"The hotel was very quiet - obviously out of season and perhaps the lower floor rooms were not being offered. We were at Castle Donington as a surprise to celebrate a relative's birthday. They live on High St and we needed somewhere near, just for the night. "
The hotel room was quite spacious, very warm and clean. The breakfast was good. The receptionist was polite and welcoming and showed us to our room as soon as we arrived at 1pm. The breakfast choice was good but some of the fried breakfast overcooked. The few staff we saw were fairly friendly.
The room - No 24was at the top of the building and my husband has difficulty climbing stairs. I told the receptionist that if we were staying more than 1 night we would have to have a lower floor room. The other option we were told was in a courtyard on the outside of the building. Perhaps the room was a lower grade because of the price offer. The bed was not comfortable.

"I would really like to know if my comments have resulted in any changes at the hotel."
The young lady in the bar/restaurant area at l;unch time was excellant, she couldn't do enough for us as were the staff at breakfast. The food was more than acceptable.
The bedroom, number 28 was extremely run down although clean. My daughter checked us in otherwise I would have asked to be moved. The four poster was loose and creaking and the wallpaper was so old and looked grubby. The hallway carpet was absolutely disgusting and clearly should have been changed years ago.

"Thoroughly enjoyed stay"
Location perfect for Donington Park. Food very good. Small shops and pubs very close by.
Not a major problem but a fan in the room would be nice - very hot whilst we were there.

"Overall, a very standard experience, at a premium price."
Clean. Nice bathroom.
I have no idea how you sleep at night after charging us over 500 pounds for 3 nights stay. You should be ashamed.

"Excellent, highly recommended."
My Daughter and a friend were visiting Download Festival, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was far better than expected for price. I felt comfortable leaving 2 young girls there alone and they want to go back again next year!

"This is a wonderful historic hotel with very friendly and efficient staff that made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped through the door, it is so good that we've booked to go back again this month"
From check in to check out was perfect, we had a superior room with a four poster bed, the evening meal was cooked to perfection, the full English breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of cereals and juices, The receptionist was very helpful, a charming lady, whom we were chatting to for half an hour on checkout. The waitresses and bar staff were very friendly and efficient, the Hotel had a charming atmosphere about it. Unlike some of the plastic hotels I have stayed in.
The bar had run out of bitter, but the new barmaid was very apologetic and embarrassed and suggested a very nice white wine.

"Comparing value for money with the other 5 hotels we stayed at during the same holiday, this one was the least value for money."
Friendly and comfortable.
Had to negotiate stairs with heavy cases.

"Good."
The breakfast was lovely, bed comfortable and room very clean.
The shower was very poor, the cups for tea and coffee were dirty, the waitress at breakfast was very miserable, did not smile or even want to talk.

"good could of have more money off us if the menu had changed even bringing in a roast on a sunday "
large room good food at night easy parking
very poor bar area and what was on offer the menu did not change from night to night i.e. same things Sunday should have been a roast available we went somewhere else that night why don't they reflect what the area has i.e. at breakfast have local great sausages local marmalade and stop serving up poor bacon that?s what get the 5 stars when your staying in hotels all the time. The chef must be good because the foods very good at night but its let down by the breakfast not the cooking but the buying in of the cheape food basic items for the breakfast lets this hotel down

"Good, comfortable nights sleep before doing the Ron Haslam race school at Donington! Excellent!"
Tastefully furnished rooms. Catered well at breakfast for vegetarians.
Not good for vegetarians in the restaurant. No other bad points!

"on arrival I was a little disapointed, the hotel looks better presented on the internet. the food exeeded my expectations but if you are going to serve pigeon either buy a metal detector or state in the menue that it may contain shot. my wife enjoyed the stay and if shes happy I am happy"
the food was exelent. the morning waitress was bright and very pleasant
decor was tatty and needing a face lift. the evening waitress was not very professional, she seems like a nice girl but requires more training. a managment issue

"Having stayed in a number of hotels for both leisure and business I found your staff among to best I have even encountered "
Staff were excellent, very helpfull.
Generally the place was tidy, but there were things lying around that should have been cleaned up. The room was clean, but the light bulbs were only half working and I had to switch on the electrics from the fuse box when I entered.

"This hotel was very good. It was clean comfortable with a wonderful shower, lovely towels, and a comfortable bed.Hairdryer, iron and ironing board in the room. Nicely decorated with 2 easy chairs and enough room to be comfortable. The breakfast was very good with excellent coffee and the staff were very friendly and helpful, suggesting other places to eat in the evening as the hotel bistro was fully booked, and then enquiring the next day if we had had a good meal.Yes we had. The only problem we found was the room did not have a window only two french doors that opened onto the fire escape walkway which meant that you couldn't safely ventilate the room whilst you were asleep. We would definately stay at this hotel again as long as we could have a room with a window that we could leave open during the night. This room would have been unbearable on a hot night."
The room was clean comfortable and quite large. The best shower in a hotel we have experienced. The staff were friendly and very helpful, missing chocolates immediately found. No nasty smells in the room or hotel.Lovely towels.Very good breakfast and EXCELLENT coffee!
The toilet cistern filled VERY slowly, would have complained if we had stayed more than one night. The main problem was the room had no window, only 2 french doors leading onto a fire escape pathway which meant you had no means of safely ventilating your room whilst asleep.

"The most important part of any overnight stay is the bed & sleep, unfortunately both my partner & I did not sleep well at all & woke feeling like we'd been kicked in the necks. This seriously compromised the quality of our stay."
It was conviniently located, the breakfast service was lovley, very polite & well mannered staff.
THE PILLOWS!!! Cheap, uncomfotable & small for such a big bed. I did complain about the pillows & was told the quality was because of allergies but if I had asked they would have given me a better quality pillow. I feel a good quality pillow should be the norm & if allergy sufferer's are staying in the hotel, they should ask for special pillows not automatically give everyone awful cheap foam pillows & then NEXT morning say I could have asked!

"The hotel was excellent in relation to staff and room...an excellent breakfast cooked to order.....The noise of the planes overnight destroyed the experience and made sleeping practically impossible You need earplugs to sleep in this hotel "
good location in relation to main M1 road as we travelled further up country
very noisy airport..especially between 0100 hrs and 0300 hrs

"I have stayed here before several times in the past so was aware of most details."
Ity is a pleasant situation with a more ghomely feel than the larger hotels, the staff were helpful and friendly
Considering its proximity to the airport runway and the fact it is a night flight airport, double glazing in the bedroom would make it more comfortable

"The room was over priced for what it was, We have stayed in cheaper rooms in other hotels, which where of a better standard."
The Room was ok, But it was very expensive for what you get.
