"We enjoyed our stay simply because of the hotel's location, upgrading our room, the lovely sea view and breakfast in bed on our second night. The staff, although few of them, were friendly too. Visitor than that, we were not impressed."
We upgraded our room when booking and were thankful that we did. The staff were very pleasant. We were offered breakfast in our room on our last day as there were only 2 of us booked in and this we enjoyed very much as our room overlooked the sea and the sun was streaming through our hotel room.
The carpet was extremely marked in our room which made us not want to walk round it bare-footed and the general decor of the hotel building was poor. There was an unpleasant aroma along the corridors. The hotel had a distinctly unkempt look to it and no effort had even been made to remove the Christmas lights outside the building or a Christmas tree that was along from our room on the balcony area, which still bore its decorations.

"The room booked was not really as requested and we had contacted the hotel to ensure that our 'Superior Room with Kingsize Bed and Sea View' was actually that and not twin beds pushed together! As it happens it WAS twin beds pushed and the 'sea veiw' was, well 'conservative'! together. To the hotels credit we were upgraded to fantastic room with Kingsize four poster bed, even a tv in the bathroom!!with a superb view. The staff only actually met 3 in our three night stay! were so friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast until 10am, very nice : Food was certainly ok and once again service exceptional. Very happy to stay at this hotel again. The most comfortable bed I can remember sleeping in :"
On arrival the receptionist was very courteous and made us feel welcome
Nothing to report regarding 'bad points' other than I would add that the decor is a bit faded and the windows being the old sash type tend to be a bit draughty but heavy curtains help there. I think most of these hotels have the same issues with jaded decor. Not everyones cup of tea, but not ridiculous prices and if you want to be at the Hilton, then go there instead!

"It was ok. The room was decorated nicely, but i would forget eating there. Would stay there again, but only for the double jacuzzi bath and pray for hot water."
The room had fantastic views and was clean. It had a great bath although it took 45 mins to fill it-we had to use the travel kettle they supplied us with. Good location.
No hot water, tiny shower cubicle, breakfast was not very good-1 rasher of bacon, a dessert spoon of beans, a 1/4 fried bread, 1 fried egg no choice given for type of eggfried, scrambled, etc, half a raw tomato and toast with no butter or spread given to us. the "Full English" was also cold. Dirty walls in the dining room.

"We found it to be a pleasant room despite the things as listed above. It was a relaxing stay with comfy bed and chairs, plenty of floor space in room so not cramped. The breakfast was plentiful and cooked fresh so was hot when served. The staff were friendly and welcoming."
Room was as described. The four poster was comfortable and the sea view was great. It was fun getting up each morning and using the whirlpool/jacuzzi bath.
There were stains on the room wall near the dressing table from previous guests tea making efforts, which could be checked and cleaned each book out day. There was a lot of dust on the top decorations on the lamp and also the fancy frames on the big mirrors. The outside decoration on the balcony was in a rather dilapidated state of repair. The jacuzzi bath took a long time to fill to usable level.

"We enjoyed very much Eastbourne as a place to visit and will surely return. "
Very good location. Nice room, as we had booked the lucury suite.
Treatment from staff was ok, but had expected a better service. Did not use breakfast opportunities more than two days, as we felt that attention to bus coach traveller group got most of the attention. Came down second morning, - restaurant almost empty, but no tables cleared and no staff to be seen. Had to fint personel to order food, and felt not very welcomed. Hotel of this standard should have more service minded staff.

"I paid a little and got a little! I thought that as it`s promotion on the website was `as seen on Hotel Inspector` it would be a good deal. "
It was on the sea-front and my room was facing the sea
Most of the holes in the shower head were blocked, the curtains were blowing around the windows on Monday night as the windows are sash with great gaps, the socket in the bedroom was cellotaped to the wall with a large gap showing the wires, healthandsafety would not be pleased to see that. The breakfast was lukewarm on the first morning and cold on the second so I did not stay for the following two breakfasts.

"Do not buy the room on the strength of the balcony and ensure you bring your own shampoo, bubble bath etc. The staff are very welcoming and made us feel at home throughout our stay. On the whole the hotel is very nice, could do with air conditioning and a few other general day to day points but it was ok."
The four poster room was beautiful and the dvd collection was great although you could not access the dvds unless the staff were at the front desk.
I had bought the room on the strength of the balcony. The balcony was, compared to the room and the rest of the hotel, VERY much below standard. Bird mess spotted the floor, the roof was falling to bits and I did not trust the railing to hold me should I have leant against it. There was no balcony furniture and both the next door rooms where accessible should I be inclined to gain unauthorised entry!! Our room was not available until 1.5 hrs after the check in time and we had to wait in the sun lounge. There were no bath products provided other than a tiny bar of soap.

"over priced, main photo of hotel had been very cleverly taken somewhat missleading we thought. "
frendly staff, one room no14 had good sea view, good breakfast
over priced for the size of the room,we ordered two superiour rooms and seems we go two double rooms, one room 14 was very small for a double, room 31 had a sea view if you looked through the sie window.

"We both enjoyed our stay and would probably stay there again."
Excellent location, we stayed in a refurbished twin room which was very good. Staff was always efficient and courteous. Although menu choice limited, food was tasty and well presented for that standard of hotel.
Bar needed barrels changing no man on hand to help women to lift them, consequently there was no draught beer for 2 days. Car parking a bit of a lottery. Not a large choice on menu in restaurant, due to being geared up for coach parties. All items not a major issue

"I would definitely stay here again for the balcony alone and with renovations going on it will be a lovely hotel I am sure. Our room is in desperate need of an upgrade Room L2. Staff were friendly and when we could not book in were given coffee which was nice. "
Very friendly booking in staff. Nice hotel on ground floor level but our room still not refurbished and a bit tatty. Breakfast staff efficient.
Unable to book in at 1 p.m. as stated. Breakfast tablecloth not changed from previous morning We sat at the same table both mornings I chose not to eat mushrooms and egg and expected extra of other items on menu but got a meagre breakfast both mornings.

"Loved it."
friendliness of staff who recognised us from previous year and made us feel welcome. This will encourage us to book again for next year.
Bed in room 4 is too soft. Would prefer harder bed, but love the view and size of room.

"It was not like they showed on the internet, thats for sure. An average B & B would be 10 times better. "
The room was very small, The shower even smaller. The breakfast was not good , they used the cheapest foods possible, the orange juice did not even have the colour orange, very poor.

"Very nice hotel with nice rooms, however some people may have bit of wrong aproach to the guest, fir the question if I would stay again hmm not sure I would possibly look for another as there is huge choice of hotels."
very nice and pleasant lady at the reception, check in proces quick and short,we have been greted very fast and as she was taking payment from another gentleman at the bar she appologise and said she will be with us shortly. Very profesional.
Half of the night I was wondering why is te bed bit uneven and then I discovered that the wooden frame of the bad is broken and thats the reason of uneven matrace. As we stil sleep at 8:30 somobody with the key I guess housekeeping came in to our room opened the door realise that we are still in the bed and still sleeping, she sat sorry an desapeared. As we came down for the breakfast the lady which was serving directed us to the table which was not cleaned and redy even there were many tables available and ready I guess ready for lunch I had a feeling that the lady was bit rushing and could be more pleasant with the guest.

"I had a very good time. Eastbourne is beautiful and the people were very friendly. The hotel was great and I enjoyed my stay. However, some people could consider it a little bit shabby, but not more so than other hotels in that price range I have stayed in in the UK. Overall, I had a very lovely time."
Very friendly staff, very good breakfast. Generally a very friendly hotel with a decent standard and in a great location.
Smell of smoke constantly on my floor 3rd floor that also was in the room. Shower could have used more water pressure.

"If you are a young couple do not go to Eastbourne go to Brighton instead. If you are of the retirement+ age i would highly recommend it for a peaceful stay so long as you are not in a wheelchair"
friendly restaurant staff, clean rooms
Brighton festival whitsun weekend break. 1. restaurant was closed as there regualr customer decided to get a take away! 2. bar was closed 3. no room to move in room with a cot and couldn't access the wardrobe. 4. not all 5 tv channels had reception. 5. despite booking a room with a cot, we were put in a room on the 3rd floor, where we had to walk down narrow corridors with 2 separate doors to open not easy with a pram then we had a flight of stairs to carry the pram down! 6. reception not helpful in finding a more suitable room despite our struggles with a pram to even get to out room. 7. linen left out in the small corridors making it a nightmare once again with a pram. 8. was telephoned the day before to say that they couldn't get a cot for us but later rang to say they had borrowed one! 9. went to breakfast and was asked to come back in 10 mins as the only highchair they had was in use, when we returned, they had to ask the other family if they could take their child out of the highchair to give to us! 10. as part of our babys routine, we wanted to bath her but there was no bath This is not a place to stay with small children who need a cot or are in a pushchair.

"This is the second time that me and my partner have stayed first time a bit better than this time, but its a lovely place to stay, staff are friendly, its clean, And also a nice place for familys to stay, Would say its about a 5 to 10 min walk to the pier and town centre from the Hotel so not to bad."
The staff where helpful and friendly, And our room was lovely and clean simple but had everything that we needed in there, It was good as they have a DVD Library in the TV room and DVD players are provided in your room. Also good only paid £100 for 2 nights which I thought was good considering that we stayed Easter weekend and most other places charged more!
Breakfast could have been a bit better just enough for me but not my partner! Also hot tap in our room not fixed correctly so everytime we tried to put it on it just spun round!

"I find the enjoyment of my stay varies with the room I'm allocated."
The East Beach Hotel is a small and very friendly hotel where I feel at ease as a solo traveller.
I've found the standard of the rooms can vary quite drastically and some are looking quite care-worn.

Very nice room with great sea view. Great to have an on-suite childs room. Very clean rooms.
Christmas tree still up at front of hotel....in february! Full ashtrays mixed with rainwater outside. Dirty tea cups in the lobby. Breakfast was fine but some crockery was dirty, and the table linen was not clean. Also food on the carpet of the breakfast room.
