"I visit Swindon several times a year for 1 or 2 night stays on business. After trying several hotels in the area I have settled on the Madison because of its good unpretentious quality, pleasant staff, good service, good value compared with others and good free wifi."
This is a down to earth, good value, middle market hotel. The place is clean and has a good atmosphere and all the staff I met have a positive attitude are pleasant and are keen to help. Whilst not for gourmets the restaurant has a good selection of quality food that can be enjoyed - well beyond 'chips with everything'. Excellent free WiFi availability in bedrooms.
Rooms not very large, but they are clean and well maintained.

Food was excellent. So much so that, besides dinner on arrival, we chose to have lunch after the event and setting off to the airport.
My only disappointment was the fact that a full breakfast only started at 0800 which restricted us to continental room service since my appointment was for 0830.

Friendly and obliging staff at the hotel.
When calling the phone number provided on the reservation confirmation, the person replying didn't even know the hotel name. It seemed to be a kind of call centre. So, it would help, if the phone number of the front desk of the hotel is given.

Staff friendly. Not very often you get a call to your room just after check-in that you get a curtisy call asking if everthing is okay with your room :0
Not really a bad point but when I received the email confirmation, it stated that check-out was at 12 noon and got a shock when reception called at 11:30 to say check-out was at 11. Clarification needs to be addressed.

"Having breakfast was like having breakfast in a Gestapo Camp with SS soldier keeping watch on every move. Could not relax. Food was good but expensive. would recommend a more relaxed atmosphere. Stayed in Holiday Inn the following night and this was much better and more reasonably priced."

"This would be a very comfortable place to stay when on business in Swindon or for a quick overnight on the way to somewhere else. It is not a destination hotel but it is comfortable and good value for money. I will definitely book this hotel again the next time I travel to Swindon."
It provided a good standard of accommodation for the money. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent.
The decor of the public rooms was twee, but not intolerable.

"Despite renovations that were in progress our stay at the hotel was not impaired. One of our party is a smoker -a little more thought for their comfort in the outside facility would be appreciated to mirror the Dutch approach to mutual co-existance."

It was easy to book rooms online, and easy to find. Good bar and reception area.
We were told that breakfast was not included in price yet all the other members of our group had breakfast the next morning yet we all paid the same price for the rooms.
