    "great"

having worked at the hotel as a cabaret act in the early eighties i was amazed at how different it is now. The room was lovely and your modernisation was perfect

I'm glad we had a sat nav as finding it would have been difficult with all the little roads to get there it was confusing

"The room we booked had a little fly problem but they moved us with no problem and as they upgraded us to the bridle suit this made our stay even better, especially as we were only married two months ago."

" Food was well above the standard of the hotel in general. Reception was good. "

    food was excellent

room was old fashioned. heating available on a timer we could not control. Bar steward displeased when a coffee was returned

very friendly staff, Excellent food and breakfast, comfortable rooms and excellent amenities.

creeky floor boards from room above. not many signs leading the way to swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms.

"very happy with the stay overall"

the room was very nice the food on the bar menu was good the swimming pool was a big plus

drink prices a bit high location of the room in the buliding at the back ment no good views could have done with more bar staff

"I expected the accommodation/corridors and hotel room to be of a better standard - the web site was deceiving. However, the accommodation was clean. "

Staff were excellent. Food was spot on and excellent value.

The bar was understaffed but the staff on the bar coped admirably. There was a wedding on at the time of our stay and it would appear that this had not be allowed for in staffing levels. Shower went cold without warning in our room and that of family with us who were staying in a nearby room.

views good, food lovely, staff very nice

Was disappointed in the room as we were in the attic and there was no shower, the shower in the spa was uncontrolable

"Overall impression was spoled by the food and we would not return OR recommend this hotel at all because of this. We have stayed at a couple of other Best Western Hotels and the food was much better."

Helpful reception staff Nice swimming pool Good gym

Food was appalling and there was no apology after complaining. No mini bar!

    "I thoroughly enjoyed it. "

The indoor swimming pool overlooking the country side is a delight. The bar food was fresh and reasonably priced. The room was clean and the mattress very comfortable.

There is little sound insulation. One tends to hear snoring or indeed any other activity from the rooms nearby. However it is more likely to be the former than the latter because the majority of the guests are well past their ?breading season?.

"Generally ok....not easy to find. Great views. A lot of good things going for this hotel but the ebst is not being made of it's qualities. Lets itself down in small but signifcant ways."

Excellent bar food. Kids liked the TV.

Breakfast was disappointing for such a hotel. No choice. Swimming pool layout with changing rooms is dangerous due to wet floor. Extra bed in the room was useless. Marathon walk to find our room. Pillows were a disaster as too soft and thus useless. Child rules for swimming not made clear at booking. not terribly child friendly.

    The views and the food

Hotel is very rambling with umpteen steps and no lift. Room was clean but rather small and characterless. Parts of the hotel were cold and draughty.

"Would like more room options on on-line site. I'm sure you had a larger room which we might have chosen depending on cost Would like to have been given an opportunity to upgrade at check in but were just said what you booked is what you get staff very friendly and attractive setting very nice, but had to drive back to court yard thru trash dumpsters to unload bags. Not attractive Would like to have brief verbal review of facilitis at check-in. Found the fireplace lounge by accident and loved it. Might have been overlooked. Dining room and wait staff were fabulous! Directions should have included an option on coming from the other way on A38 instead of M5 did not have to go to Lower Weare to get to Luxton. Overall, great stay"

towels large and ecellent quality comfortable bed clean room

small small tv with no remote and few stations too far from lobby

"Mainly about the limited internet access. Advertised wireless access was one of the main reasons I chose the Webbington. I enjoyed using the gym. I would recommend with reservations."

    Dequate sized room and en-suite

No wireless internet access in my particular room - in spite of being advised that the hotel has wireless broadband throughout. I had to take my laptop to the bar where it worked fine. Indifferent food in restaurant. Rather shabby appearance of carpets and decor in public areas.

  • 20% Young couple

The rude pigeon English speaking staff, the shabby 'down at heel' decor, the oppresive room size, the view of the M5 motorway, the large embankment view not 1 metre from the bedroom window allowing no natural light, the over-cooked breakfast, need i go on?

"menu was very limited. however, breakfast was quite enjoyable. Resteraunt staff were helpful, however rather quick tom remove plates etc. - my friend was still eating when mine was taken away."

Room was nothing like the picture - it was very small. Almost to the point of false advertising. I have stayed in many travel Inns with bigger and better rooms.

Nice size room, cottage like. Lovely bathroom. Nice comfortable bed.

T V should be sorted out. Not watchable, Windows a bit stiff to open.

"Ther was no indication in your description that the hotel had no lift . There were too many flights of stairs to negotiate and there appeared to be no disabled access. My wife has limited mobility and we came across other guests experiencing similar problems. Overall the corridoors and general appearance of the carpets and curtains was dirty. I am a Best Western Gold Crown member and no indication was given at the time of booking that this was a Best Western Hotel.I am a frequent user of this chain and this hotel was substandard."

First room wrong sleeping accommodation. Second room better but beds were uncomfortable. Room very small and furnishings were tired. Bathrom had no non slip mat when using the shower.

"I would like to have known that the bedroom offered was in an annex at the back. double doors to annex, no locks therefore anyone could gain access to the bedroom block from outside drive. we did not feel particularly safe with noisy guest, we asuume, comming in at late hours."

    Retaurant and food

Bathroom, needs refit, under toilet seat disgusting. there were also a noisy group of French ruger supporters. staff joined in and did not try to quieten them down. which annoyed other guests.

"On our arrival there was a large Wedding party in situ. The room allocated no.114 at the rear was right opersite the evening disco venue. The music throbbed on until 1am in the morning preventing myself and my daughter from sleeping. I had requested at point of booking a quiet room! It seems sensible that the wedding guests that stayed overnight should have had our room as they were at the disco! The next morning we had a power cut and I had to wash in the pitch dark. Breakfast was by tealights!"

Location, nice views across the countryside.

    Disappointed with our room allocation.

"In general we thought the hotel was good. The location and views were spectacular. The food was particularly good. Now the bad bit! When we booked we were informed that the room was on the ground floor, well it was but we had to negotiate stairs on the way. Where was the diabled entry?"

Fair price for a down-market room. One hopes that the other rooms are of a higher standard.

"I was very pleasantly surprised, I think the web-site comments under-rated the hotel. For my purposes it was brilliant, would have been useful to have a map of grounds, and local walks etc. Such a beautiful location which even managed to distract from the M5. Very good and would be frightened to reccommend too much as I might find it becomes hard to book a room! Thank you"

Good location, beautiful relaxing setting, close to so much more locally

Could be noisy could of functions but not horrendous, missed having a bath otherwise no problems

"The hotel is quite shabby. The room was very basic and small for the money charged. The worst part of the experience was the amount of noise that you could hear within the room. This meant there was very little chance to get any rest / sleep which was the purpose of the overnight stay."

Not a lot. There was one very nice staff member serving breakfast.

Very very noisy hotel that obviously haven't spent a penny on any sound insulation. We could hear the people in the room next door, everyone in the corridor and every single person walking up and down the stairs next to our room. We stayed there overnight to break up our journey so we wouldn't be so tired but because of the noise ended up getting very little rest.

"We were pretty happy with everything, especially the room. The reception staff were not particularly helpful in trying to find out about whether a particular pub was open for food the next lunchtime significant to us, as we were walking the West Mendip Way - Cheddar Tourist Information were much better at this. We also thought the dinner was quite expensive - good though no protein in the veggie option but a bit overpriced."

Very good sized room, and very comfortable

"Exactly what we wanted - a pleasant, quiet break in wonderful scenery and with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel warned us on booking to avoid weekends if we wanted it quiet, and our Sunday to Wednesday break proved just right."

Friendly and helpful staff, excellent meals, comfortable and relaxed environment

Somewhat cramped room, next to staircase - not a big problem but it would have been if there had been many late-night guests.

"We enjoyed our stay but felt having to go outside between main building & bedrooms cold be a disadvantage inbad weather Perhaps a covered walkway could solve this"

The staff were helpful & very courteous The rooms were cmfortable clean

Guests should be warned about number of stairs between reception & bedrooms
