from Hawes UK, stayed on November 3, 2009
Breakfast was simple, not exactly continental but good enough.
The hotel is not as close to M.E.N arena and other things as stated. The television in the room had poor sound, Could hardly hear it even when turned right up. No light bulb in the light fitting where you were meant to hang your clothes. Horrible cold stone floor in bathroom. Not particularly welcoming service. No smile. Quite rude and careless in respopnse when we asked them any questions. Certainly not worth sixty pounds especially when it was suposed to be forty five at the time of booking the room.....

from Bingley UK, stayed on July 2, 2009
Hotel staff were friendly and approachable and were able to answer my query about getting to other venues in the City. NCP car park next door - charges were not extortionate.
Bathroom facilities were o.k., unfortunately shower was not hot enough and the shower door opened onto the sink which made it not very easy to get into the shower cubicle;, but on the whole facilities were adequate.

"Ok if you dont mind basic accommodation and customer service. Take earplugs if you're a light sleeper!"
Proximity to MEN Arena. Free bus stops outside
Very noisy location. People staying in other rooms were extremely noisy and inconsiderate until small hours.

"We found the hotel manager to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful in all advice asked of him."
Very local to all events and places of interest
Smoking in the reception which was adjacent to the dinning room area, could also be smelt on second floor.

"The hotel room was large and clean although in deed for a refurb it was in an acceptable state. The hotel staff were very attentive and welcoming which made the start to our stay pleasurable. Requires a note to not leave kettles plugged in over night if this is a common fault with kettles, or a replacement all together. It is hard to critisize the hotel when it was the residents that were causing the noise keeping us awake, maybe some sound proofing for rooms above as the people above us were up right until early hours of the morning making difficult to sleep along with the kettle and knocking at the door :-$"
Staff were very attentive and very helpful. The hotel was going through a refurb which indeed was required, but the hotel was clean and tidy and the work being done did not disrupt our stay
Someone banging on our door to come in at 4am, we do not know who it was as we didn't answer and ignore the knocking. They knocked twice then left, not sure if they maybe had the wrong room. Also, the room above ours we were in number 1 people were pacing the floor all through the night distrubig our sleep. The kettle kept turning it self on during the night waking us up, we thought it was heating until the morning when we motice the light come on and the whirling noise.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and there was only one person working so we had to wait for him to return to check in it was only about a 5 minute wait.

"Hotel is not worthy a 3 star rating. Absolutely no value for money. Also had an unpleasant experience in the direct neighbourhood of the hotel."
The guy at the reception was kind. He helped to order a taxi for early next morning. Clean towels.
Dirty old room, filled sink with dirty water was waiting for us, dirty shower with used soap and bandage of previous visitor. Did hardly dare to take our shoes off.

"The price of the rooms was too high for the condition, the stairs very steep if you have any walking problems, no where to have a drink as hotel bar was closed and there were no staff around. Room was noisy as window did not shut correctly. Floor boards were loose making moving around quietly virtually impossible"
clean bedding, hotel easy to locate and close to chosen venue.
there was no one around, stairs very steep, floor boards loose, doors and windows difficult to shut.

"It was fairly near to the venue we were visiting the staff did try but it didnt help the state of the hotel."
The staff responded very quickly when we reported a broken window handle as the window would not shut so a draught was coming in badly. They were very friendly and polite. The breakfast trays were adequate.
The reception area was very dirty and untidy. The hallway and stairs smelt of cigarettes and very fusty. The shower head had to be held as the piece to sit it in was broken we did not know till we had showers on the morning or we could have reported it the night before. The carpet in the rooms were shabby as was the furniture.
