"Excellent ,very good value for money and we would certainly stay at this hotel again if we are ever in the area."

Comfortable, clean accommodation;friendly, efficient staff and an excellent ,very tasty breakfast.

None, really. Through an unfortunate misunderstanding, we were issued with a parking ticket outside the hotel but we have lodged an appeal with the relevant local authority so we might be lucky!

Very satisfactory facilities. the receptionists were very friendly and helpful.

"Clean Room, Spartan, Carpets need replacing and a general overhaul of the place would help. The lobby area had newer furniture. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast a bit thin. Also did have parking. Ok to rest your head and get some work done would not stay here with family."

Handy location, generally quieter here than in nearby Osbourne Rd. Parking available limited but adequate as few guests. Free Wifi internet. Most staff friendly, if a little loud. Reasonable full breakfast. Room a decent size and bed quite comfortable.

TV didn't work. Room not cleaned one day when we were in room until 9:05, although cleaners were still in the corridor outside when we left. Toilet had not been cleaned properly before we arrived. Reading lights very close to bed could burn you or even melt plastic objects left on the bedside cabinet. Limited choice of breakfast. Down market feel. Breakfast time limited to 7:00 to 9:00 in the week, an hour later at weekends.

"The area that the hotel is situated is close to the haunts of the local students and their dwelling places so there was some noise late at night / early morning, which is no fault of the hotel "

Staff very friendly and helpful, full morning breakfast very good.

The room that we stayed in was a bit on the small side for 2 adults

receptionist cum waitress on Tuesday morning was brilliant and extremely helpful. thank you

had told the hotel that we would not be arriving till 10.15 / 10.30 pm but this had not been handed on to nightporter it would have been nice if the bits of ceiling that were lying on the bathroom floor had been swept up before we arrived

"We had a restful stay. The beds were very comfortable and the neighborjhood was quietcompared to Osborne Road. Unfortunately the reception area was being refurbished while we were there which of course created some temporary mess. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others."

"Adequate, but the decor lacks the personal touch, good reception staff and good value for money."

Very pleasant and helpful reception staff. Hotel warm and clean. Good value for money.

Lacking in "personal touches" in that the hotel was recently decorated but the Hotel was very bare - no personal decoration paintings etc. The breakfast appeared to be "thrown" on the plate, nice enough but a little more attention to detail would have been appreciated.

Not welcoming on arrival. Hotel was undergoing refurbishment to the whole of the grond floor - would not have booked had I known.Room was very poor for a hotel, have stayed in better guest houses.

"as a place to sleep overnight the hotel was adequate the night porter Ok a little scruffy but helful insofar as he directed us to a greasy spoon for our evening meal of greasy burgers best of a bad bunch of optionsin mitigation it was 23:00 however a sandwich would have been better than the burger."

    clean beds

shower not as clean as it could be stained carpet in the dining room no food at night room too warm

"We needed to stay one night in Newcastle and this hotel filled that need. We would be unlikely to stay there again or recommend it to any one else."

The location of the hotel was suitable for our needs and had some off street parking which we wanted. The hotel was clean and tidy and fairly quiet, with plenty of hot water.

The room was rather old fashioned with assorted patterned wallpaper, carpets and duvet. There were tiles missing above the bathroom window, which had no blinds and the bathroom window would not close properly. Breakfast was rather disappointing; there was a very limited choice of cereals; the full english breakfast was brought in before we had a chance to eat our cereal; white toast was put on the table with no offer of any alternative such as wholemeal.

"I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was well priced although a little in need of refurbishment dirty carpets and mould in the grouting of the shower. However, the staff were fantastic and the breakfast wonderful. A very comfy stay."

Friendly staff and comfort of room

The cold water ran hot for ages and I needed a drink of cold water

Great location, parking, helpful staff, great breakfast, good local knowledge for eating out

"If you are looking purely for overnight accomadation, The Dene is perfectly adequate. If you are looking for more then possibly be prepared to pay a little extra. Although competitively priced for the area, we did expect more for our money. Breakfast was fine, but perfunctory, and nothing could be described as above acceptable, except for the very lovely and helpful lady at reception!!"

The Dene hotel is a clean and adequate hotel, and a questionable reception by night staff was totally redeemed by a warm and helpful desk staff the next morning.

Purely functional, the hotel lacks any charm or finesse.

the room was clean ,Modern and tastefully decorated

Nice area and value for money. Wasn't the best hotel ever but wasn't expesnive. Served its purpose well. I'll stay again.

Room was a bit small but it was OK.

"As a cheap place to stay in an upmarket and lively location the hotel provided a useful alternative. It is however in need of a general facelift and refurbishment. The hotel is a stones throw from the Osborne Road noghtlife where there are several places to eat and drink with a good atmosphere"

The location was generally quite, particularly for the area. The breakfast was quite reasonable and the equipment within the room of a suitable standard. The bathroom was large and well equiped.

The check-in procedure was poor and unwelcoming. The decor in the room was 'busy',the wardrobe doors were falling off and unserviceable. The room was initially cold but warmed up once the heat had been turned on, at about 6pm.

"We stayed over on saturday night and sunday night. I liked the location of the hotel as it was a minute away from the pubs and restaurants in Jesmond and was nice if you didnt want to go in to newcastle centre. The metro is 5 minutes walk away so theres easy access to the centre and train stations. Service by the staff was excellent. There was a porter service on the saturday night who looked after your room key and doors were open all night so there was no time you had to be back in for. Breakfast served 8-10 on weekends which means you can have a lie in. Had a brilliant stay and would definatly go back and recomment it to anyone."

Rooms were realy spacious and clean. Bathroom was nice and modern.

The only bad thing i can think of was that the tv reception wasnt very good... but nothing to grumble about realy

dirty, barman used his fingersfor the ice, broken toilet, broken radio, need I go on

Handy for local transport and facilities

Poor maintainance of room - broken wardrobe doors, hair drier did not work, noisy heating ...

"A quiet hotel with friendly staff, set in a leafy suburb of Jesmond. Its very close to metro and bus links and has an excellent range of eateries within a 5 minute walk. However, make sure to take your own information with you as the information leaflets that were provided were not brilliant!"

Clean and rooms cleaned daily, with fresh towels.

The shakey shuddery lift, which the receptionist assured us was safe to use and that the engineer had said so!

"Perfect for business/ short breaks. Walking distance to shops resaurents and public transport."

Clean room, great shower, friendly and helpful staff. Perfectly adequate for my requirements playing in a golf tournament. Walking distance to shops and restaurents.

Room a little small. No remote for the tv. Parking might be a problem if more than six guests with cars.
