"Hampered a little by the heavy snow fall but staff coped well and although reduced restaraunt facility due to bad weather I found the stay relaxing"

"friendly staff , good food , but appauling art it,s so bad it's worth a visit"

    staff helpfull

the art work peppering the walls in the wakefield hotel is probably the worst collection of abstract art i have seen .

    "Cheap and sort of cheerful"

Attentive staff; perhaps overly so in the case of the waitress serving breakfast, as she tried to take breakfast orders before guests had sat down at their tables!

Didn't enjoy removing the black mould from the shower head in my bathroom. Carpet in room had seen better days, most of them around twenty years ago it would appear.

Didn't like to pay £100 on credit card as security against non payment and damage. I understand why this is now a common thing at most hotels.

"Overall it was comfortable and acceptable. Food was good although the dinner menu was limited."

Well-appointed hotel and helpful, attentive staff.

Standard of cleaning in bedrooms was not good enough. Having complained and had the room cleaned again it was fine until the roof leaked and rain came through ceiling and when I moved to another room I found the toilet/bathroom had not been cleaned properly. I was comepnsated with a bottle of wine without asking.

    "Excellent, enjoyed everything."

The staff were most welcoming and helpful, i.e. there was not a record of our internet booking although I had the form, the staff member patiently found another room, upgraded and made sure we knew that the party noise would not be heard

Only wish that we could of undrawn the curtains in the room.

"A convenient stop for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and for a one night stop over. "

Welcoming staff, particularly on reception, and breakfast waitress.

A rather 'tired' feel to the decoration, and old TV. Bathroom facilities old fashioned, but shower effective. Breakfast - rather predictable - tinned fruit, cold toast, rather greasy egg.

"A lovely, friendly hotel. Staff are very friendly and obliging. The food was wonderful - we wish we had dined in the restaurant but we had previously booked elsewhere. The hotel has improved immensely over the last year or so. It has always been very nice and is obviously in a lovely area and, although the improvements are very subtle and the hotel has not changed dramatically, it is very definitely a far superior hotel now."

Lovely big room, bed very comfortable with nice clean bedding. Room decorated very nicely with lovely curtains. Bathroom very clean. We were very impressed. Food was excellenct, we only had a bar meal and breakfast but it was excellently cooked, very fresh and presented wonderfully. Full marks to your Chef.

Quite a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor outside our room and also to a lesser extent in our room, although an air freshener had been placed in the room which masked the smell to some extent.

    "Good"

Night porter was very friendly. All staff we kind and friendly. Good breakfast and bar area.

We had a view of the roof which did not bother us but we did not seem to get any air into the room.

"The hotel was fine to spend one night but I do not think I would have wanted to stay any longer."

Staff were excellent and very helpful. Food was very good and good value for money.

We were on the ground floor and I was reluctant to have the window open during the night. It was a warm evening and I found it very stuffy in the room. The bed was uncomfortable and the room looked a little shabby.

"This is an extremely well run hotel. For the money it rates better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in which cost twice as much. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable with free wireless connection to your computer in every room. The staff were top class, happy, polite and could not do enough for you."

The hotel was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were at all times extremely attentive and courteous. The restaurant food and service were excellent and extremely good value for money.

"When we arrived we were put in a room on the top floor but the lift did not go all the way so we had to struggle up flights of stairs with 2 suitcases. We were given the wrong room but promptly moved. The accomodation was very clean and tidy but the noise from traffic in the morning was a bit of a nuisance. The staff were very efficient, overall a pleasant stay."

"We were very content with our stay. Our room was quiet, well insulated from noise and comfortable. We had to wait for dinner service in the restaurant as a large dinner event was being conducted concurrently. Had we been warned we could have eaten elsewhere. As the hotel advertises itself for weddings and corporate events, the kitchen should be able to cater for concurrent service in both the restaurant as well as for the event. However, when our order arrived it was well cooked and tasted good and that was expected as the costs were on the high side. We had the full breakfast and it would have been nice to have had a choice of eggs - scrambled were on offer - and bread - the limp toasted brown/white plastic type was the only bread on offer. All members of the staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. They were well dressed in the corporate uniform and were attentive to our few needs."

The room was clean and well presented, all facilities worked and we were very comfortable.

The bathroom, while newly fitted, was very small and the noisy exhaust fan could not be switched off. There was no fridge in the room.

"This hotel was efficient and comfortable.I suspect it could be very busy with weddings at weekends. The rooms were quiet."

the hotel and our room were both very adequate for an overnight stay.

our room had no outlook, only a large roof over which we could not see. There was no help with the luggage

    Opening windows, restaurant

Noise from wedding discos until 12.30 on Saturday night

"The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were all polite and helpful, can't fault it really. The only thing that would have been helpful before arriving would be knowing roughly how much a taxi to and from the station would cost, living in London I have no concept of normal taxi prices."

It was quiet, no screaming kids running around, and they provided shower gel which was handy.

There wasn't any soya milk available at breakfast so I couldn't have cereal but there was plenty I could eat so it wasn't a problem.

"i have stayed at the hotel before and am generally satisfied with the room and breakfast. Good value for money if booked on line."

    Generally good service and clean

Towells were dirty and no teaspoon provided with tea making facility. Small things that really make the difference.
