"Overall satisfactory"
Excellent accommodation. Lovely setting.
I expressed my annoyance to the evening receptionist who persistently ignored my presence at the desk I had something I needed clarifying when she was clearly engaged in a telephone conversation with a colleague.

"Fine for somewhere to sleep and breakfast, but not to eat in evening"
Location, nice atmosphere. Breakfasts good
Restaurant evening meal poor. Bathroom tiles falling off. No Channel Five on TV. Central heating really noisy - kept me awake.

"Generally good"
food and size of room
The room had a number of irritating points. Toilet did not flush properly, toilet seat would not stay upright when needed too, toilet door needed a kick to open it from the inside, right hand wardrobe door would not stay open.

"Fair but not worth the money"
Tatty around the edges, taps didnt close off in en-suite unless forced.

"Excellent"
The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Overall the service was excellent. I would definitely stay at Boships Farm Hotel again and would recommend it to friends.
The decoration of the hotel is a little tired but the rooms are clean and tidy and the positive staff attitude more than makes up for this.

Poor maintenance. Toilets would not flush and in one bathroom light failed and though reported was not repaired

"Overall we enjoyed the stay. The plus points outweighed the minus points"
Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent food in restaurant and great breakfast in room. Room very clean.
Jacuzzi not working. Radiator thermostatic valves not working in room and bathroom. Room required decoration.

"To say the accommodation was overpriced is to miss the point. The accommodation is not to an acceptable standard - fullstop. "
Restaurant
First room I was given the toilet did not flush, the cold water just trickled out of the tap and the shower fixture broke. There were loose tiles around the bath. I was given another room for the second night after complaining. The toilet in this room was not properly cleaned. There was thick black mould behind the bath taps. Tiling was loose around the bath. The tiling covering the radiator plumbing and piping was not completed. This second room was in the "new" annex. There was no insulation in the ceiling from the noises in the room above. The upstairs toilets flush noisily.

Lovely clean hotel, friendly staff and nice warm room.
Not that bad really. Shower a bit antiquated and showering with the water changing from hot to cold cold suddenly an exciting experience!

"Very disappointed and wouldn't recommend to others."
We were moved to another room having complained about the first one. A good breakfast and pleasant staff.
Original room was dirty, damp, smelt awful, couldn't see through the window due to trapped condensation, stained wallpaper, main light didn't work .....

"Excellent, breakfast was very good alot better than many other hotels I've stayed in. I will stay in this hotel again next time I'm down in that part of the country. I couldn't fault it, the room was a nice size and clean, an adequate supply of coffee and biscuits."
Friendly staff, nice size room, good breakfast!

"Bedroom was in need of refurbishment. Double glazing had failed with water in the units. Signs of ongoing damp problem around main window. Also carpet in bathroom - not a good idea - shows water / mould marks. Many damaged tiles in bathroom. Similarly parts of public areas in need of work. Staff attentive but breakfast a little slow at 45 minutes."
Quiet location with attentive staff.
Some updating required to public areas and bedroom.

The bed was far too small for two people being only just a double bed. The bed was a four foot, four poster with restrictive bar at the end of the bed. One of us had to sleep on the floor as we had no room to move.

"Not a bad hotel. A bit expensive for what it is. The breakfast was good enough. I would advise avoiding having dinner at the hotel as the food is tasteless and expensive."
The location is great for travel along the south coast.

"We are familiar with the Boship Farm having previously stayed there on a number of past occasion. It is most convenient for our destination, which on this occasion was a family funeral. We shall probably stay there again later in the year when we travel again to see our relatives and this time, again, bring other family members. We have always found the staff most helpful, pleasant and professional. The facilities, decor and ambience are appropriate for a country hotel of this nature."
Convenient for our destination. Country hotel not usually overly busy when we have stayed - managed to miss the weddings etc! Staff very good. Evening receptionist most helpful and very personable. Small cosy bar. Good food.

"We were staying for a Wedding that was taking place in the hotel. We were given a large double room in which we also fitted 2 travel cots and still had plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was very old and the wooden toilet seat was very unplesant. However i do believe it is undergoing re-furnishment soon. The rooms were in an anex away from the main building and the corridors were freezing, but the rooms boiling, we were unable to turn the radiators off. The main function room was very hot also. We were very pleased with our stay in general as we had paid quite a bit less than other guests by going through this website and not dealing with the hotel direct."
The bedrooms are very large.
Not great temperature control in the hotel

"Apart from the problem with the central heating, everything else was excellent."
Comfortable, good parking, friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast.
The central heating in the room originally allocated to us was not working on a very cold night. However, we were then allocated a bigger and better room for no extra charge.

"After being told the rooms in this hotel were quite small we were pleasantly surprised to be given a large room including chairs and an extra single bed that was more than good. The bed was gloriously soft and we both slept like logs. The breakfast was delicious, although the fried bread was more of a charred lump..."
Room was spacious and clean

"Having stayed in this hotel many years ago, I was very pleased to see that the past high standard had been kept up. We had a good sized room, and although there was a faulty lightbulb, this small problem was sorted out immediately. The staff were courteous, helpful and always very pleasant during our short stay. We would definitely recommend the hotel and its beautiful setting."
Large twin room, very polite and helpful staff - always cheerful!, clean facilities, lovely grounds to walk around.

"The hotel gave a poor impression on arrival: instead of the country hotel I had expected, it is on a busy roundabout, opposite a Travel Lodge/Burger King. Road noise was clearly audible from our room at night. Our impression was not helped by some of the kitchen staff lounging in the courtyard at the rear. Clearly the reception block was once a pleasant building looks 18th century and the reception area is still well maintained and attractive. However, the remainder appears to be converted from former outbuildings with modern extensions linked by dimly lit, damp-smelling corridors. The staff were friendly and efficient. However, our room allegedly a premiere twin was in very poor decorative order and dirty especially the bathroom. We complained, and were moved immediately to another room, which was marginally better. The staff behaved impeccably, and we were later given a free bottle of wine with dinner. However, this did not make up for the fact that we found that part of the new room had obviously not been cleaned properly and the bathroom was also very tatty. The overall feel of the hotel was grubby and run-down. The rather dim room lighting probably conceled further grime! There were plenty of cobwebs throughout! There were notices around the hotel - which looked as thought they had been up some time - warning of ongoing refurbishment, but we saw no evidence of any work actually going on. However, I would have expected this warning to be repeated on the website - it wasn't. The hotel is badly in need of modernisation and refurbishment, so improvement will be welcome. The restaurant tried hard, but the menu contained some oddities. A Chicken Liver and Goats Cheese Tart was served as a sort of terrine and was too cold: slow roast beef pizzaiola managed to be pink, but chewy. My partner's first portion of pan fied tuna was badly overcooked although she had specifically asked for it to be pink. However, it was replaced without question. Vegetables were very good, and puddings bland, but acceptable. Services was excellent and efficient. In conclusion, this hotel has excellent, efficient, willing staff, who are let down by poor quality accomodation and sub-standard cleaning. This was certainly not worth nearly "
Not much. Room was a good size.
Extremely poor standard of cleanliness. I moved a side table to find a plug socket, and it was clear no-one had cleaned behind it for weeks if not months. Mould on grout in bathroom. Water damage to bathroom ceiling. Carpeted bathroom - not hygienic. Poor quality bedlinen. Beds too soft. Corridors smell of damp. Generally tatty and run down. Not worth

"The Hotel looks good on arrival, the old farmhouse with sympathetic architectural extensions all placed in pleasant large grounds with good facilities. Upon entering hotel, the greeting was good and helpful. Access to rooms was a difficult process through small corridors. The room was very depressing as the furniture and fabrics were exteremely ill conceived and a seemingly collection of second hand throwouts. The view from window was pleasant and the room quiet. The en-suite room smelt of mold we had to keep door shut to keep out smell and the toilet was plumbed in so as to make it difficult to sit on. The toilet seat fell off before use. The restaurant was dark and unwelcoming, we were told we would have to wait and hour and therefore went elsewhere. Upon reflection the website did not have any big pictures for me to judge the hotel. Visitor websites I have booked from have been good in this way. Being aware of the little things that put people off that management seems not to notice, I feel that this hotel could do with a professional report on its operation and definitely a good interior designer for its bedrooms."
The position, looks and grounds of the Hotel, which were very pleasant.
THE ROOM! My heart sank when entering as it was so depressing. A collection of ill matching kitsch furniture and terrible fabrics.

"A reasonably pleasant two night stay in nice surroundings. Potential guests should enquire whether the hotel has been booked for any function during their proposed stay, as the function room, complete with deafening disco is very adjacent to guest accommodation and some guests might find it too noisy - I did, even though I attended a wedding function! Apart from that it was OK"
Pleasant surroundings, comfortable bed, and good service in dining room.
Cramped Tatty bathroom, Slept in ground floor room 24 kept awake by noisy creaking floor and guest movement in room above.

"I had been to a party in Eastbourne;I live in Hampshire and needed an overnight stay. A tennis tournament had filled all the accommodation in Eastbourne in my price range, so I drove out to Dicker to spend the night. My only difficulty was finding the hotel. An illuminated sign at the entrance would have helped a tired and rather anxious driver find it. My experience of the hotel was positive from the friendly greeting of the receptionist who had my key and invoice ready for me to the kindly waitress in the restaurant who made sure that my food at breakfast was gluten-free. An excellent, moderately priced hotel."
I had a very large, well-furnished room overlooking the lake and distant views.

"we had a pleasant stay. feel the decor was outdated and need of up grading for the price that we were paying. breakfast was pleasant and the staff very efficient and accomodating. as a hotelier myself I am quite picky about places i stay, please be ensured that the comments made did not affect our overall stay, it is merely meant as constructive. no matter the overall apperance of a place it is the people who provide the service to the guests who make or break the stay, you should be proud of your team."
lovely grounds and immediate deccor of the main building and external fasade, liked the accesibility
the extractor in our bathroom was not woorking and the room was very hot at night there was no thermostat to control the tempreture in the room. tv was very small and situated quite a distance from the bed so difficult to focus on.
