"This could be so nice. If the exterior were tidied up you could not see the garden for leaves and the rooms freshened up or brought into the 21st century, then it would make all the difference."
The entrance, lobby and bar area are very pleasant. It has a real ski-chalet feel and a lovely ambience. It would be a nice site to hold a reception in their large conservatory and dining area. A well-cooked breakfast was provided.
A strange location -nestled into the Avon ski slope, and an unexpected mountainous minor road to reach the car park. Going upstairs in the hotel though is a stale reminder of the pastels of the 1970's. Room was clean and functional, but a little depressing. Orange juice at breakfast was fizzy, and I was told that I sat at the wrong table.

Booked 'blind' using the internet, unsure of what I would find. Was more than pleasantly surprised! Rooms in chalets were excellent, the restaurant was first class but affordable, and the beer in the bar was kept well. Service from everyone was of the best standard - and then to top it all they phoned me up a day later to let me know they had overcharged me! Highly recommended

"A pleasant experience."
The steaks we had for dinner were absolutely delicious and extremely well cooked.
There was a slighly musty smell on the landing outside the bedrooms.

"Generally pleasant. Lovely location. Really peaceful."
staff were welcoming. room and communal areas clean and inviting.
Stayed in one of the cabins. Shower lost pressure when tried to turn heat up and water little more than a trickle. Told after the event we could have used one of the the hotel rooms, which is all well and good if they are not all booked. Some kind of net curtaining would be good in the chalets as not everyone likes to have curtains totally drawn, but this is necessary as the footpath is directly outside the glazed doors to the rooms.

"We booked LyncombeLodge "by chance" not knowing anything about it but were certainly very pleased with the outcome. It was within convenient reach of many attractions which we visited i.e. beach, museums, preserved railways, zoo farm."
The setting was lovely and I felt the staff were real people and not just putting on a front for the customer.
A couple of items in the room were broken but not to the extent of interfering with the stay. I expect that they will be repaired in due course. When booking on line I didn't seem to be able to book what I wanted in one go and had to book half of the requirements and then go again with a second booking. I had to add a proviso that if I couldn't also get the second booking, I would have to cancel the first. I don't think this is a fault of the hotel but of the checking restrictions e.g. number of rooms apparently not matching the number of people within general booking system.

The staff at the hotel were wonderful, very friendly. I would deffinately recommend this place over a premier inn etc.....the rates were good and the price included a breakfast. We were only stopping overnight for the Airport next day, but the staff made our stay very enjoyable.
There weren't any bad points as such, but the dinner menu was a bit limited, although the food was excellent quality.

Owners and staff friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed. Clean. Dinner menu good.
Bathroom floor bit industrial, and shower gel dispenser dirty but would be difficult to keep clean cos of design. Owner said unprompted this room is next due for refurbishment

"A lovely break"
We booked here at random. Just needed a night away within 2 hours of home. No other b aand b accommodation would book for only one night at the weekend. Staff friendly and bar cosy.
No marmalade at breakfast. Couldn't open big window in bedroom so it was a bit stuffy in the night

"We wanted to visit the beautiful village of Cheddar, its gorge and caves and also wanted to spend a day at the famous Longleat Safari park and we were looking for an affordable Bed and Breakfast nearby. We found Lyncombe Lodge to completely surpass all of our expectations. The welcome was so friendly and helpful. Our room was great. The staff were so friendly and available for a chat all the time. The bar was a very nice place to hang out and the restaurant was a great surprise. The choice of food was great, so many local produce and it tasted amazingly good! Especially the chocolate mousse! Not only was the decor of the hotel warm and luxurious, but its surrounding grounds were also great, with beautiful views over the Somerset hills. The best thing was being so close to Cheddar Gorge, Longleat and Weston Super Mare beach and then coming 'home' to Lyncombe Lodge in the evening!"
Warm, welcoming, friendly staff, great restaurant, always helpful, fab food, nice bar, beautiful room, picturesque surroundings, close to the amazing Cheddar Gorge and caves and famous Longleat Safari Park, value for money.
Couldn't fault Lyncombe Lodge at all. It was our best experience of a bed and breakfast by far and we have stayed in many B&B's!!!

"Lovely weekend, bar and reception staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Whole experience was very nice, except the contact with the chef - very aggressive manner and not very good customer service attitude however I have heard his food is good!. Plenty of nice places to visit locally - however a car is a must have! "
Very friendly staff, hotel is in a beautiful setting

"The hotel was not where we first expected - but once there it is a very pleasant place to be. I would come back and recommend as independant stay not so much for a night out in Cardiff - much better for Bristol area. Also very much a special place for a special celebration -"
The hotel comfort and setting was most pleasant. The staff excellent - were very efficient to assist with our requirements and adjust small mishap with room booking.
on-line booking let it unclear how far from Cardiff the hotel was. In direct line it seemed close but by car and roads, less than direct line! Also experienced using GPS shortest route.. But once there it was very relaxing.

"we liked the thought of the peace and quiet away from London and we love that part of the country as we do sightseeing in somerset"
we found it very clean, tidy and comfortable.the staff were warm, friendly, helpful and polite
we couldn't find anything to dislike about it

"We were only there for a night. Would not have liked to have been there for any longer than that."
Staff the Owners were very attentive and obliging. The Hotel facilities such as the Bar and Restaurant were very clean and inviting. Most of the Hotel's rooms to be fair are in the main building but the chalet rooms are a little on the small side and the bed we found to be uncomfortable.
The Hotel is a little inaccessible. It is situated on the side of a hill and there are small climbs to get to the chalet which did not really suit my wife who has slight disabilities.

"Had a lovely stay. The challet was a bit small, but clean and cosy, with a pretty view. The location of the hotel was good, in the woodland with peaceful surroundings. The staff were friendly, especially the Chef who made us some very tasty desserts. There was a wedding on the Saturday night which meant we couldn't eat in the restaurant, which we weren't informed of originally. All in all very enjoyable."

"Service was good throughout, and especially in dining room. Dinner a little spoilt by over-peppered main course both my wife's and mine - and we chose different dishes!. Also spoilt by single guest using mobile phone throughout his meal and talking loudly into it. Mobile phones should be banned in dining rooms! Finally, first wine on white wine list is described as having a pleasant acidity/dryness cannot remember exact term used: this is misleading; it is quite sweet, and was not sufficiently chilled. The red was excellent."
Clean room, comfortable bed, quietly situated at rear of hotel. Good shower.
Noisy fan in bathroom, and noise from fan/air-conditioning outside kitchen below?. Room a little small.
from Plymouth UK, stayed on November 3, 2007
"Staff were polite, courteous and good humoured. We had an early flight so we didn't get to see a proper breakfast as the kitchen staff weren't in until 0630. The bar and kitchen staff from the evening were very helpful and gave us a breakfast to take to our room for the morning. Much appreciated. The room itself was suffering a little for wear and tear."
It was a quick and easy to use room
The room and bathroom were suffering from wear and tear.
stayed on July 30, 2007
The room was nice and cosy; clean with a comfy bed and it was stocked well with biscuits, water and tea and coffee which was refilled each day.
I was staying in a chalet, the lock was very stiff and it was difficult to lock and unlock the door. One of the taps kept leaking no matter how hard I turned it.

The room was excellent and so was the food at the restaurant. The staff were very polite and resourceful.

Food was not particularly value for money

"The situation of the hotel is truly lovely. Unfortunately on the evening of our stay a spectacular thunderstorm prevented exploration! The food was a find - truly enjoyable. The evening meal was excellent 'night out' value for money. The breakfast also most enjoyable. All provided in a very comfortable restaurant. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay."
Comfortable bed. Hairdryer and Kettle provided. Decent bathroom.
Nothing serious - the room a little small perhaps; the television was much too high on wall. A couple of easy chairs would have been nice. Hum audible from kitchen extractor, but it didn't impair sleeping.

"An average experience in an average hotel."
The restaurant was reasonable and the staff in there were very efficient and friendly.
The person who checked us in was rather surly and indifferent.

"Our stay was pleasant. The room was fine and the 2 ladies that served us breakfast were superb and very friendly and certainly made us feel very welcome! The grounds were also good and a walk in the woods was refeshing."
We thought the room was comfortable and adequate for a one night stay.
Thought that the tv was to high up and a remote control would have been nice.

"The hotel was very clean and staff were excellent. I dined in the restaurant on the evening and the food was very tasty and well priced. The hotel is located close to Bristol airport - only about 6 miles away - and the cost of a taxi from the airport to the hotel only cost "

Clean hotel, friendly staff.
TV was old and no battery in the remote control, but I was not staying in watching TV, so no matter.
