A very pleasant stay. Staff attentive and professional. Fine dining restaurant was very good.

A small niggle. I left my wash bag behind and they kindly offerred to send it on to me. Good so far. However, there was a charge for postage. I find that a touch petty and probably will mean I am unlikely to return. A classic case of turning a positive into a negative. A real shame.

"Excellent location, very froendly and helpful staff, excellent restaurant"

The most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in

Room decor a bit spartan - only one armchair

"I would certainly stay in the hotel again if I were to be in or passing through Manchester"

It was a pleasant, spacious room.

    There were no bad points.

"Would happily stay again as the location and the hotel itself were great, but would probably book on a room-only basis."

We were upgraded on arrival - room was fantastic and check-in staff were extremely helpful.

We had full English breakfast included in the rate and am so glad we did not pay the full £13.50 each - the service in the restaurant was dreadful, and what passed for a full English was mostly cold. My partner's order was also incorrectly taken.

"Refreshing to stay in an older place. Nice architecture , high ceilings etc. "

Decor and environment lovely. Some staff very helpful e.g. on arrival when were told of power cut. Most staff very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast waitress took a while to notice we were there. Barely greeted us before she pointed, wordlessly, to a table. Continued to look sullen throughout. Thank goodness the others were helpful.

The softest most comfy bed in the world!

Could hear a few doors getting slammed.

"Decent hotel, nice rooms - 12% service charges are simply greed and a way of employers paying low pay and getting away with it"

Coffee at breakfast was very very weak Bar prices expensive and 12% service charge added on is unwelcome to say the least

"overall pleasant stay, and the penthouse style suite is a feature to try"

Room booked online 24 hours before. They had my reservation. I had the fabulous fifth suite which was definitely an experience. Breakfast service on time and lovely.

elevator broke, so had to use stairs with luggage. Hotel can be tricky to find with the roadworks if not forewarned or you are coming from a disctance.

"Very comfortable - great facilities and location."

The food!!! Also being upgraded was a definite bonus.

I'm a coffeeholic!! The coffee we were served after lunch was dreadful. The young girl serving us said she thought the coffee maker was not working. Eventually a great male waiter came with some fresh coffee and explained there had been a fault with a machine. But this was the only black mark!!

Air conditioning and hotel room very nice

    No lift working.

"Room very clean and tidy - very minamalist which I know is the style of the Abode but a couch in the room would be nice!"

Excellent service checking in and securing a booking in the restaurant.

Very slow check out when I was in a considerable rush - quite frustrating

"easy access for station and city centre; very clean"

    Great Bed; softest towels ever;

poor service in cafe bar; no guide to hotel/room facilities in room; no guidance for restaurant; on booking out details of possible upgrades but not offered on arrival

    "very comfortable, convenient and enjoyable"

Excellent atmosphere; friendly, helpful and efficient staff throughout the hotel; excellent food in the cafe bar - set dinner is very good value; comfortable spacious room; old building has lots of character; excellent location - very convenient for Piccadilly station and all city centre transport routes.

    "Good stay and friendly staff."

Very good room and and nice friendly service

In check in I was not aware that I had to leave credit on the room to pay for any room service. When I ordered food on room service I was given change which I gave back as I had not payed anything. Then I was being asked to go to the reception to pay the bill. When I ordered room service again, there was again confusion as I was sked for the money as there was no credit on my room.

Staff were incredibly helpful - one even walked me to a taxi under an umbrella as it was raining! Room was clean and very very well designed and as a whole the hotel had a feeling of quality, bar are and service was above average also.

No remote for tv.... But a replacement was sent to the room straight away.

"Excellent - would recommend this hotel - will book again if returning to Manchester."

Good sized family room - minimalist styling - central location.

Generally none - occasional noise from neighbouring rooms slamming of doors

"I would stay again although I'd like to be away from fire escapes and housekeeping cupboards. I could not fault the cleanliness of the bedroom and the ensuite, however I think the glass panels in the bar area were dusty. I would also like to try the restaurant next time I stay. Great location as near to Piccadilly train station, city centre shopping and china town."

The hotel was clean and welcoming. Our room was cozy but had everything we needed. The decor is modern yet homely.

On check in we werent welcomed with a smile and non of the facilities were explained to us. The male receptionist didnt offer to take a pre-authorisation on check in, and payment was taken from my account on available, the reason for this was not explained, working in hotels myself I found this very rude. On making the reservation the internet stated free local parking, however this was not the case we had to park in an NCP where we were charged over

"This is a great hotel for anyone arriving by train. An up-coming part of the city. Hotel imaginatively converted from old, striking building. Bar area could be a little brighter and less crowded with furniture which makes it feel slightly opressive but the rooms are great - so much better than the standard unimaginative hotel design. The check-in is always friendly and helpful."

Eclectic airy rooms with real SPACE

Upper corridors a bit odd and utility looking. Breakfasts should have better quality cereals and more organic choice. organic choice.

Different - the less formal, non-corporate style of the hotel made it appealing. We liked the mix of modern and traditional syles, which worked very well, together with the flexibility made available to us by staff during our stay.

    Nothing comes to mind.

"Location was excellent for our needs. Staff were very helpful giving us an early check in, breakfast was excellent. Only complaints were the TV was too small and the room was noisy from the bar next door. Neither would probably be an issue only that we were staying in the room quite a lot, as my partner was in Manchester for an eye operation. The small TV was an issue for me as I was watching it quite a bit, the noisy room 101 was probably just that one in the whole hotel, so it was unfortunate we got it!"

Location was excellent, staff helpful with our needs of an early check in.

TV was too small. Our room was next to the bar next door and we could hear music all night till 3am!!

"The pricing was a little unclear and it seemed to imply that complimentary breakfast items were available. Breakfast was not included and the complimentary items were tea/coffee and biscuits, no fresh fruit as suggested. These were not available in the room either, although the tea/coffee making area was on the same floor as my room. I ate in the restuarant for lunch and the service and food were excellent. The location was also very good."

The staff were very friendly and the room clean and very comfortable, after ...... see below

the heating did not work in my room and it took quite some time to sort it out. Prior to it being fixed, I was offered an extra sheet to keep warm!!!

"I had been looking for something old and comfortable to treat my partner for his birthday - I was aware that the hotel had a modern decor but felt that although provisions were more than adequate it didn't have that cosy, comfy feel that I would have preferred after returning from a night out. However the bed was huge and very comfortable so no complaints there and the staff were very helpful & friendly."

Good location, friendly staff - lovely comfy bed.

Felt that the room was a lacking that comfort feel. Achieved a modern feel in an old building but didn't quite hit the nail in the head with regards to comfort.
