"Clean and tidy Hotel. Nice location easy to reach most parts of the city. Attention to detail lets it down, nice touches promised but not available or not working. "
Clean, central location.
Christmas party taking place, quite noisy. Shower clamp didnt work, as soon as you lifted it over 5ft it stopped, seeing I am 6ft it was a difficult process. Complimentry water is a good idea, it would be even better if they put some in the fridge, or the room at least.

"Its basic but provides all that is needed for a one-night stay."
Cleanliness. Helpfulness of staff. Central location.
Comparatively expensive for its facilities, but this reflects shortage of such accommodation in central Edinburgh.

"The room was nicely furnished, staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Hotel is an excellent location for exploring the city."
High ceilings with modern furnishings
Big, unsightly crack in bathroom sink. Very heavy and loud sliding door on bathroom was very hard to close. Room was not cleaned properly on one occassion. Not enough bouncers at the club attached, where i got hit accidently during a fight that broke out - could not be controlled by available staff.

Excellent staff friendly and helpful. Allowed us to check in early which was great.
Broken lock on the toilet caused one of us to be stuck in the loo for an hour:-

"Overall the hotel was very nice and the location was great for sightseeing. It should be noted that the bath/shower set up could be difficult for the elderly or anyone with balance problems. The tub enclosure is quite high and could be difficult for some to step into."
The location is great, the staff was nice. Good value. Lots of hot water for shower.
No clock in the room. The room was a little small. Pen and paper would have been nice.

Stylish and well presented hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Good, central location.
Rooms were a little small, but other than that very nice.

"Overall for a short stay the hotel was fine and the room adequate. Reception staff friendly and very apologetic re the failed 'wake-up' calls. Great location, very convenient for the conference centre and shopping area, site seeing etc. Ample restaurants and bars for evening wander."
Excellent bathroom and my room was a nice size with ample desk and storage space.Hotel nice and warm.
Poor tv reception and the room rug quite scruffy. Infact the corridor carpets all rather 'tired'. I also requested two early morning wake up calls, one was late and on the second day the call completely overlooked.

"I was very pleased with the accommodations provided at the Hudson Hotel. The hotel has a sleek upscale look and feel and quality was not compromised during the recent renovation."
The renovation to the building is lovely. the room is very comfortable.
The heated towel bar in the toilet was installed too close to the door. I inadvertently burned myself on it while trying to turniot off.

The flat screen television, lots of pillows, the speaker in the toilet.
Very noisy; no air conditioning we would not stay there in the summer!; shower was far too small just as well we are not fat!; the self-service facility was rather limited the coffee was undrinkable.

"I booked this hotel for its location, price and 'designer' qualifications: free wi-fi was the clincher. It took over an hour for the front of house staff to fix the wi-fi, which worked well after that. Spent little time in my room, other than for daytime napping or nighttime sleeping, but was disappointed about the design ergonomic and otherwise of my single room small spaces don't have to feel pokey; surely that's what good design is all about and the noise at all times of the day and night from the alley outside my window. Staff were very friendly, but would probably either ask for a room on the other side of the building, or look for another hotel next time. I must add that I wasn't in Edinburgh to party, nor am I 25-34 the demographic that frequented the bar. If I were I might have really loved the whole experience and not noticed the other issues."
Clean, neat, good location. Very powerful shower in a nice bathroom.
Extremely small room not particularly well-designed from an ergonomic point of view: very few flat surfaces, wardrobe difficult to access; awkward light switches behind sliding bathroom door, and rather glaring bedside light. Room overlooked alley, above entrance to Hudson Club, and was noisy at all times of the day and night I needed earplugs to sleep. Decor was 'very' designer; c. 1999, but rather 'brown' and made the small room feel even smaller.

"Fabulous stay - location brilliant and enjoyed the experience for a city break. Staff where very friendly and professional."
Loved the modern style of the hotel which followed through to the accommodation rooms, very comfortable modern style.
We felt the appliances in the bathroom were very old fashion in comparison to the overall room and styling, comfort of the hotel. Our room was wonderful but we had major problems with shower which was far too hot and sprayed the whole room and leaked through the shower pipe ! Can't have it all !

"The hotel was well looked after and the staff very helpful and friendly. The food in the Bar was lovely. The hotel also accommodated us by letting us check in straight away after an early morning flight and also letting us checkout late on the last day , by prior arrangment."
I liked everthing about the hotel , the rooms, the reception , the hotel bar and free Nightclub !!

The location was great for getting around Edinburgh both day and night. Facilities in the room were nice, Molton Brown bath products. My boyfriend particularly enjoyed the TV and music entertainment - CD's to choose from and Sky Sports!!!
Rooms were quite tight. We would have also expected breakfast to have been included in the price.

"I took a leap of faith booking this hotel online, but both my friend and I were really impressed. I cannot fault the staff, who were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. The manager recommended a restaurant for us on our first night and cared enough to ask the next day if we'd enjoyed our meal. We dealt with 3 receptionists, all of whom were warm, helpful and cheerful. The room was comfortable, quiet [which we'd requested] and clean. We stayed out of the bar, which was too noisy and packed for our tastes, but were happy to sit in the foyer and have a drink before heading out. I hope to visit the Hudson again in the future. On our trip back to the airport, our shuttle driver told us that your hotel had been given very good reviews recently. I would say they were well deserved. [Please note at this stage: my husband owns a 4* country house hotel in Ireland, so I do know good service when I experience it!] Thank you all at the Hudson."
I was happy with every aspect of my accommodation.

"Staff were excellent; friendly, welcoming and most helpful. The hotel's location is good, within easy reach of all that the city centre has to offer, but was a little too expensive. You might consider including breakfast in the price to offer better value for money."
The room was of a fair size, with a very comfy king-sized bed and a lovely, spotlessly clean bathroom.
The room was dark, with little natural light, too narrow and there was no bedding provide with the cot we had ordered.

The Hotel is very well presented, the staff were very polite and very helpful. The style of the Hotel was Boutique the rooms were very nice although a lack of accessible sockets. The bar is modern and staff were very pleasant. The Hotel had a Nightclub but as it was New Years Eve and the weather cancelled the Hogmanay events it was a bit of a blow when we were charged to go into the club although we were residents at the Hotel. All in all a very nice Hotel and I would recommend it to anyone

The cleanliness and order was really good and the staff was helpful and friendly.
When we arrived at five past two in the afternoon, our room was still not ready and we had to wait for 20 minutes, which I found quite disappointing given what we paid for the room. I noticed that the hotel was quite strict regarding check out times, so it's only fair to be equally punctual when it comes to checking in - it's nice to have your room ready and waiting for you after you've been travelling for hours. Besides, I had booked a twin room and they gave us a double.

"On arrival we found a friendly receptionist who gave us our room keys. The room was a bit on the small side but adequate for all we needed it for. The room was decorated in beautiful walnut and red colours. Great Molten brown products in the bathroom. The location of the hotel was very central. Right at the top of princes street just off a side street. From the Hotel front door you are looking directly at The Hilton Calendonian on Princes street. Had our meal the first night in the hotel, quite nice, no complaints. Lively hotel bar. Would definetly stay here again."

"The hotel is in a great location and it had a really homely and christmassy feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
Very friendly staff who were always happy to help. Lovely room and facilities.
Noise from club on side street late at night but it wasn't as bad as mentioned, maybe because we were on 4th floor.

"Hotel is located in the West End area, bus 100 from airport. Good location for restaurants and bars, on corner of Princess St main shopping area. Hotel reception is a small desk in the corner of the bar, bit strange. We were allocated a tiny box room for our first nightrm105, but at breakfast the next morning we spoke to the manager and she moved us to a bigger room at no extra charge rm201. This room however did front onto the busy street and the sash windows weren't double glazed, therefore you heard every conversation outside your window even with us being on the second floor! We didn't get to sleep to well after 4am with drunks and the hotel fire alarm system going off at 3am! On saying that the rooms are lovely decorated, dark wood, white sheets/duvet covers and bright throws. There is a night club underneath the hotel and a busy bar. I felt it would be a great hotel for a girlie weekend away, but not for a romantic break! It's supposed to be a 4*, but there is a sign on the pavement outside the hotel offering best walk in rates! If I was going again I would contact the hotel directly and make sure I got a big enough room and one that didn't front onto the busy street!!"
Good location, easily accessible from airport by bus Nr100, on corner of Princess St main shopping area. Rooms have lovely contempory decor, plasma tv, comfy beds.
The room we got was facing the main road, due to old sash windows you heard everything going on outsideeven footsteps!Hotel above niteclub, a lot of late drunk people shouting to 4am!

"The location is good and the rooms are small, but very clean. But, I would have expected a bit more from a 4* hotel. I found some of the little things were missing. I had to request slippers as there were none in the room. The letter and small packet of fudge on arrival was a very nice touch and what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Thought the breakfast menu was limited and the "
Very clean room and the bed was really comfy. In a good location. Staff were helpful when arranging taxi's.
Reception is just silly. Very small, hidden desk. Music selection was limited, cumbersome to navigate and you could only hear a cd once. Irritating if you don't like much of the selection! As well, the emptying of the bins at 10:30 pm really does create quite a noise.

Easy access to city centre, quiet room with adequate facilities.
The decor is very dark and gloomy, and the light bulb above the bed wasn't working and wasn't replaced after I drew it to your attention.
