an incredibly good price too! The full English breakfast included in the price was also to a very high standard and was delicious. It was a comfortable, elegant and relaxing experience and we will certainly be visiting again. We both went home feeling very happy and relaxed.
We couldn't find a single bad point, only that we couldn't stay for longer!
