"will use hotel again if need be and use this site again for any other designation."
i didnt expect the hotel to be as nice as it was and was def value for money, he didnt think that we would have got the breakfast as well. also got a surprise as how close to the playhouse it was which was my purpose for my stay. we just waited till the last minute before we went over the road. extremely happy with stay. wish we could have stayed longer.

"We had cancelled the first night of our original 2 night stay however whenwe checked in noone could find our reservation as we had arrived a day later than originally booked. No apology made for the error although it was sorted out with very little fuss. Reservation/bar staff, all foreign spoke, very good English as I was concerned that they would not understand what the problem actually was."

"I can't remember seeing any information on booking about the fact that there was no restaurant, probably I assumed that as they served breakfast, there would be one. But anyway, there were plenty good-value restaurants very near. For an overnight or possibly weekend stay the room was fine, but if you were to stay a week the lack of drawers, good wardrobe facilities etc woul;d be a bit of a problem."
Very modern adaptation of traditional Edinburgh building. Shower-room particularly intriguing - space-saving but room for toilet-bags etc. Also all-tiled and very clean.

location was good
I think for the cost of the stay a cooked breakfast in the morning would have been nice.Although i do understand it states a continental breakfast.

"The standard generally met that expected of this hotel group, however, one chair in a double room at this price and no small table even to take breakfast which guests were welcome to do would appear to somewhat diminish the enjoyment of the stay"
Proximity of hotel to city centre and travel facilities
lack of sufficient furnishings in room

"Suffice to say that I would return to this hotel again and yes,I would recommend it to my friends."
Like all the other Express by Holiday Inns I have stayed in this hotel was very good value for money ,centrally located and had a high standard of cleanliness.
Unfortunately our room was situated to the front of the hotel and while the second layer of glazing completely shut out the noise from the busy street below while it was closed it also shut of our air supply. The room didnt have air conditioning and while there was a fan it was faulty and failed to ventilate the room . We were blessed with glorious weather during our stay in Edinburgh , daily temps of 22degrees and nightly temps of a similar degree. We complained to Reception but the fan still didnt work.

"Check-in process was fairly slow and registartion cad had not been prepared for my arrival. However, I was allowed to check-in early as opposed to just leave my bags which was a nice guesture!! More information on the evening meals would have been better as I was under the impression that an evening meal would have been available. The only thing that was available was bar snacks which were served between 7:30pm and 9:00pm which was too late for my needs. Having said this the hotel is located very close to quite a few restaurants which were nice and reasonably priced! All in all the room was as advertised and the hotel was ideally placed for the playhouse theatre which was my main reason for using this hotel."
Bed was comfy and the bathroom was very clean.
Bathroom was quite small and cramped when 2 people using it at the same time. When checking out the receptionist did not process the pament as a completetion of the authorisation on check-in which delayed things as the card declined due to the hotel trying to take 2 payments.

"As we were only there one night it is quite hard to judge the hotel, the breafast was nice, the room was fine but felt a bit small, the only minus that i can see was there was a funny smell in the room, i wasn,t sure if we were underneath the kitchens or near an indian take away but we were on the ground floor. As we were only there for one night it was okay to put up with but if i had been there any longer i would have asked to change rooms."
i liked the locations of the hotel, it was a perfect location for the theatre
i dislike the indian takeaway smell or it may have just been a spicy smell that seemed to be hanging in the room.

"We returned to the hotel late in the evening to find you use your door key to access the hotel door to the foyer. Good security! There are plenty of restaurants and take-aways nearby. Also very central for Princess Street shopping. Breakfast is in the dining room only and was well catered even at 9.20 a.m. when it finished at 9.30! Staff were friendly and efficient. We had never booked via the internet before and were very pleased to find we were expected! Check-out was straight forward and efficient. Everything went smoothly, everything we needed was provided in a straight forward manner with no fuss."
Spacious, clean, well equipped, good shower, comfortable bed, breakfast well catered
The hot drinks machine protrudes over the self-serve tray rails so when you slide the tray along the rails past that section your drinks get knocked over!!!

"Internet access is absurdly expensive. I know it's the same rate as other Edinburgh hotels, but £15 a night is too high - it's much cheaper to use dial-up. I can get nearly a month of broadband internet access for that price at home. You would make more money on the service if you brought it down to US prices $10 a night. In fact many US hotels now include broadband access in the price, and this is a significant factor when I choose a hotel."

"Hotel suited my daughter and I for our 3 night stay. Missed a cooked breakfast - something we do not have at home but enjoy when we are staying in a Hotel."
Location very good as it is close to the main attractions of the City
Bar lacks some feeling ie lack of atmosphere in the evening. Only one pillow!

"Would be beneficial to have a better idea of the location and sites and services shopping, restaurants, etc. that are close by. It is difficult to book different room set-ups twin or single beds at the same time when booking on line."
Location was excellentconvenient being close to bus station. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Check-in staff were very helpful and efficient.
Breakfast buffet could be improved with more hot foods.

Good clean hotel in a central location.
It took over 20 minutes to check out as there were only 2 staff & they had to take a credit card.

"As above, I was appalled that I could not place a drink from the bar on my bill. More impotantly I could not make an urgent phone call. I was advised that as a pre-paying customer I could not do this. If I had known of the mis-trust that you have in your potential clients I would not have used the hotel and have no intention of using your company again as a result. Surely a cash paying customer is more trusted than someone with a credit card in todays fraud-ridden society. Shocking policy to adopt. Also, the self-serve breakfast routine was a shambles, no trays/cutlery etc, with very few staff to put it right."
