"I enjoyed my stay but thought for the size of the room the price for 1 night was too high."
The hotel and staff it's self were perefct, the location was really good for the pubs and bars. Breakfast was really fresh and cooked well.
The room itself was dissapointing for the price paid. The bed was far to soft and springy, the tv was tiny although it was very clean.

Some really great, friendly and very helpful desk staff.
The young fella waiting tables at breakfast was very poor. He was talking laughing and joking to kitchen staff for ages so we were left waiting. When he came to seat us he dismissed us with a wave of his hand and just said 'sit', rude and dismissive. The dining area was also way too hot, not warm, but hot.

"York is a beautifull city and the central location of this Hotel is perfect for access to all areas of the City. Being right on the river was an added bonus, especially at night when everything was lit up. The staff were helpfull and the room adequetly sized and clean throughout. We would recommend this Hotel for location, value for money and its onsite parking. We look forward to returning in the near future for a longer stay."
Central location in heart of city, riverside location, smoking room was good, as we are smokers and on site parking was perfect. Hotel staff were polite and helpfull.

Breakfast on this occasion was very disappointing. the hot buffet was stone cold. Staff just loked at me when I told them didnt seem to be at all bothered. I think we were last in but if they say breakfast till 10.30 then it should still be eatable at 10am. It wouldnt stop me going again but Queens is no longer my first choice.

Location is fabulous. Clean & tidy.
Boring bar! Staff in bar & reception were NEVER there when I wanted them. Always had to look/call for them; most annoying. Indeed, when I checked out 7.00a.m I knew I had to pay for two newspapers on my bill but simply could not get anyone to answer at reception. Shouted till I was blue in the face & ultinately had to leave without a check-out. Presume they will put the £1 on my CC?

we reserved a parking space only to be told when we go to the hotel that,in fact there was no space for us. Luckily we had found a 24 hour car park and left the car there. It didnt stop the receptionist the following morning trying to charge us for the facility we didnt use

The decor of our room was perfect and we were more than satisfied with it.
The bad point was the stench of smoke which greeted us as we opened the door of the room. We were unable to get a non smoking room. I rang the desk and we were given room freshner which was a little help.

Bad room quite noisy but was booked at last minute ,we were adjacent to the bar/restaurant corridor and people queueing outside door and also we were over the underground car park, shower very weak ,would not want the same room again .

The cleanliness of the room could not be faulted as could the attitude and service offered by the staff.
Some of the equipment in the room was not well maintained. Half of the lighting had malfunctioned, obviously prior to our arrival, but had not been fixed. The shower fixings had worked loose but again not maintained.

"We booked this hotel the night before as we were looking for a cheap deal. We had previously stayed at this hotel last year for Christmas shopping and used Airmiles. We booked a family room this time which was the same price as a double room as we had our 4 month old baby with us and requested a travel cot. We were allocated one of the rooms on the ground floor - these are the "quiet rooms" so we were happy with this, I think all of the family rooms are on the ground floor. When we stayed here previously we had a problem with noisy guests and banging doors at the early hours of the morning so we had no such problem this time. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant - we went to "Henry J Bean's restaurant" next door to the Hilton Hotel for steak and ribs - delicious! and "Yates" just across the bridge for breakfast. Overall we had a good time. "
Good location as main centre is just over the bridge. There are drinks machines on some floors with cold cans of coke, water etc. Bed was very comfortable.
No room service or fridge in room.

Excellent location for visiting all local attractions. Very good sized room. Breakfast had more than adequate choice.

Very good value at a nicely presented hotel in a great location. My wife forgot her camera but the staff kept it for her and we recovered it - a big thanks for that.

Pity that there is no parking by the hotel during the day. But we can live with that! The general area around the streets not the hotel could do with a good clean up. Food debris cigarette ends and worse on the pavements. Detracts from your very nice hotel.

"Excellent. Before we stayed I went online and some of the reviews were a little off-putting, listing the hotel as tired and shabby but I decided to try it anyway and was pleasantly surprised. All I can say is "some people are very difficult to please". I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Queen's Hotel again and my partner was of the same opinion. We had several other hotels recommended to us by a friend who stays in York regularly but although we looked at them while we were there I wouldn't bother staying anywhere else but the Queen's. "
The cleanliness and presentation of the room were excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was appetising and varied.The location is also excellent with everything being within easy walking distance. We never went near the car for three days!
The bed was a little soft with "roll together"! Also I would have peferred it if the shower was moveable up and down.
