"I would recommend the hotel to a friend. My experience was very good. Well treated by staff and enjoyed the hotel services."

The Hotel staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel was clean and beautiful. The location was perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and being downtown.

Wifi did not work at all during my 4 day stay. Would have liked a sauna or jacuzzi with the pool. Card keys stopped working a few times and had to get them rekeyed over and over.

Position of hotel. Facilities in bedroom good. Size of room.

Noise level from corridor was not good. Wakened by early morning call to room next door. Noise from house staff - hoovering just after 8am!

"The hotel is at best a 3 star"

Location is great for Princess Street and Castle and shopping

The hotel is not a 4 star and the spa is in need of a complete refurbish the pool and changing rooms were very dirty. The rooms very small and dirty the cleaning of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired.

"An exteremly overpriced hotel,a hotel `dressed up` as being upper class but doesn`t even reach average. The prices for the rooms/breakfast are a joke, just like this hotel. We will never stay here again."

1st Room:Above a small street at back of hotel with 9 pubs producing loads of noise, poor single glazed windows don`t block out the noise at all.,no bathrobes, slippers or luxury items considering I booked the best room you can get.Ceiling stained brown, room tidy but neglected looking. We were moved to a room at the front of the hotel-But the same single glazed windows=Loud traffic noise outside occured. One day of check-out I complained but the receptionist didn`t seem bothered or sympathetic at all. Also rang up & spoke to the hotel manager but he also didn`t seem to care either.

"Generally OK, but it could have been a lot better."

    1. Location 2. Helpful concierge 3. Generally clean

    1. Available television channels are completely inadequate for a relatively high-priced lodging 2. Bathroom door of room 461 has holes kicked into its rear side and one wall tile broken. 3. Extremely high parking cost about $US33/day.

The room was large and the bed was comfortable. It was within walking distance of the castle.

    The decor wasn't very interesting.

Pleasant environment, room comfortable and staff helpful

"Overall we enjoyed our stay though we were not pleased to be woken by hotel staff moving furniture around the atrium area at 05.30am. Your manager dealt adequately with our complaint but it did spoil what was to be a special anniversary weekend for us."

Excellent location and general atmosphere of the hotel. Helpful staff and good food.

Cocktail bar had awful music. Why play music for young people when the majority of drinkers were over 50? Front door left open meant that lounge areas were cold and draughty. We expected to find somewhere pleasnt and cost to sit and enjoy a drink.

"The staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome and comfortable, our every enquiry was answered to the full and more a credit to the Hotel. The Hotel was very nice and impressive - the only thing was that as we were only staying the one night, the gym and swimming pool closed early at the weekend which was the only time we could have used it, it was a shame. All in all a very pleasant stay and a visit to Edinburgh to be remembered"

The accommodation was very nice, pleasant and very clean service was superb

The TV wasnt very clear could have done with being better tuned in - watchable tho

"Great location for shopping - rooms a bit uninspiring, small and drab. Hotel charges £2.00 on check out for using a credit card - think this should be incorporated in their tariff as I found this off putting and took umbrage. Would tray another hotel int he future."

Small room- booked executive double with king size bed and then tried to change to a twin - got twin but dont think it was an executive -

We also booked a double room and were given a very small twin, however they changed it for us when i complained. Overall an adequate hotel, i will look for somwhere else next time though."

Very good central location, well maintained hotel with old and modern style altogether. Friendly staff.

Slight sewage smell to the room when first entered. Smell did dissipate but would sometimes return especially during the night Room faced noisy street, bathroom lacked area to put cosmetics and other stuff, safety deposit box did not work.

Central, easy access to public transport, pleasant and spacious room.

One or two minor obseravtions about the room facilties - could have all been coreected if necessary - but nothing to dislike about the hotel/room.

    the concierge. The location.

bathroom door needs repainting. wallpaper torn. carpet stained. TV too low down to watch while in bed. VV noisy! both from people outside and noise from other rooms in early hours. room too hot. signage within the hotel inadequate.

"Our stay was overall very good. I would recommend the hotel. The hotel spa was also very good with reasonable prices and a discount for staying guests"

The room was very spacious. The bed was comfortable and a good size. The hotel was perfectly placed for shopping, sightseeing, and lots of pubs and good restaurants.

The downside was the rooms were dimly lit. Accompanying friends got a tiny 3rd floor room, where the lift wasn't working, in the roof of the hotel. After some discussion, we explained we were doing a charity marathon, they were moved to an adjoining room. The breakfast was far too expensive at
