"Very good"

Really good value for money

No hot water late afternoon but was working on our return in the evening & the next morning

clean, good breakfast included, free newspapers, excellent location for visiting Chester and walking distance to bars and restaurants

no mirror above dressing table/desk in bedroom

Someone had put food and drinks on my colleagues room number. Please get staff to check persons putting items to a room number are actually in that room!!!

have my car serviced in Queensferry and we make an over-night stop and enjoy a day in Chester we do this every year and stay at the Racecourse Hotel

Poor booking information online, meant we paid more than we needed to.

"No closed wardrobe or drawers. Rooms really only suitable for an overnight stay. Continental breakfast very good. Staff pleasant."

Smart and clean

Room not seviced correctly first night Only towels were partly changed. Many TV channels unobtainable but we were advised this was due to a changeover to digital. Bedhead reading lights not working. Advised these would be corrected but did not happen.

for the size of the room and what was prepayed, i think the rate was quite high

"Excellent location just outside the city walls, near Watergate and also just about mile from Chester City F.C. stadium. Good room overlooking the rececourse and the River Dee. You know what to expect from Holiday Inn Express and this one is as good as the others we have stayed at"

"We had a great stay at Chester and this hotel was the ideal base as it was very close to the city centre. Staff were friendly, efficient and on hand. The hotel was clean,comfortable and everything you would expect at a more expensive hotel for a much more affordable price. Great!"

Convenient to Chester and excellent view over the city and racecourse

The lack of evening food for the solo traveler. Not easy to go out on your own.

"If I'd known this hotel had booked a large party of lads, I would not have booked this hotel. I was very dissapointed the duty manager could not control the rowdy behaviour. I will not be staying in this hotel in the future!"

Clean, modern, convenient for the racecourse

Controlling rowdy behaviour in the hotel bed rooms at night, I was kept awake until 3.00am by a group of people partying in their room, even though the duty manager spoke to them thre times.

Beautiful location, excellent standard of accommodation the hotel was well kept and very clean.

"I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody. Although basic, it ticked all the right boxes for my stay. It was clean,comfortable, with good customer service and very close to the city centre. In fact i will probably be staying here again as I have to come back to Chester at the end of the month."

Close proximity to where we go out in chester Confusing car parking, not sure what you do on race day as the car park is i assume used for the race course too. Good choice of TV channels - sky sports as well as the usual"

Shower area. The curtain didn't seem near enough the shower, hanging over the edge rather than inside.. May have been better to have a screen

Very practical and a well thought out breakfast system.

The lift was out of order during our stay which meant we had to climb many flights of stairs frequently.

The room was good overall, but the bed sheets had not been cleaned from previous people. They had stains on and smelt dirty!!

"We had a really enjoyable stay, due to the the following factors: Excellent location within walking distance of town centre. Quite new building so was in good cndition. Apart from above mentioned incident, checking in and out was fuss-free. There were no disappointments whatsoever."

Good layout in room. Lovley breakfast area and excellent continental breakfast. Plenty of parking.

One member of reception staff was not fully aware of pricing structure, but was fotunately corrected by someone better informed. Soft furnishings bed settee lacked freshness. Sound proofing was not as good as it could have been, especially as the building was almost new.

"This hotel, whilst clean and efficient, is completely soulless. It provides a function but I couldn't wait to get away from it. Why anyone would choose to stay here more than once is beyond me. I'd rather stay in a dingier hotel having a bit of an atmosphere. I hadn't appreciated that there was no restaurant - knowing continental breakfast was included I had assumed that there would be one. The fact that the reception and bar area are combined and you walk directly into this area from outside is bizarre - uncomfortable actually. One 36inch ? TV in the middle of this room at table height isn't really good enough."

"My wife and I both enjoyed our weekend stay at the Express By Holiday Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only things we were unhappy with was the breakfast and the fact that we reported that the shower drain was blocked and this was not sorted out."

Good access to shops etc. Easy to find, good parking facilities

The breakfast was disappointing as the hotel had run out of milk and did not offer an alternative. No full english breakfast was available.

The noise caused by the train line could have been decreased if the windows had been soundproofed.
